Annienal get's up from her journal writings and looks around the hall, trying to discern if anything of interest had happened since she'd started writing.

"Seems to have gotten busier since I looked up last..." She didn't really recognize anyone, so she lifted her gear up onto her back and headed to the bar to order some cider.

Warlen motioned to his friends to pause, then ordered 90 chicken drumsticks on 3 seperate plates.

"Ok, my friends. Let's have an eating contest. You have 90 seconds and 30 drumsticks each. How many can you eat? Sorry Quarion, you'll have to sit this one out."

Ooc:

RULES FOR EATING CONTEST:

Each player rolls the dice 5 times (Max score 30.).

Add all the scores together, that is your total drumsticks eaten.

BONUS RULE: If you get 10 or less, you may get an extra roll. Repeat until you score is above 10.

Please don't cheat. You don't win anything, so what's the point?

My score:

1: 5

2: 6

3: 1

4: 2

5: 5

Total: 19

Miderun watched Vindsval and his two companions devouring chicken idly, then chuckled, turning back to the bar and sipping her ale. None of the current quests seemed to catch her eye, so after chatting with Skrall and catching up on the latest rumors with Scheherazade, things seemed quiet despite the new influx of heroes returning from their own quests.

"Yo man, thanks for asking. No one has asked me yet! Where are you from, bro? I'm from here in Eubric itself - live on the outskirts of the Hovels. My family does alright - my dad's a cleric, good dude, and my mom makes potions. It ain't half bad, and they bring home the dough and feed me, so I can't complain, ya know? Least I don't live in the hovels, know what I'm saying. I wasn't good at either of those things though, so I told them I'd be a hero for a bit, and they were cool with that. Hel good rents."

"I see. Any siblings? Do your parents speak like you as well, or did you pick that up from somewhere else...?"

Benji nods at Vindsval as he approaches.

Vindsval Pushes the plate of chicken bones away from him, wipes his mouth with a hand and picks up his cask. He smiles and moves back to CArvenhall and Bobby's table.

I would not have guessed you were a local.

"Man everyone is really into my talking." Bobby smiles. "I learned it on the streets, dog. This is the way me and my homies talk to each other. And yeah, I got an older sister and an older brother. He's learning to be a potion master, and she's over at the the academy." Bobby swallows a huge portion of his drink. "Oh, that's the good stuff, man."

"Hero is a relative term. There's the mage over there with his Stone Guardian, and there was a nord who's been lingering around this hall for as long as we have. Name was Eric, I believe. It's not like the reward was all that alluring to these rogues, nor was it able to keep them on track. Two of the party went out in battle and somehow made their way back here,"

"Eric? Yes, I know him... I have not seen this man in a long time." Hybros glanced around the room, just in time to see the nord exit the Hall. The imp nodded. "He will be back."

He stirred the last of his tea idly. "I suppose you are right about 'heroes'. How can any of us call ourselves more than mercenaries?"

Hybros, Level 32.75 Chi Monk (JimBee)

Remembering his experience with the Guild of Invision at Guffington Manor, Hybros hoped that his good reputation with them would be noted when the employers of Quest 118 chose their heroes.

OOC: Just a side note because I forgot about the reputation thing.

He stirred the last of his tea idly. "I suppose you are right about 'heroes'. How can any of us call ourselves more than mercenaries?"

Althior stared across the bar blankly. This was a recent belief that he discovered he had. "We are but mercenaries," He said, coldly, "Anyone who says they're a true hero is lying to themselves. There's a fine line between black and white. You mix the two together and you get grey. And no matter how much white you try to add back in, it's never the same. You never get anything back except for more and more grey."

Hybros scratched his head. Clearly the man had put some thought into this whole 'hero' business, but his metaphors didn't make much sense to the imp. "Black, white, grey... why do you speak of these colors? They only mean what they are. I do not think being a heroic or not is as simple as that."

"Maybe not being heroic, but your actions and morality? That's all it boils down to. You can't forget about the crimes you've committed; the awful things you've done. You make a wrong or selfish choice out there even once and you have no right to call yourself a hero. Took me a few of those bad choices to get it in my head that I'm nothing but a low leveled mercenary, and a pretty bad one at that. Just look at my records,"

"But what is bad and what is good? Are bad choice only the ones that will come back to haunt you? What about other people? Someone you kill today may save many people later, or maybe that person could have saved many lives. Who is to say?"

En Sabah Nur excuses himself from the table as the eating contest concludes and heads downstairs. "Alright Alfred, most of the time I use these things, I miss or get attacked. It is time for some practice. Stand away from the board a tad, please then do not move, you will remained unharmed." Alfred complies as Nur begins throwing shuriken at the golem.

"Someone I kill today is killed for a reason. It's not like the people we come into contact with on these jobs are good people. If they were they wouldn't be meddling in our affairs. You've been around long enough to know the types of people we come across. How many of them have had the slightest hint of being able to help anyone besides themselves?"

Hybros shrugged. "Like you said, we are just mercenaries. I have no doubts that our employers are sometimes far from heroic. Anyone they want killed probably will be if the price is right. I do not think everyone I have had the opportunity to kill deserved death."

"Perhaps not. But when it comes down between you and them in the heat of battle, there's not much time to consider the weight of your actions," He takes a slow sip of the drink in front of him, "It's after the fact when you have your regrets." He stated, simply.

The door opens silently, a gentle breath of cool night air blowing past the cloaked figure. He walks quietly and quickly, but not with haste, rather instead with calm purpose. Around his shoulders is wrapped a gray cloak made of some fine foreign fur.

He pauses in front of the questing board, studying the various scrolls and parchments tacked up. From some pocket deep inside his wraps, he pulls out a worn quill and scratches out a name onto the team sheet for the Fields of Glory.

Lind Whisperer signs up for the Fields of Glory.

Arthur trudges into the Hall, thoroughly tired--but he knows he has work to do. First, he pins a small note to the Quest board:

• For Sale: Heavy Armor (SP: 5, immune to Fragile; bodywear, suitable for barbarians, knights, dragoons, skirmishers and regulators). 115 Gold, see Arthur Regulus if interested.

It doesn't take him long to spot three of his correspondents recuperating from their own adventures; he quickly passes them all by, leaving 50 Gold for Benji, 120 Gold for Sarge, and finally collapsing into a chair at Hybros and Althior's table, sliding 2 Scrap Metal and 50 Gold to the latter.

"Don't mind me, I've just had a long night. A very, very long night." The Skirmisher once again curses the Veterans' time-dilation spell, when a thought crosses his mind...

...wait, I thought they'd removed their protections from me...?

He quickly dismisses it, however, being too exhausted to think about it.

"So, Hybros...did you manage to get a hold of Mizuki Kimura for me?"

Hoke trails into the Hall, and one not to let moss grow, signs up for the quests he sees on the board.

Erik enters the hall just in time to see someone pin an advertisement for heavy armour to the quest board.

He makes his way to stand next to the man's table, and places 115 gold next to him. "I'd be interested in that armour, Mr Regulus?"
