"Indeed it was. I'm no king maker or country shaper, but I was hired to protect that bridge. Hopefully that was a just decision."

"I think it was perfectly just. I was hired to unite the clans and reach a peaceful resolution between them. Though that cost a price of a battle. "

Kiray walks up to the quest board and sees there is a quest for inexperienced adventurers.

Kiray signs up for Quest #104.

"Sounds like this business didn't go down nearly as well as Dastan, then, I take it." Still curious but unwilling to provoke what was obviously a tense situation, Arthur begins opening the second box.

------------------------------------------------

At the doors to the Hall, a dark-garbed figure carrying a crossbow enters. As she walks to the Quest board, she scans the room for her target, making a face when she finally spots the Dragonlord still speaking to Noctus Shadeaux.

"Hmpf."

Extracting a pen from her satchel, she quickly and professionally signs her name to Quest 104 before taking a seat at the opposite end of the room, and all those who passed by could see her name: Diana N. Justus, Ace Assassin.

"Mighty fancy cloak there, Arthur. I've done plenty of work for the house, all I ever got was this little guy!" he laughed, reaching to pull Arx away from the cloak he was trying to bundle himself up in, "Wouldn't trade him for anything now, though. C'mon, Arx, quit foolin' around with Arthur's new cape."

Arx reluctantly unwrapped himself from the embroidered cloth.

<"Really? Because I'd trade you for a cloak this nice in a heartbeat!">

"Haha, would ya now? Well maybe Fabian can rig you up something fabulous."

Actaeon watches the woman as she takes her seat a few tables away. Should I talk to her? She looks like she knows something no one else does, and she doesn't look happy. He waits for another minute trying to decide. Curse it. You're afraid because she's a girl. Don't be a coward, go up and talk to her. Besides, it's not like you're interested, you're just trying to get information.

He finally stands up and walks slowly toward her.

"Hello," he says, as he approaches, "I see you signed up for Quest #104. I am signed up for the same quest. What are you in it for? Gold? Glory? Or perhaps because of some injustice that needs remedied?"

"Haha, would ya now? Well maybe Fabian can rig you up something fabulous."

"Clothes for a Dragon. Now that would be something worth seeing," before noticing something was amiss amongst his belongings: namely, three tins of bright polish spilled all over his new cloak by Arx's playing.

"Oh, no! My cloak is..." The Skirmisher trails off as the fabric soaks up the glossy polish and begins to grow a little brighter. "...not...ruined?" he finishes in confusion. He reaches for a corner of the garment and examines it with his Magnifying glass. "Strange," he says, "The way these threads shimmer and shine...I've never seen...actually, wait, I have." Arthur rummages in his pack for his old robes before remembering he'd sold them to Ellaria. "Some of the robes in the Marketplace offer protection--I'd bet you anything at least some of them are woven with this same fiber."

"Moon Silk, perhaps?" a voice offers from inside Arthur's bag.

Arthur jumps, startled, before remembering the passenger he'd been carrying around since that dreadful affair in the Regret's lair. "Bookmark! I completely forgot I'd been carrying you! Thormanil, Arx, Alex, Hoke this is Bookmark. We rescued him from the lair of a mad being, and now he's going to live in the Library for a bit. I need to take him there, actually, and I might as well ask Byblos about this 'Moon Silk' while I'm at it. Keep an eye on my stuff while I'm gone, alright?" With that note, Arthur leaves for the Library, cloak and Bookmark in tow.

Diana rolls her eyes.

"Yes, like I've never heard that one before." She snorts then crosses her arms and leans back in her chair. "The Dragonlord's pretty important, in case you didn't know. He's actually one of the leaders of Heroica--they're called Veterans, with a capital V. If something's bad enough that a Veteran of Heroica's asking for help, then something big is going down. And for something that big, you need the best." The Ace Assassin smirks. "That would be me--Diana N. Justus, Ace Assassin."

Catching Hoke's glance, Thormanil shrugs. "..Well thats a first, heh. Anything you think he wouldn't miss?" he laughs, leaning back in his chair.

The best? That's a bit contrary to what I've been hearing. Actaeon thinks. "So then you think there will be some assassinating to be done, then? What do you expect us to encounter on this quest?"

Kiray had been watching Actaeon and Diana converse. It had been awhile since she had signed up for a quest, she could barely even remember the first and only one she did it had been months. Kiray pushed her hair behind her ear before taking a breath and she stood. Timidly she moved up to the two.

"Sorry I was eavesdropping, but I heard you mention one of the Veterans is asking for help. If something happened, why wouldn't he call in a larger force than just four to six? Do you know more than us? Sorry for the questions," Kiray rambled, stumbling over a word or two.

"Ah, see, that's where the other half of the situation comes in." She jerks her head towards the unusually pale Count the Dragonlord was speaking to. "It all comes down to politics. Count Shadeaux was already a very private man, but ever since he had a bad run-in with some Heroes he's been even more cautious and distrustful. The events at the Foundation Day Ball didn't help, either. He wants no-namers so that everything remains discreet--and so that if we decide to turn on him again he's got a better chance of getting away." She casually stretches out her right hand, examining her nails as if bored. "I'm an Assassin--we specialize in discretion. Especially the permanent kind."

After a pause, he asks, "Just curious, how do you know all of this?" He tries his best to hide the suspicion in his voice.

"Kiray Nastayo, you can call me Kiray, Sir...?" she said, trying to get a closer look at the face of the hooded man.

"Oh, right," Actaeon says, removing his hood, "I'm Actaeon." He extends his hand for her to shake.

"My dad knows about all the important players in town. Has to, he's an Ace Assassin, just like me, only he works for a much more impressive person than the Dragonlord. Was actually his boss' idea for me to join Heroica in the first place."

"That makes sense. I actually was a part of the group that was at the Foundation Day Ball, and well, now it makes more sense."

14365514179_b1e4defe67_o.png

"No kidding," Diana remarks, seeming completely unsurprised.

-------------------------------------------------

Arthur returns to the Hall, a little worried about his two book-loving allies but confident the pair would work things out. Deftly dodging out of the way of another patron on his way out, he barely misses an Assassin with a ponytail, who leers at him in disgust.

14365514179_b1e4defe67_o.png

"Watch where you're going, jerk."

Shaking his head in disappointment--such arrogance for a girl so young--he makes his way back to the table with Hoke, Alex, and Thormanil. "So, anything interesting happen while I was gone?"

"Figures," Actaeon says, the disgust noticeable in his voice.

All the way to and back from he Market Place, Alexander was thinking about Quest 104 "There is the Dragonlord, there is the Cout Shadeux, this must be a really important think." finally he reaches a decision and, after entering the Hall he sign-up Quest: 104 "Why not? maybe it will be interesting." he thinks signing. He is returning to the table of before when he sees a dark-garbed girl carrying a crossbow that is speaking with two new heroes "And she is?" he asks to himself "She is new." he concludes approaching them. "Good day, masters. I'm Alexander Vandangant, archer and heroe, how it's going?"

With heavy shoulders, and a heavy mind, Erdathcath looks upon the Quest board, and notices that there is one more quest, the quest to do what her life has seemed to lead up to until this point. Killing the Regret. She reaches up, and signs her name. 'Erdathcath Midilinas, Quest #105'
