Annienal notices the young girl point at her and feels put on the spot. At the mention of an ogre, she feels even more out in the open. Her timidness comes out immediately as she speaks to the young girl.

"Um.... you mean me? Against... a hostile ogre? Well, I don't know, that sounds a little... frightening."

She looks around, trying to change the subject as quickly as she can, noticing the cute bear.

"That's a cute little bear you have there, what's his name?"

Look, kid. I don't think you're listening. Skrall's an honest ogre, if he has any debts he'll pay them in time. If that's not good enough for you, I'll pay them. Fact of the matter is, no Hero is hunting down another on my watch. If you want that sort of mess, hit the Arena.

Polly holds her bear up for the elf's inspection. Annie notes a momentary glearm of purple in the bears eyes as the little girl holds it up.

"This is Mr. Sanders! And of course I mean you. I mean you have a really cool shield and a really awesome sharp... um whatever that pole thing is. I'm sure between the three of us we could take down this Skrull fellow, goddess killer or not. I'm sure the rogue was just exaggerating anyways, hall talk and all that."

"Honest or not, he should have settled his debts, but I'm not the one he needs to settle them with. For an assassin of light, you sure seem to not like facing it."

"Definitely harboring a fugitive."

Annienal feels confused as the young girl goes on about the ogre, even more after she swears her bears eyes gleamed purple.

"Can I ask why you want to kill this Skrull? You seem awfully convinced about killing him. And my weapon is a halbred, just so you know."

Annienal turns to the hooded man, looking intimidated by his garb and his weaponry.

14843699811_088fbcaeeb_o.jpg

"Um, excuse me, can you tell me why this little girl wants this ogre dead? My name's... my name's Annienal."

She murmurs her name to the assassin.

I'm looking out for your own benefit, kid. You're not going to get anywhere hunting down a well-respected hero with your little mob. It hardly matters anyways, Skrall's left on a quest. You missed him. I'm all for bringing this to a peaceful conclusion, but if you want to talk to Skrall you'll just have to sit back and wait.

"Um, excuse me, can you tell me why this little girl wants this ogre dead? My name's... my name's Annienal."

She murmurs her name to the assassin.

Now here's how you do things politely. Greeting, ma'am, I'm Dyric Rone. As for this kid, apparently Skrall's got a few debts he needs to pay. If you ask me, that's far from an excuse to go hunting Heroes.

"Polite his smug little face. If he's not hiding him, I'm sure he's going to collect the bounty himself, Mr. Sanders."

Polly's face drooped a little at Dyric's mention of Skrall's quest.

"Well maybe he and I will come to some sort of arrangement then, when is he supposed to get back?"

I honestly wish I knew, I've been meaning to talk to him myself. It's been a while. This Hall has some weird time distortion or something about it, but I would give it a month or so at least.

Annienal blushes as she's complimented by Dyric. She still felt intimidated by him, but she was like that with just about everyone.

"Oh, I didn't realize this Skrall was a hero. I'm sorry little girl, I have no real issue with the ogre. Sorry."

She turns away from the little girl and Mr. Sanders and tries to find words to speak to Dyric.

"So... um... hi, Dyric. Sorry, I'm not very good when it comes to talking to new people... or friends to be honest." She says hesitantly.

"A whole month!"

Polly's lip trembled a little.

"What now, Mr. Sanders?"

At least. Some quests have taken up half a year.

It's perfectly alright. You'll find plenty of friends here in the Hall, we're all friends here.

Dyric pauses a moment. Well, most of us, anyways.

"It's okay, I didn't get along with a lot of the students at the college I was at. Then again, I really didn't make any attempts to talk to anyone. It's good to hear the hall's a friendly place.

Anyone I should avoid? I'm really not looking for a fight."

She replies nervously.

I couldn't in good conscious steer you away from a Hero because of a problem I may have with them. Feel free to judge as you see fit, and make friends based on your own instincts, not mine.

On the other hand, though, if you want to be pointed in the direction of some of the more noble heroes around, I could certainly help.

I take a sip of my drink as a new wave of heroes floods into the hall.

"Aren't some of you a little young for this Heroica business?"

14654654950_4c17fc1d18_t.jpg

"Aren't some of you a little old for the heroica business?"

"Why would anyone want to be saved by a skeleton, ew."

Posted

"I am too old. That is why I don't plan on questing anymore." I shrug.

"But, truly... Do you plan on joining this organization? Do you have a home to return to, at least?"

14654654950_4c17fc1d18_t.jpg

"Well I was here for other business, but that seems to have been postponed." Polly shot a rather aggravated glance at Dyric. "And of course I've got a home, but I'm not going back there. What do you mean organization? I thought this was just another bar where big tough heroic types liked to hang out?"

Posted

Hey, Sorrow. If you've heading out, could I possibly buy your bow of you?

You've been poorly informed indeed. Heroica Hall is a place for heroes to gather and venture on quests for the betterment of Eubric and surrounding nations. Well, that's the general atmosphere, there are of course those who are here for the money, and not all of them are bad people. I suppose it's up to you to decide why you're here.

Posted

"No. It isn't. We're heroes for hire, I suppose. People are in need, they come here... And we heroes do the rest. I've done everything from slaying archdemons to escorting cargo. It's an interesting job, but a taxing one, too. Right now, some dangerous quests are going on... Expeditions underground, laying siege on the castle of an abomination with a god complex... It's rewarding though, at least."

Hey, Sorrow. If you've heading out, could I possibly buy your bow of you?

I give a sad smile.

"Define "going out", Dyric. Do you know?"

"I guess that sounds like sound advice. I believe I should get going, though. I really ought to purchase some things from the Market... and other things.

Thank you for your time, um... Mr. Dyric."

She gets up, grabs her things, and begins to head outside, but before she does she notices the quest board. Noticing only one quest available, Annienal signs up for Quest 109: Dream Scape before heading out.

"Age. I've lived for more than four centuries, Dyric. It's due time the Grim Reaper caught up with me, huh?

But I've fulfilled my bucket list. Saved some lives. Found a permanent home. Met the last of my family, and watched her get married a few weeks back. I've fulfilled what I needed to."

I just... I don't know, I thought the Veterans had some sort of magic that would prevent that sort of thing. I don't pretend to understand their abilities but...

...So you're at peace with this, then? You're going to be alright?
