bionicle_fanatic Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) The rain smattered lightly onto Karl's dark, closely-cut hair as he sprinted nimbly though the backalleys of Eubric. His pursuers, two unlikely lads, were rapidly closing in from behind. Karl looked down at the measly loaf he'd snatched from the pair minutes ago. Was all this really worth it? An angry growl from his stomach banished his doubts: for a teenager who was practically living off the streets, sometimes stealing was the only way to survive. He burst out of the alley and into a larger street, aligned with shops lavishly flaunting their wares, as though they were taunting the boy with luxuries he could never hope to possess. A stitch seared through his side; he'd lead his pursuers on a lively chase around the city, but it was high time to cut it short. Taking advantage of his brief respite from enemy eyes, he heaved open the heavy oak door of the nearest building and bolted inside. He was in a large hall of sorts, filled with plenty of exotic and interesting characters; Karl thought he could even spot a troll. This was certainly not the most ideal establishment he could has picked. He had hoped it was a charity shop or something. He took a deep breath. "S-Sorry. Wrong place..." Desperately hoping no one would stop him and ask him why he looked like an urchin, he turned to the door to make a speedy exit. And then something stopped him. Something made him turn around, and look the occupants directly in the eye, as one of them, as an equal. Something made him walk slowly yet assuredly up to the ornate noticeboard standing at the far end of the room, and stare in silent awe at the glimmer of his future. That thing, was Fate. bionicle_fanatic Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Karl's sharp ears didn't need to be too sharp to pick up the words muttered by the pale-skinned man to the short gnome beside him. He didn't comment, but seemed to pull himself together. His eyes swept the room a second time, trying to find a quiet spot where he could think things out. And hopefully consume the loaf of bread. FOG Party(of the Grey Foxer): The Grey Foxer ~ Team Leader Kiray Nastayo ~ Master Knight Actaeon Artus ~ Master Rogue If you are seeking a dedicated FOG experience, and are approximately level 10 or higher, please consult the Munchkin rogue at the bar. Never one to miss an opportunity when he could help it, the rogue approached the barbarian in the stylish black and red dragon armor. "Please pardon my interruption, but I couldn't help but notice that you also had signed up for the Fields of Glory. I happen to be in the process of putting together a bit of a team for them, and I was wondering if you might be interested in joining?" Edited December 30, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote

You can sign up no matter what level you are. :) That note was just to join their particular team in the drawing, It often helps quests to have groups with individuals of similar strength, so the QMs can throw appropriate enemies at them.Siercon enters the Guild Hall cloaked in a velvet aura, which lined his black shrouded form. Clasped to his back he carried a large barbed looking spear, which was quite disproportionate to his average figure. Gliding to the quest board, he signed up for the fields of glory. Seeing Purpearl Berthadhiell, and Matthias both near his lvl, he approached them. "Would you two like to enter The Fields of Glory as a group?" he said, waiting for their reply. "Or if you prefer, perhaps we could merge with Grey Foxer, Actaeon, and Kiray, as party of 6. It would probably make things more interesting, and may increase our chances to be chosen, instead of vying with them over a party slot." Quote
StickFig Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Matthias watches the newcomer move to the quest board. "About that long," he remarks to Bruhalv. Wondering what the new hero saw on the quest board, he decides to take a look and moseys on over. "'The Grey Foxer'? Who calls themself that?" the gnome laughs a little. "And what's a 'Munchkin'? And are we signing up in groups now?" Looking around, he wonders what and is interrupted by a mage. "I'm up for anything." he says, and walks back to the bar. Quote

OOC: Ah... So, Karl could sign up right now, and just proceed to the battlefield? [:P] Or would he have to wait for a QM to approve him in or something? [:P] Karl jumped eagerly up once again as the shadowy figure tacked a notice to the board. A Chain Scythe... He jingled the meagre 10 pieces of gold he had left in his pocket, deciding to leave the deal and take food and shelter over fancy weapons. Not seeing any reason to stand about doing nothing, he decided to take the future into his own hands. Snatching up a quill to the side of the board, he scratched his name into the list detailing sign-ups for the Fields of Glory. He crossed his clips, hoped he wasn't making a big mistake. Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Looking at the new hero, Siercon suggest "You might want to consider purchasing a bedroll from the marketplace" Edited December 30, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote
bionicle_fanatic Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 One has to be chosen to go on a quest or participate in the fields of glory (essentially a type of quest). The QMs work hard to bless us all and create fun adventures. As you can imagine this can be tons of work, so the demand is higher than the supply. Thus, we all wait patiently and the QMs do a really good job of balancing characters from all levels and setting up a variety quests in due time. Long and short, patience and gratefulness is the game. It's like a rigged lottery, where they are truly trying to make it work out for everyone who shows mature commitment. They will announce who's in, and those individuals will proceed to that new thread. Btw Welcome! :D OOC: Got it [;)] And thanks [:P] Karl eyed the bar upstairs, wondering if he could somehow persuade the bartender to give him a free drink. After a short spell of indecision, he turned and trudged back to his table, ruefully reflecting on how nothing in this life ever came without a cost. Looking at the new hero, Siercon suggest "You might want to consider purchasing a bedroll from the marketplace" Adressed out of the blue by a cloaked and faintly glowing stranger, Karl flinched as though struck from behind. "Umm..." He cast a fretful glance about himself, checking the exits. "Why would I want to do that... sir?" He wasn't exactly sure if that was the proper was to address a fully armoured knight with a dangerous battlespear strapped across his back, but he hoped he was close enough not to cause offence. StickFig Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Back at the bar, Matthias orders a round of four pints of ale. He slides Bruhalv the first mug, then has to carry the others one at a time to Siercon and the latest newcomer before picking his own up. Quaffing a fair bit, he calls out on his way back to his seat, "Welcome to Heroica Hall, where the drinks are free." Quote

Quaffing a fair bit, he calls out on his way back to his seat, "Welcome to Heroica Hall, where the drinks are free." Hardly daring to believe what all his senses were telling him, Karl mutely smiled his thanks to the gnome, then dipped a finger into the ale and tested it on his tongue. You could never be too careful. It seemed to be fine, to he took a swig. The delicious warm liquid spread a feeling of happiness and contentment through the boy which he had never felt before. Even that mug of brandy he'd bartered off that stingy orc outside the Oracle's Shrine. Feeling much better after his food and drink, he gave the hall another once-over. Apart from the Gnome and the dark Mage, there was also a cloaked human, what looked like a half-demon, a very ancient woman with three eyes, a heavily-armored barbarian and the pale-faced man who had quipped about his wonderment earlier. Karl took another pull at the ale, musing over the crowd he'd fallen in with. Quote

He pulls out Blitze's Modified Remedy, and a Level-Up Mushroom. "Cheers." He grimly states as he chews on the mushroom and pours the remedy down his throat. He sits quietly for a couple seconds before falling onto the floor screaming. His eyes cloud over and his body tenses. .............. "Benjemoni Carvenhall, you have abandoned your father's cause, and abandoned the path of justice. Does not your conscience speak against the way you have been living? You are a hero, a man, no beast.
