Taking advantage of the monk's brief absence, Erik grabs a mug from the table where the well-hatted gnome had been sitting earlier, and finishes it off.

Shaking himself back to the present, Matthias notices that there is indeed a mug in front of him, about a quarter full of something unidentifiable.

He then takes a seat on his chair (WP:4) and begins to go through his pockets. "S'pose I should sell this to someone who can actually sing it." he mutters to himself, finding the inspirational piece of music that had been written by Borris the bard.

Looking up from his reading, his gaze falls upon the the female elven minstrel he had somehow not noticed earlier, and he stands up and walks over, the song-sheet in his hand.

"Hey Pretzel! I'd like to take you up on your offer. I want to test out some of the stuff of that new guy, the bomb seller, and for some reason, even he's part of the guild, I don't think he recognizes Alchemist privileges. Here's a list, there's 50 gold in it for you."

2x Blind Bomb

2x Confuse Bomb

2x Poison Bomb

2x Seal Bomb

2x Sleep Bomb

4x Stun Bomb

"It should cost 315 gold, here's 365."

Turning the Hunter's Plate over in his hands, Matthias vaguely overhears Guts handing out gold like candy and wishes he was a rich man. "Yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum," he humms quietly.

"Yes... I have been well, thank you." Erik says, the elf lady's face coming back to him as she mentioned the Nôrn girl, but his memory failing to bring up the name attached to it.

"It's a song. A bard I met once wrote it and gave it to me, but I'm not very musical. Some Crimson Crown people attacked him. I'm not sure why. I and the party I was with and also a demon-hunter killed them. How have you been faring?" The teenaged male human says awkwardly, not at all used to talking with happy, unarmed and attractive women.

I return from the marketplace with Gut's bombs.

"Here you go," I say, handing the alchemist the bombs. "Decided to purchase a few while I was at it. I wonder just how effective they are."

Ambling back over to my seat, I see Erik conversing with an Elven minstrel. At first, I have the presence of mind to leave them alone, but then decide against it.

"What's going on here?" I query good-naturedly, still not recognizing Nerwen.

"I don't recall seeing you in the hall recently. Our hall could be livened up with some music," I say through whilst chuckling.

Munky! Gods smile upon you! I was just about to introduce these two young heroes. turning to Kiray and Erik she said

Kiray, this is Erik Tyvarr, he and I quested together quite a while ago to help a little girl.

Erik, this is Kiray Nastayo, we haven't quested togther. She was about to tell me how she became a knight here at Heroica.

Nerwen accepts the paper that Erik is holding out, reading through it she says,

This is fine work. It has rhythm and balance, it would be very inspiring. Can I buy this from you? Perhaps fifty gold? Do you know anyone selling an instrument?

So, how did you end up a knight here at Heroica?

"I came to Heroica a few years ago, from my small town. It's not exactly a happy story, I'll save you the sadder parts. The happier parts include a man who taught me how to fight, how to use a sword and shield. He was, is if he's still around, a good man. He knew a lot except he was very quiet. There were days he didn't even talk, just nodded or adjusted my form and such. The rest isn't a great story."

After raising an eyebrow briefly in Kiray's direction, I turn back to Nerwen.

"Thank you! He most certainly does. Though it seems His lights in this world are burning dim at present, he is still faithful. ...Have we met?"

"Sure. Deal. You can do it more justice than I could anyway." Erik hands the Hundred Heroes Hymn to Nerwen. "I have this flute, actually. I got it from some demon in a school." He says, producing the Nocturne Flute.

"Good day, Erik." Kiray stuck out a hand. "Who was the girl?"

"Good to meet you, Miss Kiray." Erik says, shaking the offered hand. "She was from the Hovels, and her friend had gotten mixed up with some cultists underneath the city." He continues, on more familiar ground with this armoured knight.

Actaeon also introduces himself with Kiray, "I'm Actaeon." Not knowing what else to say, he stays silent afterward.

"Good to meet you too, Mr Actaeon." Edited by Myrddyn

Thank you says Nerwen before raising the flute and playing a gentle, sleepy melody.

Nerwen hands Erik further 100 gold.

She then slides the silver instrument into her satchel which dislodges her magical staff, sending it clattering to the floor.

Matthias' head jerks up as the staff clatters across the room. He hops down from his chair, picks up the staff, and presents it back to the minstrel. "Lady Nerwen, allow me to say how lovely you look," he says, momentarily forgetting his inner dread of the unpredictable, violent elves.

Nerwen curtsied and said

Master Matthias, you do me honour. I do not think I said it on the trip home from Ve'er, but it was a pleasure standing beside you on our last quest. You were a true and faithful companion.

We have not quested together but we have spoken long of the gods here in this hall. That was whilst I was a shaman, I have moved along the path since then.

"Ah, yes! I remember now. You do like quite different now. Shamening does funny things to you, you know? I have since forsaken the way of the paladin for a while. The order, it seems, has become as corrupt as the rest of Eubric...well, perhaps not quite, but almost. It's a shame really! As an Artisan now though, it helps me manage my resources better. Furthermore, I am able to provide services for my fellow heroes. If, for instance, you have an purchases to make at the marketplace, I can give you a 15% discount on them all." I wink.

Just then, I see Nerwen's staff clatter to the ground.

"What a remarkable piece of craftsmanship. As a minstrel, I'll wager you won't be needing it anytime soon. How much do you want for it...assuming you're willing to sell?"

"Lady Nerwen, allow me to say how lovely you look," he says, momentarily forgetting his inner dread of the unpredictable, violent elves.

I allow myself a chuckle at the awkward mannerisms of the little one.

"I see you've grown a tail." Erik says to Mizuki.

"Heh, I got it from the Copper Fox as a present for Grogmas. Apparently, he used to be a con artist until someone took him to Heroica. Anyway, how have you been faring, these last few months ?"

"You spent a ton of gold on a dice? Well, I don't think luck is really anything more than what you think it is, but..." I shrug.

"Well technically it was a nigh impossible gambling game based on rolling dice.......I keep it in my collection with my new quiver."

Nerwn looks at the staff thoughtfully.

I would sell it but I'd like the amethyst. But you can have the gem removed cheaper than I can if you're good terms with the marketplace. So three hundred gold then and you remove the amethyst for me?

Posted

"Well, I've got an extra Amethyst in my cart even..." I mutter, handing Nerwen the gem.

"I'm not sure I'd normally pay so much for that staff, but..." I shrug, "...times have changed. Besides, God blesses generosity...or whatever."

Taking the staff, I hand Nerwen 300 gold...the latter, perhaps somewhat reluctantly.

"Yeah, I've been well. Haven't been on any quests recently, but I'm planning to get back into it soon. Thinking of training as a battle-mage. How have you been?"
