The Chosen Minifigure Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 "Well, there was a lot of stunning involved. My fellow mage Sirecon got a hood, and, i got a staff. I've still got it." In reply tme his statement about Druids; "Not necessarily. Druids are just wizards that are skilled in forest Magic and healing. In fact, what with my... curse, u could become an evil Druid myself one day." Warlen grinned evilly. "So, how did you meet Alf?" Quote
Jebediahs Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 "First saw him jump from the top of the stairs-oh Alfred! Yes, the mage in my former party that practices necromancy destroyed the golem and I managed to recover enough pieces of him to have his body reconstituted by a mage far more skilled in earth magic than I." Nur strokes his chin briefly. "Ah, so you must be tainted in some way to become a dark druid? How have you been cursed?" Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 "Not quite a dark Druid...anyway, I'll let Quarion explain. You're probably tired of my voice." Before he could be interrupted, Quarion launched into the story. "Long ago, and by long I mean 3 years ago, Warlen was still living with his kind, and I was still... living. I was a rouge, who had come to the kingdom of the elves to help them defeat a dragon, by the name of Nebulae. I was bored for the first few days, so I wandered the forest, and it was by the river Darguill that I met Warlen Melimane. He was practicing his forest Magic, and we soon became friends. On the day when I was deemed to fight Nebulae, the great dragon burned me with dark flame from the pits of hell, scarring me and setting in motion events that no Elven cleric could heal without corrupting themselves. And so up came Warlen, a young Elven mage back then, and he cast a spell that meant I would live... with both reward and price. The reward? I was alive, and without my body, my mind could think freely, therefore allowing me to be amazingly intelligent. The Price? I was reduced to a floating, flaming head, and stripped of my Rougish powers. But Warlen paid a far worse price. The darkness corrupted him and his staff, so that now he is a practitioner of dark Magyk, against his will. Ever since, him and I have traveled the land, looking for a cure to my bodylessness, and the corruption of his soul. " As Quarion concluded, Warlen snapped to attention. "There's more story before and after, but I don't want to force it on you." He winked. And Quarion said: "Yep, some Fan-Tastic battles we've had before Heroica. Quote
Jebediahs Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Realizing he was still standing, Nur peered over the bannister's edge to check on Alfred before taking a seat. "So, what remedies have you explored already? Do you have any leads on where to head at this point? Have you tried the witches of the Babeleth Darklands? I know they can cure some mutations but as far as reversing your conditions...I'm not quite sure." Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Warlen grimaced. "Well, you may have noticed my natural sense of humour. Alas, it is but a... fácade, that I use to hold back the dark. I have looked into some cures, but that would require a few more story's... unless you have the time?" Quote
Jebediahs Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 "Aye, if you don't mind if I eat? It appears my meal is finally ready." Quote
CMP Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Miderun wobbled back to the hall after a month of questing, yet she hardly seemed worn out at all as she pulled up a seat to the bar Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Warlen responded, "Sure, go right ahead. Now, before this, I want to explain our childhoods to you. It will make more sense if the story's clearer." He winked. "Quarion? You first." Quarion sighed sadly. "I raised myself, parentless, on the streets of Drandora port. I had a girlfriend, a feisty young girl with flaming orange hair, but she was killed by the blade of a sailor she tried to pickpocket. That, my friend, is how I started to go on adventures. Eventually, that is how I ended up meeting Warlen. All I have left of her is this..." Quarion starts to hum, then begins singing in a low voice. "The lovers met on battlefield, To enemy neither would yield, They fought for right, Continued till night, And then united to stop the blight. When time had come, And they had Won, They kissed and wept, And then they slept, But never, ever did they forget." As the silence set in, the hall armed to go quiet for Quarion. He was barely aware of Warlen telling his take, as he drifted of into his memory. "Well, I never met my Mother and Father. Seeing as how I'm a half elf, I never got to meet mum. As for dad, he died in the second quest of... no, Battle of the final tower. Long story short, my dad was a powerful general, and his dying wish was that I should become an Archmage. After much deliberation, I went to live with the Elven Mages. Before I could finish training, along comes Quarion, long travels, lotsa fun, and now? Here in the heroica, several new friends, including a new..." he grinned. " Inner Circle." His smile lessened, but didn't disappear. "So, now you know our... orgins, as it were. Any comments before we move on?" Edited October 3, 2014 by The Chosen Minifigure Quote

"How did these Elven Mages treat you during your training? In my experience the pure-blooded elves generally look at elves of mixed race with much disdain as if they are some how less than, inferior. Must have been hard." Quote
Cutcobra Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Heckz walks up to the questboard and takes special interest in the mistery quest. He signs up for Quest #116, bolding the title Super Sleuth while signing up. He then walks to his table again, looking bored and open for conversation. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) "Not as bad as you might expect. Most of the oldies... put up with me, and the young elves liked me. The Archmage at that time really took care of me as well. There was one Father-Son pair who hated me." Warlen grinned mischievously. "I left them a little... present, when I left." Quarion spoke up. "Yep. I doubt the 'Ghost' made them like you any more." Edited October 4, 2014 by The Chosen Minifigure Quote
Khorne Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 "He's a villain who uses and abuses the weak to please his body and get more power, trampling over goddamn decades of work just to do what? Reduce Eubric to a wasteland? Empower that horrid witch?" "Yep, definitely sounds like a man to my liking", Eric said, only half-joking. "Ulric's a man with a plan. Someone with an eye for seeing opportunities and a penchant for grabbing them. Can you really blame him for 'exploiting' the weak, as you claim? Perhaps the weak sought it themselves by not resisting. At least now they serve some purpose instead of just living a sad and pointless existence." Eric shrugged. "Seems to me you just don't very much like people whose opinions differ from yours." "One, we are not friends. We are coworkers who did a job. I don't want anything to do with greedy barbarians like our Nordic friend over there. And two, we may have done the right thing, but we did it for the wrong reasons which is just as bad. Eric told us he wanted nothing but the power and fame that came with the job," "Ouch, that's harsh, Necromancer. Its stings my cold Nordic heart hearing that. I really thought we had some chemistry and understanding going on over the last two Quest we did together.", the Nord chuckled and then finished the rest of his mead. "And hey, we all want power and fame in our lives. I'm just being honest about it." *snip* "This is assuming that Baba doesn't manage to summon a horde of demons that destroy everything and eat us all." Eric grinned. "If that's going to be the case, then there's nothing to fear. If we're all dead, none of us will have to live in a Wolfgang-run Eubric and this whole discussion will have been naught." "All politics aside, though. I found Babeleth to be quite an interesting place. Too bad the mutants spoil much of it." Quote
Duvors Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 "All politics aside, though. I found Babeleth to be quite an interesting place. Too bad the mutants spoil much of it." Throlar did not respond to this because he had already left, but it would be easy to guess what he would have said had he been there. Quote

K-Nut Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Althior returned to the hall, this time with Finnegan in his stride. The duo was silent as they made their way up the stairs and over to their usual table. Finnegan looked uneasy, however it was possible. Althior sat down to the table and placed his head in his hands. Finnegan made his way to the bar to grab a drink for his companion. He dropped it, on the table before taking a seat of his own. Althior opened his eyes and reached across the table for the drink as the once jovial duo remained silent. The Necromancer breathed in slowly as he ruffled through his pack, obviously searching for something. Finnegan looked around the room, gazing at different heroes in the process. He mutters, "A lone Mage followed by his faithful companion. When we did it, it was classy..." Althior looked up to the aura inquisitively, who, in return, shrunk back into his seat. As he began to search through the pack again, Althior spoke. "That's the first thing you've said since we got back. Getting back to your old self, are you?" His cold gaze did not shift from his work. The aura remained silent as Althior continued his work, paying Finnegan no attention. After a while, the Necromancer pulled out what he was looking for and placed his Oculoid Claw on the table. Althior began to shift his gaze towards it. Finnegan saw this, and began to speak once more. "I'm not sure that's the best idea-" Althior shifted his hard gaze to the aura and shot daggers at him. Finnegan quickly retracted his statement and sat back against the chair. Althior moved his gaze down back towards the claw as he began to examine it. It had been a year since they'd met, and Althior was still enthralled by these Oculoid creatures. Perhaps he saw a bit of himself in them, though he had denied it time and time again. Quote
Asphalt Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Vindsval re-enters the hall, walks up to the quest board, and scans the names of those signed up for the fields of glory. Hmm, Rufus, The Demon Germ, Warlen Melimane & Quarion, and Throlar Wineghilm, all strangers to me. I believe it was the Germ that asked me to join him, perhaps I should track him and these others down. He turns to the crowd in the hall, looking for the man who invited him on this journey. The one known face would be the place to begin. Quote
