CMP Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) We all just need some simple and quick save-the-princess type of quest to pick us right back up, I think." "Hopefully it's easier than the last time I had to save a princess - it was in the middle of a damn war. Lions, Dragons, dragons, cultists, chimeras, demons. I'm still tryin' to figure out just what the hell happened there." Atramor shook his head and took another long sip of his drink. Edited July 17, 2014 by CallMePie Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Heckz opens the doors to the hall, not looking very fabulous as he was too tired. He was feeling rather dissapointed when he noticed there wasn't a welcoming party thrown for him. The sorcerer walks to an empty table where he started looking at his new sacks of gold, probably with pleasure. A lot of pleasure. He looked open for conversation though. Quote
Palathadric Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I cast a glance Heckz' way. "Bad business, eh?" I question. "Can't say I've had the best of times myself." Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Heckz looks up and sees the monk. "Tell me about it. I've been trapped in a darn school for six megablocking months, fighting demons and trying to talk some sense into badly dressed brats, and all I get is this measy pile of gold." He points at his bag of gold. "Speaking of which, where have you been?" Quote
Palathadric Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I chuckle. "I somehow recall signing up for that quest. It seems like I missed nothing. So Eubric's 'elite' students are not worth the trouble are they? I hope their families at least paid well. That bag does not at all look unsizeable." "My latest mission took me under Eubric once again. We..." I hesitate. Did I really want to let people like Heckz know about the gnomish colony? He seemed like a blabbermouth and the last thing the colony needed would be for one of Heroica's resident demons to hear about the situation down there. "Well, let me just say that there was far too little sunlight for my likely." I finish lamely. Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) "We didn't get much sunlight either. We were at the void, actually. It was filled with ugly little demons. I see now why you hate them so much. And if by 'elite' you mean pumpkin faced midgets who would just think about changing their grades when a disaster comes out, then yeah, they weren't worth the trouble." He then looks to one of the windows, where sunlight was coming out. "It's good to finally be able to tan again." He notices the Darkstar Wand, and how it looks as fabulous as he does, but then he remembers that it was borrowed from Erik. As soon as Erik comes in the hall, he gives the Darkstar Wand back. Demons...I fought too many of them in the dark underworld...too many of them. You remember the machine that Detective Hoples had? There was one like that, we had to destroy it. Instead of painting pictures though, like the one in our last quest, it was actually bringing out demons. Thank God we caught it when we did. He then looks to one of the windows, where sunlight was coming out. "It's good to finally be able to tan again." I chuckle, somehow able to take in the humour without growing sour. "You know there are mages who could give you one of those without the need for sunlight." I pause for a brief moment. "So, Heckz, brought back any goodies from the 'void?' Any gems? I would be interested in a garnet or aquamarine especially." Quote
Kintobor Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Karie, bored an longing for company, trudges lazily to the table Heckz and the robed gentleman were sitting at, and points at one of the chairs, her drink in the other hand. "Mind if I take a seat, boys?" Quote

But before we get to that, I've got a certain thing that might please you." He says, before realizing how wrong that sounded, as he pulls out Watt's Artifact. "It can really hurt demons. Like, more than just a simple tan... " Karie, bored an longing for company, trudges lazily to the table Heckz and the robed gentleman were sitting at, and points at one of the chairs, her drink in the other hand. "Mind if I take a seat, boys?" Heckz looks at Karie, almost glaring. Almost. "Not at all, I was just discussing a business deal with the Monk." Edited July 18, 2014 by Cutcobra Quote
Endgame Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) I trudge into the hall, eyes glazed over from the exhausting quest. My cape dragging against the ground, I unceremoniously plop into the first stool I can find. Edited July 18, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Kintobor Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Karie sits down, taking her cloak off and setting it on the back of the chair. "Monk? So you're a man of the cloth? My name's Karie, Karie Alderflask. Yourself?" She tries to give a smile, although she doesn't know how sincere it is. Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Em sighs, standing, and shakes his head to clear his mind. He trudges over to the bar, ordering another drink, and glances around the hall. It seems a few other heroes were getting back from their respective quests. A few looked tired, to say the least. He grabs his drink and starts to head back to his seat, nodding to the heroes he was acquainted with who caught his eye. Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "Could be worse, I suppose," comes the reply. Em seats himself next to Sorrow, examining the man. "You seem tired. Rough quest?" Quote
Endgame Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) "Unbelievably. Seventy three suicidal students to save and thirteen or so different demons to take down... It was taxing, especially due to other... factors. Here's one: The quest took place in the void. It felt like we spent maybe 36 hours in there... But we walk out, and it turns out it's been six months. Six whole months, just gone... Could be worse, eh? Could almost always be worse, really." Edited July 18, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Em's eyes widen in surprise. "S-six months? In the void? I... Wow." Em shakes his head in disbelief. "Thirdteen demons in 36 hours. In six months. Sounds like you need a drink. Was the reward at least worth the effort?" Quote
Endgame Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "I don't really... Need monetary rewards, at this point. But yes, it was a pretty good chunk of change. And at least I saved some lives, and did some family bonding between the perilous battles." I sigh and take a sip of water. "You do anything interesting?" Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "Family bonding is reward enough?" Em remarks, though it sounded more like a question. He snorts. "Though for me, aside from having to deal with shades that touched my mind--" chills run up Em's spine as he remembers what they had shown him "--and, well, getting knocked flat by an explosion that felt like I had been smashed by a high dragon, no, nothing really interesting." Quote
Endgame Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "Sounds nasty - we encountered something similar, a sun demon who had a penchant for exploding. We had shades, too. Duplicates of ourselves, even, brought to life by an archdemon. With my prognosis, yes, bonding is important. I don't suppose you've met my granddaughter - Karie Alderflask?" Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "Shade duplicates just sounds... terrible. The archdemon sounds, uh, terrible-er." Em clears his throat, pausing before moving on. "Yes, I've met your granddaughter-- went questing together a few times. Helped her out with the whole Syndicate thing, or more accurately was around when that was going on. She's a hell of a fighter." Quote
Endgame Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "That she is. I suspect she's getting married to the Syndicate boss pretty soon - weird twist of fate if I've ever saw one." Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Em nods. "He's a good man, for what it's worth. I respect him. He's got vision, drive, ambition, passion." Em nods again. "He won't lead her astray, I'm sure." Quote
Myrddyn Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Erik staggers into the hall, passing the bar to grab something strong, and sits down near Heckz and Monk Pretzel. He accepts the Darkstar Wand from Heckz. "One afternoon in the void, and it turns out it was 6 months in the real world." Erik mutters, unbuckling bits of armour and stuffing them into his pack. "I don't even know what day it is." Quote
JimBee Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "We all just need some simple and quick save-the-princess type of quest to pick us right back up, I think." "Does saving an entire city count? Heheh..." Just then, Scheherazade left an envelope on the bar in front of Hybros. It bore the Ji Pei seal, so he quickly opened and read it. It was time. "Excuse me." He said to his companions. With a tip of hat he was gone, heading out the doors with his red cloak waving behind him. He pictured the destination in his head: the Ji Pei palace. Quote
Zepher Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "Strivvi.... were you not there once before? Which masons do you speak of? I have known an organization of brick masons in the Low Kingdoms..." "Yes," says Boomingham definitively. "And different kind of Masson. More sinister, uglier too." Ellaria grinned. "I would explain, Hybros-dear, but I could only give you insight about what it is like for a woman. These two gents...", Ellaria pointed at Atramor and Lawrence. "...can explain what they do with their manly bits." She then hesitates for a while. "Although, if you haven't seen a single person in the nude, explaining all that might be a tad challenging." Boomingham, having made his crack at Masson, sips on his drink, but coughs most of it back out at Ellaria's statement. The reason is unknown: laughing? shock? something else? Ellaria patted both Atramor and Lawrence on the shoulder. "I think these two are just downtrodden by the fact that we've travelled to Strivvi twice, and both times came home empty-handed due to circumstances not in our power. We all just need some simple and quick save-the-princess type of quest to pick us right back up, I think." "I wouldn't mind a princess right about now," commiserates Boomingham. Hybros, apparently off to bigger and badder things, gets up with a tip of the hat. Boomingham salutes, but realizes once the imp is gone that he is back with his Strivvian quest mates. He clears his throat. It seems Ellaria and Atramor are alright with how things ended, or at least willing to make an attempt to cheer up. Boomingham keeps his eyes on the bar. Quote
