Bobby reads over Milderun's shoulder for a short while, nodding along. He chuckles at one of the lines, breaking the Orc's concentration and alerting to her to his presence (or maybe she knew he was there all along and was choosing to ignore him, who knows, Bobby isn't inside her head after all).

"Yo, Milde, where you headin' to, my lady? What do you think I should head off to?"

[CMP]

Miderun held up one finger for a moment and didn't look up, ignoring Bobby for nearly half a minute while she finished reading her sentence and then closed the book.

"What? Oh, I have no idea. Mauwalt Scheherazade says the Bonapartes are the dominant military force on the Crystalline Sea. Mougauno, the ocean conquerors. That makes sense, I remember they're the ones who kept Tarok's forces out of Eubric. They must be very powerful. The Ji Pei are supposedly a mystery and come from Xu far away. There are creatures called aoi living there, and she says they build fantastic machines and travel in airships over both land and sea."

"It all kind of puts rescuing a berry farm in perspective. They both sound more heroic, in any case."

FM Note: Ah, I hadn't seen you remove your sign-up. If you're still willing, though, I'd like for you to come along--it's much easier to balance for similar Levels than dissimilar ones, and I think we'll have a lot of fun together.

Through the years of listening to the wild hogs he had encountered, Darksten heard the pig squeel about riches and glory. It was all the ranger needed to convince him he should attend.

"I will meet you there then"

With a curt nod to the pig, and with little thought for those he was leaving behind, he left the hall to stop at the Market before entering the Fields of Glory

Warlen considers the quests, then adds a not next to his signup for quest #119:

I am a quickwitted hero, and wish to gain a reputation with the Bonapartes.

My credentials are numerous, and include some little experience on the sea.

Ooc: I would prefer to go on Quest #119, but I don't mind either way.

"Damn straight they do. I dunno what to do. Might as well sign up for both, ya hear? Let fate do its thing." Bobby signs up for Quest 119 and Quest 120.

Warlen thinks back to a fight with a Vampire, not long after he left home.

Warlen sighed, and started to sing softly.

"Hope for a generation,

Dyric Rone walks again into the Hall. The Dread Pirate got away, but they had thinned his forces. Dyric decided to count that as a victory. He breathed in the air of the Hall, grinning at it's familiarity. Looking around, he spots a familiar face and quickly moves towards it.

Brother! It has been too long. How have you been?

Returning to the Hall after her adventures in R'kilf Namyrra briefly stops by the quest board to see if there's anything interesting being offered. Seeing one request from the Bonapartes she decides to sign up for that (quest #119) since she's had dealings with them before.

After that she sought out her former quest mates and returned the stuff she borrowed from both Atramor and Pretzel, before finally settling in a quiet corner for some personal time.

As I enter the Hall, my eyes pass over the quest board on the way to a seat.

"Hmm...a chance to work for the Bonapartes, eh? Not a chance I'd take lightly."

I sign up for Quest 119.

Skrall stumbled into the hall, his clothes disheveled and muddy, a bottle in hand. The ogre slouched over to the quest board, signing up for Quest 119 he trudged up the stairs ordered a tankard of ale and took a seat at the closest available table.

Seeing an ogre come in behind me and sign-up a quest without so much as a look around or an attempt at being discrete, I shake my head.

When will these people realize that these beasts have no place amongst the likes of us? I wonder.

Spying the Archmage, I approach Namyrra.

"I don't believe I returned this Staff of the Necromancer to you. You mentioned wanting to sell it before. How much for it?"

Atramor followed the others back into the hall tiredly. Quests were starting to seem less and less like victories, even if he knew they were for the best. He...enjoyed killing those Pongcanae. He couldn't deny that. But seeing the Dread Pirate escape...it was as cowardly as...well. The last time he'd encountered Pongcanae. He took his scrolls back from Namyrra and shoved a stack of shields onto Pretzel's table before heading over to the Quest Board.

Bonapartes. And Ji Pei? He scribbled his name down under Quest #120. It only felt appropriate. He had of course altered the course of the whole damn country.

The regulator slunk into a random chair, looking off towards the interior of the saloon as McCafferey scavenged for crumbs off the nearby tabletop - the remains of a meal the young orc girl sitting on the other side of the table had finished, her eyes glued to the book in front of her.

"I really don't know, make me an offer?"

Feeling generous, I shoot out: "150 gold good?"

"Sure, that sounds good. Deal." Namyrra accepts the gold from Pretzel and lets him keep the staff.

[Palathadric]

Thinking twice, I hand Namyrra 200 gold.

"Keep the change," I mutter. "Good work back there."

"Oh, and if you ever need to buy something at the marketplace, those guys owe me a favour or two, so I can get you a good deal."

I throw 100 gold Atramor's way.

"One thing you know how to do is to defeat those smelly furballs. Take this and let me be the first to know if you know of any good equipment on sale. Oh, and those money-hoarders at the marketplace give me a discount for saving their businesses. It's hardly worth mentioning, but if you've got anything to buy or upgrade, let me know, and I'll get a cheaper price for you...the same goes for you, "Assassin of Light."

Wondering whether or not it would be deemed offensive to hand gold to a rogue and an assassin at that, I just lean forward and query. "What does it mean to be an 'assassin of light' anyway?"

Thanks for the offer. I'm always looking to upgrade my kit.

My role is a necessary one. Criminals and villains are abound in Eubric, not to mention the rest of Olegia. As Assassin of the Light, I will do what it takes to eliminate such fiends so that one day, peace may be restored. That is why we're here, isn't it? To fight for peace?

"Oh, damn. Irony doesn't get any more blatant than that, mate."

"S'long as people live on Olegaia, I don't think total peace can happen. Fightin' for peace is a lost cause if ya' ask me. I fight for what I decide is right."

I throw 100 gold Atramor's way.

Atramor caught and pocketed the gold.

"Thanks. You're a crazy old bastard mate, but ya' sure can crack some skulls."

Atramor couldn't help but chuckling.

Total peace, sure. But Eubric is getting closer and closer to fixing this whole sham with the Houses, I can feel it. I heard about that night at the theater. We were almost there.

If I truly believed that, I'd have done it a long time ago. I'm talking about the Hinkwell/Shadeux engagement. Unity it what's going to bring peace to Eubric, and we need to halt the forces that would stop that unity until it does.
