Flipz Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 "One moment, it seems I have business to conduct." Tesni took out the scroll. "60 sounds fair, I have never been one for spells beyond those that make my weapons better." (If the exchange was still wanted) Tesni handed it over. She turned back to Arthur, he had certainly changed since their last encounter. "Fighting over a bridge and which of those gods was best and such. Very much a headache, no one will see that there is no black and white it seems." "Indeed. The way Dyric told it, it sounded a lot like Dastan--speaking of which, Tarn wanted me to pass on his well wishes. He left for Dastan with Ella, about a year ago now. I wonder what he would have thought of Lady Shanxian's rebellion?" She put the blade that had been leaning beside her closer to the leather strap that held it. "So you worked for Madam Shanxian? It pains me to have missed a chance to help her once more, she awarded me this blade for tasks already done but I would hav gladly wielded it in her service. What was the land like? I only ever visited a single tower!" "Beautiful...and ill. When we arrived at Ai Xurong, the City in the Clouds, I could tell why the Aoi's architects--like Lady Shanxian--are so revered. At the same time, the posturing, the classism, the authoritarian self-superiority of the Council of the Blue Hand and the Aoi in general...even as one unfamiliar with Xu's customs I knew better than to protest, but the things I saw there were not encouraging. Then a miracle happened--though not without cost. It turned out that Lady Shanxian and Monsignore Legonardo had organized a coup against the Council, and we were caught up in it. Innocent lives were lost along the way...but the end result, I think, will be a better future for Xu, one that better represents the needs of its people." Arthur chuckles a little as the Mage carries off his new Scroll. Not long ago--well, actually, yes, quite long ago now, where had the years gone?--he had similarly searched for such Scrolls. As Tesni closes her pack once more, Arthur notices a by now familiar tin inside. "Speaking of business," he says, already reaching for his own pack, "I just noticed you seem to have a jar of Bright Polish there. I've gotten rather attached to my cloak, so I've been trying to improve it as much as I can--my average going price for Bright polish is in the realm of 120 gold, or I'd be happy to trade you a Grating Stone and 70 Gold instead if you wish." Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 "Well, I have never sought to use this. My 'barbarian' constitution was always a boon and between you and me I am happier to feed the blades than the kit on my back. I think a grating stone and a little gold would be a good trade." Tesni pulled out the tin. "The Hand of Blue, I think I may have heard the phrase before and if what you say it seems I took a misstep in the act that earned this blade." Tesni patted the ornate sword. "The Protector of Justice he called himself and he had some plan to take down the council. Though as these things go it was possible he was an opposite to the goals of the Lady so my deeds even out in the end. It is all grey isn't it? Or violet you could say... Maybe it will do the man and his daughter honour in their afterlife or put to rest any roving spirit now that their cause is seen through." Quote
Flipz Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Arthur passes the Gold and Grating Stone to Tesni before applying the Polish to his Shadeaux Cloak. "Yes, those were Atramor's thoughts as well. Still, in the end it was Jun's report that convinced Lady Shanxian to move forward with the rebellion. For what it's worth, as I understand it the loss of life from Lady Shanxian's plan was much less than had Kai Tsi's rebellion succeeded. I suppose it's open to interpretation whether the lives that were lost were an acceptable cost." "Speaking of your blades...how does Dryw fare? Might it wish to meet its latest kin?" Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 "New kin for Dryw? I did not know there were playthings left." Tesni took the sword from the array behind her. "Dryw has become much more vocal, in a way. Cysgodion is not the chief anymore, the light co-rules with the dark." The diamond in the pommel gleamed even as the dark greatsword behind seemed to almost glower, if swords could. "I would like to wield my blades in battle again." Quote

Arthur glances up at Miirym, leaping lightly from rafter to rafter, seemingly unconcerned with the goings-on of the Heroes below. "I...think I'll be returning to the path of Ether soon, and this Scroll will be of great use to me then...besides, I used to be known as the Scroll Mage of Heroica. How would it look if I just started selling them off entirely?" Arthur grins, despite his internal irritation at the interruption. Edited January 6, 2015 by Flipz Quote

Flipz Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Arthur shakes his head amusedly. Ah, the old days. Turning back to Tesni, he continues their conversation. "Like I was saying, my Plaything came from Dastan, but I've...well...it's taken a unique form." Shifting next to Tesni to ensure he could not be observed, Arthur slowly wills a black, inky halberd to emerge from his arm...then withdraw, the arm then transforming into an inky tentacle. Finally, he shoots a short jet of ink out of his palm, which shifts and forms back into its original broomstick shape. "It's...well, it's me. I named myself Zoot's Rebel, and merged its power with my own." Arthur shifts uncomfortably, transforming the weaponized extension of himself back into the more currently useful halberd shape and allowing it to solidify, making it seem for all intents and purposes like an ordinary halberd. "I can't say it was my smartest choice--there are more than a few downsides to being a living weapon of eternal Chaos--but it's a choice I made, and one I have to live with. Just like Xu, I guess, or Wren. You'd think it'd get easier over time to accept one's choices, good or bad, but I still find myself getting caught up in all the 'maybes' and 'what ifs' from time to time. Then again, I suppose I do have eternity to learn to kick that particular habit." "Right, of course," said Warlen hastily. A smile slipped onto his face. "Scroll mage of heroica, eh? Watch out, amigo, because you've got a competitor." Warlen thumped his staff on the ground, and the shadows drew in on him, before he disappeared. "Dammn it..." came a cry from above. If a hero was to look up, they would see Warlen hanging from a chandelier. Miirym flutters backward at the sudden appearance of an elven Mage in her claimed dominion. She hisses, then speaks in the dragon tongue, even knowing that no mere Mage would possess the Animal Talk necessary to understand her speech. "<Foolish Mage! One would think that an elf would know better than to interfere in the affairs of Dragons, let alone the most noble Dragon of all!>" Ruffling her scales indignantly and flaring her nostrils to release a puff of smoke at the impertinent Mage, she whooshes past his pointy elven ear and glides down gracefully to Arthur's chair, her scaly snout facing pointedly away from both him and Warlen. "So, you've decided to join us, eh?" Miirym keeps her snout raised and her gaze fixed on a distant point in space unoccupied by anything noticeable to humanoidkind. Arthur tries again. "Miirym, this is Tesni, Tesni, Miirym." This time, the young Dragon turns and looks at Tesni, her pupils contracting as she contemplates the Berserker. At length, she sniffs, then nods in dismissive respect, the warrior woman apparently having been considered worth acknowledging. Arthur sighs. "I apologize. Sometimes I really don't know what to do with her. Any advice on raising a Dragon?" he chuckles. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Warlen chuckle at the small dragon, then replied: "I'm not an elf. Only half of me is. What do you think, is it my left half?" He moved to show the Dragon. "Or my Right half?" He began to move, but fell to the ground in a heap. "Nimztic quarkell..." As he got up, he nodded to the heroes that were watching him, and walked out of the hall. -------------------------------------------------- When he returned, he stood in the doorway and revealed his new look. The Chosen Minifigure Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Althior stood up from his long-maintained spot in the bar, making his way towards the questboard. Seeing a few new quests posted, he bolded his name under Quest #125 and signed up for Quest #124 as an afterthought. If there was something amiss in Ziegfried manor, perhaps it was a time he payed the family a visit, especially after the information he'd learned of Bluto's knowledge. He had promised the tower keeper to keep the boy safe, and he had intended to, no matter what. Warlen continued his pursuit of Scrolls by walking over to the Necromancer. "Hey. I was wondering if you would be interested in me purchasing that Scroll of antimagic? I currently have 165 gold. How does 125 now sound, and an extra 65 later?" Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Alexis enters the hall after her training session. She heads upstairs to the bar, gets a drink, then looks around to see who's there. There were new and old faces alike; Alexander went to the Quest board searching for new interesting quest. "Quest 124 seems interesting... it shouldn't be too long... and for a woman in distress..." smiled Alexander, he signed-up for Quest 124: The Song of My Hearth. Then he went to the bar in search of something to eat and drink. Quote

Alexis enters the hall after her training session. She heads upstairs to the bar, gets a drink, then looks around to see who's there. Spotting Tesni, she heads in her direction. "Hello Tesni, it's been a while. How are things going for you?" "Well met Alexis. At the moment I am looking for my next quest after my break from heroics. The Northern Kingdoms were tough and the constant battles since I arrived here had worn me down. How has life been here since I was gone? Arthur has been filling me in on the Jei Pi activity but I hear there has been more going on in the city." Quote
CMP Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Miderun found her way back into the hall after a long day of questing, stopping by the Quest board to scribble her name down under Quest #122 before finding a spot at the and immediately ordering an ale for herself. Her throat was parched as though she had been yelling non-stop all day. Which was not far from the truth. Eubric might've been a mess, yet still....heroes had been there for Baltarok. Much as she disliked the city itself, Heroica offered a purpose greater than any she could find in the homeland. That appealed to her, anyway. The orc found herself somehwat lost in thought as she sipped from her mug. Quote

I've become practiced at it over time, but that doesn't make it easy by any stretch." Arthur smiled ruefully at Tesni's observation of Miirym. "I suppose I should be thankful that she's not yet large enough to carry off livestock. Lord Knyghton would have thrown a fit if she'd carried away any of the Lion Knights' sheep or cattle!"
