Dragonfire Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Avalanche sees Em sit down next to him. He studies the ranger carefully, not wanting to speak unless he was spoken to. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Em nods casually at his neighbour after noticing the man glancing at him. He remains quiet, however, and merely sips at his drink. Quote
The Legonater Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I finally bring myself to check the Quest List. Realizing it's been a while since my last quest, I sign up for Quest 82. Quote
Endgame Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I enter the hall, clutching my hand. I avoid cringing, trying to be nonchalant about the inferno in my fingers and palms as possible. I look towards the group of heroes, whispering... The fews words I could decipher seemed somewhat grand in scale. King, Freedom, Fix Eubric... ...Guts? I walk over to the table, nodding to the familiar faces. "Well, hello everybody. Anything important going on?" Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I walk over to the table, nodding to the familiar faces. "Well, hello everybody. Anything important going on?" "Not Leveling-up, not gaining Gold or loot, not improving WP or HP or SP...so, no, nothing important is going on." Quote
K-Nut Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Althior slides the vial of ink back into the pocket on the inside of his jacket. Without hearing the Yeti, apparently, he turns around on his stool to face Docken. "Not Leveling-up, not gaining Gold or loot, not improving WP or HP or SP...so, no, nothing important is going on." "Starting to sound like an aura, Docken. Speaking nonsense about all these SPs and HPs and WPs, whatever the hell they are..." He stands up and slowly makes his way over to Sorrow, whispering to him as he passes. "I need to speak to you" Althior continues walking past until he gets to an empty table. He sits down, and as he takes a swig of water, gestures for Sorrow to follow him. Quote
Endgame Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I raise an eyebrow at the Warden's maddenining comment, my eyebrows raising even further at Althior's whisper. I take a qucik glance at the motioning Necromancer before turning back into the Warden. "Ah, well... Good to know." I turn away, pulling up a chair at the Necromancer's table. I lean in, speaking in slightly hushed tones. "Yes, Althior?" Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 OoC: Who is currently signed up for 81? Quote
K-Nut Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Althior takes another large swig of his water before speaking. "This undead thing really makes your mouth dry, doesn't it? I find myself drinking a lot of this lately. Much more so often than-" Althior cuts himself off, realizing he's losing the attention of Sorrow, "Anyways, the real reason I wanted to speak was, well, you would definitely know better than me, as you've been undead for a longer period is, well, is there more than one way to be brought back? And if so, does this-" He slides the small vial of Oculoid ink across the table, "have anything to do with it? Before you say it, this isn't just regular ink. Trust me, I've been looking at it for a few days now. There's something, wrong, about it." He watches Sorrow's un-moving expression before speaking up again, "Look, I know I've been, well, an megablocks in the past about this, and you have no reason to help me with this, but I'm asking for your help here. Hell, I'm begging for it. I think I'm a clever man, but I literally can not figure this out," He leans back on his chair, his hand placed to his chin as he tries to deduce the qualities of the ink. "So can you help me?" OOC: This has nothing to do with the fact you hosted the Quest #79, just that Sorrow is the only other hero who's undead, and this could help in Althior's future role-play. Quote
Endgame Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I lean an arm on the table, slowly accepting the vial of ink. "You're a Necromancer, Althior. There are dozens, hundreds of ways to revive the dead. You studied, you should know that. I myself was brought back by Animutilav, mutilator of souls... Can tear a soul to shreds and rip it from its body, or tether a wayward soul to a corpse. Obviously, the latter happened to me. I heard the former is one of the most excruciating things possible..." I shift around in my seat, realizing I was getting a bit too detailed. "Anyway, this ink... It seems to have some sort of... magical property. Can you tell me where it was from?" I look at the Necromancer. Begging did not fit his previous philosophy in the slightest. I sigh and ask: "Althior. You seem shaken. What's wrong?" Quote
K-Nut Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 "I'm new at this whole resurrection thing. I studied it's most basic form and stuck with it." He continues to listen to Sorrow, "This ink is the only remainder of the Oculoid Chief. Some sort of demon created on an assembly line. Only made up ink and a glowing eye." Althior reminisces to the chief and what he gave up to him, "They stared into the darkest parts of my soul. My centuries of suffering, everything I've lost. I locked all that knowledge of myself and my suffering away in some deep part of me to save myself, and they opened it right back up. I suffered death for much longer than I had thought I had before." Althior trails off, a single tear rolling down his cheek, without him noticing for a moment. He quickly wipes it from his face and gets a solemn expression on his face, though his eyes are full of sadness and age. He crosses his arms and sits back, clearing his throat. "Whenever I think of it now, it feels like I'm dying all over again. How everything that I was died, and how a new man walked out of that alleyway." He pauses, thinking of his time further. "I tried to do things alone, keep others out of my business and safe." He chokes up a bit. "But I did some things, it all went wrong..." He sits back again, wiping his face with his glove. He forces a laugh out, looking around. "But it doesn't matter now, it's all in the past..." Quote
Dragonfire Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Avalanche once again returned to his spot near the wall. Nobody wanted to talk to him or noticed him at all. He took a swig of ale, the alcoholic drink staining his chest fur brown. He listened for a conversation to join. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Johon leans back in his chair and tries to rest, but can't, and then notices a yeti walking around the hall, not seeming to know anyone. He walks over to greet him. "Greetings. I am Johon," johon says, extending his hand to shake "Are you new around here? I don't believe I've seen you before..." Quote

I place a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm down his mild hysteria. "Althior. Listen to me. Being "undead" is a misnomer. We're living creatures... But not all Necromancers can revive beings to fit into the world's standards. I once looked exactly like a normal fellow, but that... That was 380 years ago. Althior, your Necromancer seemed to do a very good job. You still look human. Me? I'm an abomination. there really isn't any way to bring an undead back to life, Althior. Because, really, we're already living." I turn around and look up at the ceiling. "Althior. Take advantage of the blessings your necromancer gave you. Don't waste them and ruin the life of the one you love, like I did. Make amends. Do what makes you happy. Find someone, settle down, hell, even start a family if you feel up to it. I only have a few years left before I have to leave this world and my last family member behind. Life is meant for living, and you look like a living creature to me, Althior Emorith. Don't squander it." Quote

Pandora Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Nyx looks around the table, and then around the room. Lots of little conversations here and there, hushed voices, greetings. She was feeling restless already, and her drink had run out. She gets up and stretches her arms, feeling her muscles tense and relax - it was still an odd feeling to her. She picks up her empty glass and moves to have it refilled at the bar, nibbling at some of Scheherezade's homemade biscuits while she waits for her drink. She turns and gazes round the room some more, thinking about Guts' proposal; not something that would happen overnight, so she'd best occupy herself in the meantime. She walks over to the questboard and looks at the petitions, still thinking and sipping her drink. After some deliberation, she signs her name for Quest #82: Stop the Presses and Quest #83: Four's Company. That done, she retakes her seat at the table, and continues drinking and thinking. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Tarn looked across at the Battle Mage. "You seem troubled, Nyx. Do you wish to talk about it?" Quote

Besides, I feel like I hold more power than I did before I died. However I was brought back, it brought more power with it." He sits back, holding his chin, then he leans forward again. "I died back there, in that forest. I should be dead, but I'm still here. When you're brought back, you should be able to die again, correct? You could die just as you did before." Althior sits back, taking in a huge breath and sighing. This was obviously taking a huge toll on his mind. Quote
Endgame Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I'm taken aback by Althior's words. "...Of course you could die again, but why would you want to? Althior, from what I remember of the questboard, that job was just a simple delivery... What happened?" Quote

Kintobor Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 An official looking man with a curled mustache strolls into the hall, bull horn in hand. Pulling out a notebook, he briskly views the list of heroes signed up for the incident at the Hinckwell Villa. CURRENT SIGN UPS FOR QUEST 83 Nyx- Level 28.3 Battle Mage (Pandora) Grimwald Gjinko- Level 12.5 Cleric (LordoftheNoobs) Heckz Brutenhal- Level 13.5 Mage (EricSu) "Hmm... two members from the Founder's Day Ball incident... this "Ghostbuster" seems quite qualified as well..." With a turn of his heel he marches out of the hall, swiftly slamming the doors behind him. Quote

Althior, from what I remember of the questboard, that job was just a simple delivery... What happened?" "I'm talking about eventually. I think that it has something to do with-" He stops, realizing he doesn't want to give more away than he has to. "Does this ink have anything to do with resurrection whatsoever? Does it have any uses? I'm at a loss here, and that's all I want to know. That's all I need to know," Quote
