Palathadric Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 "You're in Heroica Hall, Eubric Freeport, Island of Uland, Ole... Olegaia." He says drunkenly, but also somewhat diplomatically. "As for when, I can never keep track of that." "Orcish War was a few more'n 250 years ago, though." He adds helpfully. I chuckle as Erik offers his "help" to the mage. "What have you been up to lately, lad?" I query loudly. Quote
Actaeon Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Your first quest was difficult? What'd you have to do?[/color] Actaeon's face darkens. "We were faced with many morally... ambiguous decisions. Our party disagreed on the best course of action. Kiray and I were forced to fight the other members of our party to save the life of our friend. It's hard to lead a divided party." Actaeon pauses. "We were victorious in the end and we ended on good terms with all but one other hero, but the scars still remain." Quote

"You forgot to mention how I tried to lead a Pongcanis on and how I lied to kill a king for him, but ended up fighting him instead. Something tells me the Rito don't like you and me too much either. I'm still amazed we pulled off that battle against our own party. Lucky for us Diana was on our side." Quote
Zepher Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Matthias stares at Bobby for a couple of seconds - much the same blank stare Monk Pretzel has on his face - and then shakes the offered hand. "Name's Math, I'm a hero sure thing," he says, trying to mimic the mohawked man's strange speech. His tongue rebels, however, and he reverts to a calmer tone. "What are you drinking today, Master Bobby?" "Well it's nice to meet you, my man. I dunno what I'm drinking yet, can't get the bar tender to look my way! Heyo, lady!" Bobby waves his hands, but Scheherazade has stepped away to help someone or perhaps to grab her broom to give the Hall a good cleaning. "What've you got? Is it good?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Nerwen nods sadly That's what it is like. The veterans have been accepting tasks that are not heroic. They're divided, even amongst themselves as to what this organization should be, should do. Nerwen's face darkens, an obvious change now, But betrayal by a party member is the worst. There are enough challenges in the world without raising arms against one another. Nerwen's face brightens again as another hero chimes in, mentioning Dastan. You went to Dastan? You saw Rito? Tell me all that happened. I went there a long while ago, how're the Rito doing? Did you meet a Rito named Denerii? Quote

Did you meet a Rito named Denerii? Overhearing the conversation, I butt in. "I can't speak for the others, but when I was in Dastan, I met the Rito...two in particular: Flavius and I suppose the Denerii of whom you speak. We didn't stay long, but they did invite me to train with them if ever I wanted to. Can't bring myself to do it though. I don't think I'm cut out for the bow and arrow or even the javelin for that matter. Besides that was a couple years ago now. Still, they are an amazing people." Quote

We disagreed on more than a few things. Maybe we respect each other, I'm not sure. I was more worried about making sure Actaeon over here didn't pass out from fear every time we encountered some enemies." She lightly elbowed the ranger in the ribs. Quote

Erik turns around, placing his bottle of booze on a seat at a nearby table - hopefully out of sight of the monk."Since the mess at the Academy? I took a vacation and visited some of Uland. I mean, besides Eubric. I've seen plenty of the city on quests, and I went up to Ve'er once too, but there's still plenty I haven't seen. I've been considering training as a Battle-Mage or maybe a Raider, too. Healing's well and good, but I wouldn't mind being able to slay demons and monsters a bit more effectively." Quote
Actaeon Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Actaeon laughs at Kiray's snide remark. "Hey, I dealt the most damage and I took the most damage, what can I say?" Addressing the other two, "Yeah, we met the Rito. Got my trusty bow from them, actually." Quote

Shaking himself back to the present, Matthias notices that there is indeed a mug in front of him, about a quarter full of something unidentifiable. "Must be someone else's leftovers, Master Bobby; I couldn't advise you on the vintage. Where is Scheherazade? I could use a cider." "Are you new here?" he asks as they both continue to glance around the room in hopes of locating a drink. "I've been a member of Heroica for a year, though the better part of that time I was in Baltarok, so I haven't actually met many Heroes yet." Quote

I guess you could say I'm new - I've noel been on one adventure. But I'm not sure how much people adventure, you know? Like, how long is a hero a hero for before they get a different job. Shiz man, this is the sort of thing about the world I know nothing about, know what I'm saying? Like Baltarok, you know, I try to read the news and all that stuff, but what even is it? Like I know its the land of the Orcs and all that whiz but like what is it really, know what I'm saying? Must have been a trip offing going there for real. That's how you get to know how things really are, know what I mean. Like being there for real? Some a-holes tell me they know what's what just cause they read the paper and books, and Hel, I do that too of course, but it doesn't mean I actually know jack, know what I mean, and I'm always saying to my pals 'listen b*tch, just cause you read doesn't mean you know anything' and they're all pissed about it, but it is what it is. That's why you gotta go really adventuring, so you can know shiz like what's actually going down in Baltarok. I mean, that shiz effects us, know what I'm saying? Whole worlds all interconnected." StickFig Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Matthias struggles to keep up with Bucks' speech pattern, but years of barber chit-chat kick in and he continues the conversation. You fight against some people, fight alongside some people, fight against and then alongside some people... fight alongside and then against others...." Another dark shadow, gone as quickly as it appeared. "I did have a friend in Baltarok, big fellow called Baradok, but he left to find a different job. I think he was only a hero for a year, not sure what he's doing now. I think he was a musician in a past life. What'd you do before you showed up here?" Quote

Recent quests I've been on have shown me that sometimes playing a passive role in battles is just not worth the trouble. I've kept my party alive in more battles than I can think of, but of what use is it if the party compromises at the end of the day. No. There comes a time when one needs to be able to hold one's own and not just protect others. I've trained as an Artisan. It's been good thus far. Attacked a pirate's base and drove him out of our beloved isle. My quests before that were not as pleasant. You remember Wally, do you not?" Quote

"I'll be right back," Kiray said, getting out of her chair. She was gone for many minutes before returning back to the Hall and grabbing a drink. She sat back down with Actaeon before taking a sip of her drink. "Sorry, had to go to the market. Picked up a new shield. You remember that flameproof armor from our first quest? I moved that ruby to the fishy scale mail. Now I'm immune to fire and absorb water, all with one armor." She took another sip and thought for a moment. "Spirits, I sounded like a used wares seller just then." Quote

That play is straight crazy, yo. I dug it. But other than that just did some reading and errands for the folks, you know how it goes." He then comes back with a new quiver, "Probably temporary, but I think it will help enough to be worth it." Quote
