CMP Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I grumble a little as Karie turns down my offer and stroll over to Atramor instead. "Well, you're looking in a better state than the last time I saw you. Any new items for sale?" I chuckle. " 'Fraid not. My last venture wasn't as profitable as I'd like." Atramor shook his head. Quote
Zepher Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 "Sounds like a pretty messed up bastard. Back when I was a witch I'd sometimes have my enemies throw themselves onto their own weapons, but, well, that's just a means to a quick end. Changin' minds by force? I can see why ya' hate the guy." Atramor swigged his drink and licked his lips. "So why'd this girl Karen spare him?" "Love, or she herself was brainwashed. Is there really a difference?" Boomingham chortles, and offers his hairy hand to the Monk. "Hello, names King Lawrence Boomingham of the Lost Kingdom, Slayer of the Bluehood and Steerpike the Poisoner," Boomingham clicks his tongue- "well, you know the deal. Have we met before? I'm terrible putting names to face and faces to names." Quote

I believe I must have seen you around the hall though. It seems like you and the hall's resident weapon dealer," I nod towards Atramor, "know each other fairly well. King of a lost kingdom, you say? Is that the kingdoms name or is the kingdom lost? I suppose if it were just the name you wouldn't be sitting here." "Anyhow, the name is Pretzel, Monk Pretzel." Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Heckz wanders aimlessly around the hall, trying to act important so that people don't think he is a fool. He notices a red clad woman. She looked hot enough, at least for him. He begins to approach the Sand Queen and sits in a chair. "Hello hello, the name's Heckz Brutenhal. Ghost-buster, Super Sleuth and School Inspector. Is there any reason a fine lady like yourself would be in Heroica Hall?" He asks, not knowing the Sand Queen is a Veteran. Edited July 23, 2014 by Cutcobra Quote
Endgame Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) The Sand Queen smiles, though probably not because of Heckz's advances. "Yes, Mr. Brutenhal, being a Veteran of this hall, I am aware of your numerous titles. Judging by your bravado, you did not know that?" Edited July 25, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Kintobor Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I raise my eyebrows. "Engaged? After no more than a day back? Wow... Well, congrats! Do you and Masson plan on going the full mile? Name change, shared residence, kids? I'm guessing you'll be Karie Cour afterwards. How soon is soon? Six months, nine months?" "Thanks! I'm still getting the guest list together. I'm going to assume you want to show up? We haven't decided yet. I may just go with Alderflask-Cour, and meet halfway. I'm moving into his place shortly, but kids? Not yet. I have no plans for kids. Yeesh, I've had just about enough of kids. Well... we're going to have it sooner than that. Like... a week?" Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Heckz stays open mouthed for a second, until he puts on a straight face. "I did not know that, actually. I only know of the Bronze Lynx, if that's his name. You must excuse my curiosity, but what is a Veteran doing in the hall in open view? I thought you guys were secretive." Quote

"Aye, the boy and I went on our first quest together. Since then, it's all been uphill with only a little bit of downhill." Boomingham beams and laughs at his own joke. "Pleasure to meet you, Pretzel. What are you a Monk of? I'm a Paladin of Ennoc, though I haven't got much of a taste for him." Barty pops into existence, and, expecting his arrival, Boomingham swats at him. Barty darts out of the way and shakes his head in disappointment. Quote
Endgame Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) "Of course I do, Karie. Any reason you want to keep the Alderflask name? And even if you don't want kids, I'm sure you'd make a good parent. A week! You're planning the wedding that fast?" ----------------------------------------- "We Veterans come out occasionally for holidays, Mr. Brutenhal, but I must confess this isn't a joyous occasion. Have you ever heard of an entity who goes by the name of The Regret, Mr. Brutenhal? His name has been whispered in these halls many times, as of late." Edited July 25, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Heckz shakes his head. "Doesn't ring a bell. I don't understand how people can fear something with a name like 'Regret'. That's one of the stupidest names I've ever heard. Right next to Malastor and S-" He stopped talking when he realized Sorrow was in the Hall too. "Anyways, that Regret will regret choosing me to kill him. How powerful is he? I mean, he must have some magical powers to be able to stop this Sand Queen's visions." Emjajoas Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) "Heckz," Em mutters, stopping while passing the man. "There's courageous and stupid. The two are closely related, but by the sound of things you're the latter. The Regret is powerful enough to crush any of us alone. Together, we only stand a chance if we don't misstep. He's got some sort of... artifact that holds great power. I don't really know the details, I'm not one for magic." Em nods to the Sand Queen in greeting, though remains focused on Heckz. "He was powerful enough to enslave half the Proggs. He was powerful enough to plague us heroes with... very realistic dreams for a few nights." Em shudders slightly. "On top of that, he's got an army willing to march to the gates of hell backing him, with figureheads strong enough to pose a threat without their near-omnipotent leader. They're not to be trifled with. The Regret is immortal and omnipotent. He's vying for the position of God, and he's seriously contesting it. The few times I've enounctered him, well..." _______________________ A regal-looking woman walks into the hall, looking to be troubled. Cutcobra Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 "Excuse you?" Heckz says angrily. "Insult me one more time and the Regret won't be your only problem, friend." He then calms down a little, after hearing what Em had to say about the Regret. "Hmm, I see now why people fear him. The Regret sounds even more powerful than that Archdemon I and other people faced in the Academy. Although... " He says, thinking about the rewards for the quest. "... anyone can be killed... even if they have some sort of magical artifact. I'd be glad to fight by your side if we get into the quest, Em. You are one of the few not so ugly and not stupid people around here." He looks at the woman near the questboard and he quickly gets up, signing his name for #109, then he gets back into his chair beside the Sand Queen and Em. Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Em holds up his hands in mock surrender. "I meant no ill will," he says, eyebrows raised. "But yes, anyone can be killed. And I intend to do everything I can to end him. I think, despite you saying otherwise, that makes me rather stupid." Em grins, though it's more sad than joyful. "How have you been, at any rate? You have... grown plenty since I saw you last." Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 "Are you calling me old?" He stays serious for a second until he laughs. "Just kidding. Since we parted ways I: Captured giant lizards, helped Father McCreary once again, helped solve two crimes and then I saved the Academy from being destroyed by an Archdemon and his army. I also became a sorcerer, well, a fabulous sorcerer." "Not much, really." He says jokingly. "What did you do, anyways? I'm sure you've run in with this 'regret' before." Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Em runs his hand through his hair. "What have I done? I suppose I've taken down a crime syndicate, found some old artifacts, helped out the Proggs with some Oculoid problems, and most recently killed off what could have been a civilization of shades before taking a rather... painful explosion." Em shrugs with a frown. "So not that much, either." Edited July 24, 2014 by emjajoas Quote

I purchased this flail from him, but he looked more like a arms dealer than a hero then. Now he's gone all shiny on us. So, Paladin of Ennoc without much of a taste for him? How does that work? I am a paladin myself. Although I am glad my angel doesn't take the liberty to appear randomly. She has left me embarrassed more than once. Yours seems like a more respectable fellow." Quote

The angel twists up his little face. "I suspect if your angel has ever embarrassed you, if is because you are doing something to be embarrassed by, which I suspect is more your fault than hers." "He goes on and on like that, don't mind him." Boomingham leans forward and whispers to Barty. "What the Hel happened in Strivvi? Where the Hel is Nyx?" Endgame Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) "You need not to refer to me in the third person, Mr. Brutenhal, unless you are once again misinformed - I am the Sand Queen. And your associate, Em, is quite right... The Regret is a formidable being. As you said, he is the first being I have ever heard of with the ability to block my visions so thoroughly. Demons have plagued my visions in the past, but The Regret... He manages to stop them completely and utterly. I have done some research on him. The Regret is only his chosen moniker, you know. In his many milleniums on Olegaia, he has had so many... As my understanding goes, his other titles include The White Devil, The Defiler, The Desecrator, The Silver Death, The Night Hunter, and in some cultures he is simply called Adversary. He frightens me, Mr. Brutenhal. I see no reason to hide that fact." ------------------------ "Hmm, fair enough. The choice is between you and Masson. Has he had any opinion on the matter? That makes sense. He's law enforcement, right?" Edited July 25, 2014 by Endgame Quote

She is more of...well...some would probably describe her as several handfuls, but never mind all that. I like to think that she means well, but sometimes I wonder... "Still, it seems wrong to push an angel...even if my angel seems a bit wrong to me. She does her job of protecting me and I suppose I should be thankful for that." Barty bows to the Monk. "Bartholomew, angel of Ennoc, at your service." The angel twists up his little face. "I suspect if your angel has ever embarrassed you, if is because you are doing something to be embarrassed by, which I suspect is more your fault than hers."
