samurai-turtle Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I guess "bugging " the "Elf Girl" is over with, Germ said to himself. Then checking the quest board notice he was not chosen for the quest he sign up for. But, then notice Quest 117 and wonder what the "Paladins" have, so he sign up for 117. Quote
CMP Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 "Is this a private group, or might I pull up a stool?" "Sure." "Oh, um, thank you." Annienal sits down and places her book and a food in front of her. "I suppose I should introduce myself. My name's... my name's Annienal." She says softly, looking a little sheepish. "Good to meet you. I haven't met many myrcand before. Those in Spesiala tend to keep to themselves." Quote
Kintobor Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Vindsval backs up slightly to allow room for the petite woman. He softens his voice in order to not startle her. By all means my dear lady, if you would share my table, i would welcome you gladly. As my companion here has said, my name is Vindsval, called the Half-born. May the wanderer bless and guide your path. "Oh, um, thank you, but I'm confused by all these gods people keep talking about. H-he wouldn't happen to be related to the Voice in the Sky, would he?" Annienal asks somewhat hesitantly. "Good to meet you. I haven't met many myrcand before. Those in Spesiala tend to keep to themselves." "Oh, well I haven't met many... um, orocand before, if that makes up for it. I know a little orcish, I read about it at the academy... I'm, um... kind of a bookworm." She replies quietly, holding up Love Amongst the Dragons somewhat nervously. She wasn't even sure if the orocand could read. Quote

Miderun blinked, evidently surprised at Annienal's use of her language. "Studied orcish? I wasn't aware- I didn't know orcish was studied." She stared at the book as though it were a foreign object for a brief time. "We don't have a lot of those in Baltarok. Too hard to produce. I don't much see the point anyway. It's just words. If it's important, you could probably just learn it from somebody, right?" Quote

Most of my studies suggested that Legovia, Galadrya, and Celebryon were the main patron god and goddesses of elves." "Oh, well I haven't met many... um, orocand before, if that makes up for it. It went up to the end of the Orc Wars, I think. It had a bit of orcishlanguage in it, so I looked up more on the subject." Annienal stares blankly at Miderun for a moment before speaking. "Well, it's more than just words. Anyone can string words together, but it takes time to streamline them together to create a story. Generally stories are written for a purpose, usually because the author has a point to make, or something they want to the reader to leave with. Love Amongst the Dragon's is an important piece of Dastanese literature about mortality, nobility and... well, dragons and romance. Maybe you'd like to read a book I've got? I've got some pretty good ones with me if you'd like to try one of the classics. Not that I'm pushing you, or anything..." She looks away briefly before looking through her satchel for a book she thought the orc would appreciate. "If I might be so bold as to ask, who is the Voice in the Sky? "A love of books and knowledge is something to be admired, not to be embarrassed of, as you seem to be." Annienal shrugs, sinking into her seat slightly, her tall posture making it hard to be somewhat unnoticeable. "That's just it... I h-have no real idea... Some Docken fellow brought him up on occasion, but then again he was a little weird. I occasionally give a little prayer to Legovia, only because it's a force of habit. Some elves back at the academy were devote to her though, almost fanatically. Oh, no, it's just I'm... um... generally shy around everyone." Annienal replies quietly. Quote

I'm kind of hoping that there'll be another chance someday to visit a certain underground library... Oh, no, it's just I'm... um... generally shy around everyone." Annienal replies quietly. "You may in future find that to be one of your strongest strengths. The silent mouth listens and learns far more than the loose tongue." Quote

Scubacarrot Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 "Hm, I see you have missed me, heheheh!" Hybros' sarcasm was partially hidden by the bandages wrapped around his face. They may have also hidden his expression as he became more serious. "Much has happened. I am... still pondering it all. I have returned from two quests below the surface, where I have found many answers, and many more questions with them. About myself, about the world... I have made and lost some allies..." He thought about the Crimson Crown, the Moon Elves, Wally, the Baron, Posco, Daneeka, Heweryt and his cohorts, Nyx, Ellaria, Skrall, even Monk Pretzel... "But still I am left with the same purpose as before," he concluded simply. He looked down at the table. "It is strange, how much can happen and still how little things change." "What is it you have learned about yourself?" Guts asked, choosing to ignore the imp's remark. Quote

No Annienal, though I am familiar with "He who speaks from the heavens" your Voice in the Sky, he is not the Wanderer. The Wanderer, is but one of the aspects of the High God Wartan, Lord of my Mother's people. It is through him that knowledge is sought and the realms explored. True seekers of knowledge and experience of the world allow The Wanderer to guide them in all things. It is he whom I call upon for council, strength, and protection. I have met few of your people, the frozen wastes of my birth attract little of Fae. And most of those who have met me along my travels have been more likely to thrust a spear at me than the speak in king. It pleases me to meet a seeker of knowledge and a scholar. Though, at first glance, you seem to have very little of the warrior within you. How do you come to this hall? Edited October 16, 2014 by Asphalt Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Hoke awoke in stillness, eyes wide open, then quickly relaxing when he realized where he was: sunk deep into the large cushioned chair as the fire in the hearth crackled and glowed softly. He couldn't help but think he was having a conversation or a dream, but he couldn't remember what it was all about. He stretch his arms, his back and his legs, got up and grabbed his gear. He remembered he was not alone when a whip like tail traced the line on his jaw. Hoke fished out another piece of meat and ran his fingers down Torc's spine and tail, giving it a small tug. Torc opened her mouth and showed her barely visible teeth with a small frill extending from behind her head, but not in a aggressive manner. Hoke did the same, minus the frill, and chuckled. A chill had entered the Hall as the autumn began to set in. Hoke retrieved the fur mantle his family sent him from his pack and fastened the clasp around his neck. Torc re-positioned and nestled into a spot among the fur, leather and mail. He cinched on his back, adjusted his pouch, and shouldered his weapon of choice, and made his way out of the Hall and to the Marketplace to make sure he didn't forget anything. Quote

Asphalt Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Startling slightly at Throloar's sudden and peculiarly twitchy appearance, Vindsval looks down at the dwarf. Perhaps Mountain's son, it would be best if you kept from under foot. I would hate to step on you by mistake. He turns his head and looks towards the Hobgoblin standing above the humans in the room. Hmm, an Earthbound. It would seem that many green skins frequent these halls. What do you know of his kind Miderun? Edited October 16, 2014 by Asphalt Quote

"What 'classics' do elves read? We have a few tales that are always being passed down from parents to children. I'm guessing they're something like those." "Well, not exactly... Although there is some good elvish literature, I'm thinking more along the lines of what's generally considered classics. Here, I think you'd like "Lord of the Bloatflies". It's about a group of cadets who get stranded on an island as they try to survive." She holds the book out to Miderun eagerly, the book being distinctly thinner to Love Amongst the Dragons. "At least, I think you'd like it..." Vindsval chuckles softly to himself, then cuts it off abruptly so as not to offend the woman. Oh, I'm no fae. Just a timid, slightly lanky elf who's not sure how she got roped into a military academy. I was a student and cadet at Trost Military Academy in the High Kingdoms, and it's there I gravitated towards reading more than shoving swords into dummies like just about everybody else. Of course... stuff happened, and I got expelled. I needed to find something to make a living, so I made my way here after hearing of what happened in Baltarok and the Kingdom of the Red Lizard. You see, I'm really no combatant... but..." She holds up a leather bound book, clearly worn and aged, and holds it to her chest. "I... like to write." "Yo, man, pleasure to meet you." Flipz Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) As he passes the Quest board, Arthur heaves his pack, for once realizing its weight. I really should get rid of some of this stuff, he thinks to himself. Quickly sorting out some of his less-critical gear, the Skirmisher places a notice on the board. Items for Sale! Accepting any reasonable offers. • Ammit (WP:6, Greatsword, user gains 5 Ether for each kill) • Cloak of Deception (Free hits against the wearer have a 1/6 chance to be redirected to a random opponent; Backwear, suitable for anyone), • Ella's Pie (Permanently boosts max. ether by 5 but permanently decreases max. health by 5 when consumed.), If interested in these or any other items I own, please contact Arthur Regulus with your offer. Satisfied with his work, Arthur makes his way back to Hybros' table and resumes his seat, nodding respectfully to Guts as he does so. Edited October 16, 2014 by Flipz Quote
