Zepher Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Boomingham ambles over to the bar. "I'll join you," he says with a small smile. "Atramor is already gone, so you'll be needing the company. Barty and I were wondering where you'd got off to." Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Louis walks up to the quest board and signs up for Quest #106 Devilish Documents. Quote
Pandora Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Nyx can't help but smile at the voice, and turns and hugs Boomingham spontaneously. "I thought you'd left! I saw your name for another quest. Good job I'm not a Ranger, haha, I did a rubbish job spotting you. Cheers old friend!" She sees the restraint in his face but knows better than to point it out in public. "I had some things to do." she shrugs "Plus you know how I like my floral scented baths and hair styling." she grins. "Good, we can drink until one or other of us has to leave." Quote
Zepher Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 "I'll be out within a few days, far as I can tell, and I've got to go visit some people before I go - but that being said, I thought I may as well stick around until someone worth drinking with showed up, and, lo and behold, here you are. Your baths and all cost me a good hand in the quest I'm not on." Boomingham opens up his Tome of Affluence and flips to a page where he has a few names scribbled down in the margins. "Do me a favor while we drink. I know you haven't quested much with anyone who's not me and all, but for our brief stints apart--" he checks the list: "do you know Erdacath the druid, or Jeaux who is... an Evoker, I think it says- can't read my damn handwriting-" he glances up at her, "either name ring a bell? Are they any good?" Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Hybros nodded appreciatively. It would be good having someone as strong as Skrall along, or so it seemed to him. "Like I said, we were deeper than Zylstra, in the ruins of Nu Mercution. Myself, an auto... auto... machine hero named Jeaux, a young warden, Em," he indicated the heroes to Skrall who were in the Hall. "...and an old and senile relic of a paladin." Hybros gritted his teeth at the thought of Monk Pretzel. "There was also a demon-hunter and a Blue Assassin. The people of Zylstra were being taken by these Shade creatures... we went into Nu Mercution to find them. They were... created by a device that I helped deliver for a Doctor U'Reeka on a quest before. He was down there, experimenting with the device and Moon Elf magic. The Shades... I have seen them in their normal form..." he recalls the frightening image of the faceless creatures and the even more fearsome Void Husks. "But they also possessed elf corpses and copied the shape of the gnomes. We found the people of Zylstra, alive, but the Shades would not accept peace. The answers they had sought would come at the price of many deaths. I did not want to... but I had to kill them, along with the Doctor who defended them. My friend Wally was the Doctor's apprentice... I fear he will never be the same." Hybros looked on sadly. "There was also the Crimson Crown. Another group trying to control Eubric. I think they are wrong, but sometimes I wonder what it is that separates us from them. We are all fighting for what we think is right, but... not everyone can win, can they?" "Sounds like quite a bit of nasty business. Then again the world seems full of such nastiness these days. As for controlling Eubric, who ain't tryin' too? And no, not everyone can win, one of these days things are really gonna come to head and then we'll really folks true colors and how much they're willin' to bend what they think is "right" for the "good" of everyone." "Yes, that is what I am afraid of... so many of these usurpers I have encountered, and many more of which I am sure exist." Hybros sipped his tea. "It sounds like Strivvi has it much worse than Eubric does. Twice the same party has returned without gold or success... tell me, what are the difficulties there?" Quote

Hybros sipped his tea. "It sounds like Strivvi has it much worse than Eubric does. Twice the same party has returned without gold or success... tell me, what are the difficulties there?" Skrall finished off his ale. "Unlike the houses here in Eubric, Strivvi is a city openly divided. Two rivaling brothers tryin' to wrest control from each other while the city is strangled by outside influences like the Wolfgang right under their noses. They don't take too kindly to outside interference either, twice we've had to make it out of there because we tried pokin' our noses too deep. Tis an aggrivatin' place, we weren't even tryin' to get caught up in all the politics, simple mission, get in get out, but wouldn't ya know it ya can't set a foot in the place without pickin' a side. Mayhaps one of these days we'll actually make it back there and finish up the business for good." Skrall pulled out his pipe and lit a pinchful of pipeweed, "So tell me Hybros, seems to me ya were always carryin' around one of those big scythes. Ya don't seem to be carryin' any weapons with ya at all anymore. Taken up the way of a healer have ya?" Quote

Hehehe, if the Houses and whoever else aiming for power in this city are trying to hide it, they do a very poor job. They say that the third time is the charm, but I never was one for superstition, heh." Hybros finished his tea and inspected the grounds left over. He knew of mages that claimed to be able to discern fate from the bottom of tea cups, but didn't believe in them anymore than superstition. "In a way..." he patted Zoot's Reaper. "I have recently learned the ways of the Chi Monk. They use the power of the elements as well as that of healing. Most of all, they value the power body and mind as one. I did not consider such strength until my training... I have learned much. I have never known that I could control these weapons, the flow of what is called 'ether'. It is... amazing what one can discover..." "Ehehm, and what of you, Skrall? It seems you are skilled with the crossbow, but have you considered further training?" Quote

How ya supposed to trust somethin' ya can't see? Pandora Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 "Cost you a good hand in the quest you're not on...?" Nyx mutters confused, shaking her head, but Boomingham was already leafing through his book, mentioning names. "Hmm, I have quested with quite a few other heroes than you, you know. It's just that, as it happens, I don't know either of those names. Ah, I'm sure you'll soon have the measure of them, and them of you, too. I'd like to say 'surely any Heroican can be relied upon' but I'm not entirely sure I would believe myself if I said it." Nyx looks away, sipping her drink and still enjoying watching Hybros and Skrall together nearby, deep in conversation and both likely with sore necks. Quote

Zepher Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 "Not on yet-- leaving for soon," mutters Boomingham in an attempt to clarify, but it's too quiet for Nyx to hear. "I'd like to imagine the same - you know, that anyone should be able to be trusted. Any Heroican. But after I took on the Syndicate, well, that went right on out the window." Boomingham shrugs. "That's life, I guess. Onwards and upwards all the same." Boomingham looks at her, tired all of a sudden, his eyelids droopy. "I'm sorry if there was any bad blood in Strivvi. I felt off, and felt you were much the same way. Maybe our different ages - Hel, different eras - catch up to us sometimes." Boomingham picks up his Tome suddenly, still open to where he has notes in the margins. "This is for you, you know, if anything happens to me. At least the good parts. I'm trying to fix it up to be an alright book. Share it with Ellaria and Atramor and Hybros and Mr. Marvelo if you ever find him, and I think Barty would probably still look after you, too, if he could." Barty pops into existence for the blink of an eye and nods empathically before poofing away again. Quote

JimBee Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Skrall stared into empty space watching his smoke rings play among the rafters, "Satisfaction, little one, satisfaction." Hybros grins. He sits silently for a moment, and takes note of the chosen heroes for Quest 107. "It looks like the hunt will begin again soon, eheh." He waves to Nyx who has taken a seat near Boomingham. He touches the brim of his hat at Skrall and heads over to the bar. "Hello Nyx, it seems we will be questing together again... I look forward to it, eheh. Lawrence, until next time." He says with a small grin, hoping he'd get to quest with the paladin again soon. He looked for Ellaria, but wasn't able to spot her so he departed for a quick stop at the Marketplace. Quote
