Scubacarrot Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) The raider crossed his arms as the metasimian walked off. Byblos reminded him of the Pixie Dust addicts and the (forced) starved vampires they had in Strivvi's poor districts. The same... indifferent ways of acting, the same vacant stare. Did he just say he'd keep the evil demonic tome on him on the trip to the place filled with ancient demons? This could go wrong. Very wrong. No matter how interested in the Masked Man he was. This had to be a priority if he ever saw one... Well, it'd be up to fate then, or some newspaper man, by lack of a better representative of fate. Guts also signed up for Quest 85. Professor Flitwick Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Thothwick re-entered the Hall, fresh from a browse around the market place. Upon entering, he noticed Hoptet walking away from the Dragon Lord. "Enjoy your history lesson?" "Heroica past... odd." "A quality it has retained to this day." The two chuckled at the joke, the creator of which had first hand experience of such quirkiness. They turned towards the Saloon, before noticing Byblos siging up for a Quest. When they had last seen eachother - shortly before the couple departed for their vacation - Byblos look pale, and rather tired, a problem attributed to his busy schedule and lack of daylight. Now he looked far more gaunt, and even slimmer than before. As soon as they stepped towards him, he scurried off towards his Library. The couple walked towards the Quest Board, and saw the Quest he signed up for. Without hesitation, Hoptet signed up for Quest #85: Visions of an Unblinking Terror. "What are you doing?" "We Metasimians be good to stick together. Especially in Heroica." Beaming, Thothwick too signed up for Quest #85: Visions of an Unblinking Terror. He turned to leave the board, before noticing the word 'Shadeaux'. Ever since he met them at the founders day ball, he had yearned to meet them more. Determined to produce an understanding between the feuding families, Thothwick also signed up for Quest #84: Bad Blood. Turning, he saw a familiar face. "Excuse me, Mr. Holla!" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Thotwick. What can I do for you?" The raider answered with a faint smile hanging around his mouth, but with serious eyes. Quote
Kadabra Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) Arasmyth looked up from his drink as he saw something most unusual - the librarian, Byblos, signing up for a quest! The elven evoker couldn't pass up the chance to quest with the fellow, he seemed like a veritable treasure trove of information. 'Byblos! What a surprise to see you out of the library! What made you decide to return to Questing for this Quest in particular? Surely other opportunities to visit ruins have arisen during your career. he asked as he signed up for Quests 84 and 85. CMP Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Atramor watched the sudden activity around the Quest board idly, for a moment, before walking up to it and looking it over. The Hinckwells jumping to conclusions about whatever stuff of theirs seemed to go missing...nothing new, they'd been doing that for the past two years. The trio of ape names scrawled under Quest 85 caught his eye. He didn't want to have to deal with Thothwick's crap again, but offing a couple demons, while probably not simple, was exactly the kind straightforward thing he needed. They're demons, what was there to them but to die? He scribbled his initials under Quest 85, and returned to his table. Hell, if they were anything like the last few demons he'd killed, he'd get some sort of awesome relic or weapon, he thought, with a slight chuckle, before sipping his drink. Quote
Kadabra Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Realizing that at this point he was already signed up for 4 quests, Arasmyth scratched out his name for Quest 82. If he was going to start Questing again he may as we'll jump in the deep end and leave the simpler jobs for newer heroes. Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Thotwick. What can I do for you?" The raider answered with a faint smile hanging around his mouth, but with serious eyes. "Good to see you again, Mr. Holla! I do hope your well, but I'm afraid time is rather of the essence, and I just wanted to ask a question. I saw you interacting with my cousin, Byblos, and me and Hoptet - oh, I don't believe you've had the pleasure! Mr. Holla - Hoptet, Hoptet - Mr. Holla." "Hello fellow, hero! Have yo-" "Now... where was I? Ah, yes. Byblos, he looks off. Did he say anything out of the ordinary whilst conversing with you?" Quote
Endgame Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "You're not the first to ask that." She continued to look at her mask pensively as she spoke. "I don't know. It's just... something I do, you know? I woke up one day and said "hey, I'm going to paint myself white and wear a domino mask!" It's a tick, you know. I do it because... I can. You'd think I was covering burn scars and what not, but I'm not. I'm only covering up one scar and a swirly tattoo on my back. I got nothing better, really..." ~The Sign-Ups for Quest 81 have been pushed back to September 29th!~ "Hm. Well, I suppose that is a rational as anything else us humanoids do, huh? We're an odd bunch, if not tenacious. So, have anything else to do besides talk to your undead ancestor?" I chuckle. I pen my name under 85. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Byblos is your cousin... It's a small world... You wouldn't happen to have family ties with the Metasimian gangs in town, would you? Errr, sorry. Yes, absolutely. You remember the evil black book we found under Eubric, you know, gave you headaches, couldn't be burned... Well, he's going to take it with him, and I bet you half the gold in my pouch that's the reason he looks like he does. If you're going to go to Azzurat, and I sure as hell hope the Oracle wouldn't be so stupid to pick Byblos, but if she does, keep two eyes on him if you can spare them. You'd think that woman could see it giving trouble. Being a supposed seer and all... Still waiting on that painful path that leads to friendship or whatever it was... Well, anyway... I'll leave it up to you, then." The raider wiped off his name that he'd just written for Quest 85. Things could and would go wrong, no doubt. But he was not the only one that could fix them. And he had no desire whatsoever to having to pass through Strivvi. The raider nodded to Hoptet, then went back upstairs. Walking up the stairs, Guts suddenly stopped. The way Byblos looked... Probably because of that book... That could have been Nerwen... Realizing that, Guts asked for a bottle of wine from Scheherazade. Quote

I don't know when, but soon, anyways. What's new on the quest board? Anything exciting?" Quote

Endgame Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "He still in the vigilante business, or...?" I crane my head to look at the questboard. "Let's see. Giant crustaceanorpions needing help, a newspaper needing help, some gruesome Hinckwell event, Hinckwell crates being robbed by the Shadeaux, dark prophecies from the veterans... The usual." Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Yes, although I don't believe it's small, there's just less in it. And, haha, no, I'm no relation to those ruffians, I assure you. Very few of my family would acknowledge civilization exists beyond the Mistlands treetops, and even less would venture out!" His eye's widened, his breathe sharpened, his face contorted into a face of worry. The revelation shocked Thothwick, being far worse than he imagined. Still trying to process the information, Thothwick excused the Metasimians from Gut's presence. He thanked him with genuine thanks, but with a voice that suggested the majority of his thoughts were focused elsewhere. "Thank you, Guts, that's ... that's very kind of you; I appreciate the... information, thank you. Take care, t-thank you." Hoptet raised his hand in thanks to Guts, and returned the polite nod. After leaving his partner a moment to think, Hoptet interrupted Thothwicks concentration. "Bad?" Thothwick bit his lip, and shook his head. "Worse." Quote
Kintobor Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Yeah, sort of. He was out and about doing odd jobs a few days ago." "Yeah, sounds like it." Karie giggles briefly, grabbing a pitcher of water and pouring herself a drink. She takes a sip but stops, as she feels something soft rubbing against her leg. She looks down only to see a black and white cat rubbing against her leg lovingly. "Mreoow?" "Sorrow, anyone in her own any cats?" Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Erdathcath pops into the Hall for a brief moment, signing her name under Quest 84, and 85. Even though she had a large amount of quests already signed under, it was worth it to try for more. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Tesni re-entered the hall, she had been relaxing on the coast for a while. Seeing the board she grinned and signed her name under Quest 85 it would be good to give Dryw a workout. Quote

She looks down only to see a black and white cat rubbing against her leg lovingly. "Mreoow?" "Sorrow, anyone in her own any cats?" I stop taking a sip from my drink when I hear the meow from underneath the table. "No, not that I know of. Dragons, bats... but no cat owners in here. the only cat owner I've met during my Heroica career was..." It was then that the significance of the cats colors struck me. "...Your sister." I look down at the feline, looking more closely at the breed. I raise my eyebrows at its multicolored fur; it was the same breed. "And this is the same breed she used on the night of the Ball. ...Do you still have the Catsuit, Karie? Maybe it's smelling it on you?" Quote
Kintobor Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Karie was slightly taking back knowing the cat was probably owned by her sister. Why was she it here, and how did it get in the hall? "Well, this is... awkward." She took her sweater off to reveal a loose fitting shirt, her sister's Catsuit wrapped around her waist. She unraveled it and tossed it to Sorrow hoping the feline would follow. It watches the catsuit sail into the air as it's directed towards Sorrow. "Purr..." The cat continues to show it's affection towards Karie. "Uhhh! It probably smells me. I guess me and my sister had the... same... aroma?" Karie wasn't sure why the cat had tracked her down, or what it was doing staring at her with it's big, cuddly eyes. The cat sits on the hall floor, it's tail swaying back an forth on ground. She looked about, just to ensure no one else was looking for it. "Mreoow-eoow!" Quote
Endgame Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) I fail to catch the catsuit in time, the outfit instead landing squarely on my head. "So the old man has old man reflexes. Who would've known." Shaking Syntax's chiding voice out of my skull, I pick the leather outfit off of my head and hand it back to Karie. "Uhmm. Let's try not to repeat that stunt again, okay? "Anyway, the cat seems to have eyes for you, not your clothing. What do you think you'll do with it? Stray cats typically don't last long in Eubric..." I neglect to mention I killed a few of this cat's siblings. Edited September 24, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Kintobor Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 "Well, I don't see anything wrong with keeping it (so long as it doesn't have fleas)." Karie picks the cat up, it's hind legs sagging down. As Karie looks it over, it rubs it's head on her hands. "I believe our feline friend's female." She puts the cat down on the ground. She asks about for a bowl and fills it with some water, placing it next to the cat. "I'm thinking... Hershey." *laps water up* Quote
Endgame Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) I pet the cat, the feline hazarding a lick of my hand. It gives a small cough before returning to its water, this time more rapidly. "Undead hands don't taste too good, apparently. Hershey sounds like a great name for the little fellow." I chuckle. Once upon a time, when dinosaurs ruled the earth and your grandfather was only 5 years old - I cared for a pet of my own, a gift from my father. A spider. A three foot long Wladurkian Gigaspider. I named him Fuzzy." I note. Quote
