Waterbrick Down Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Boris reads down the list of participants for quest 128 before shouldering his pack and following Naguz. "Won't we all make a sight for sore eyes." Quote
Zepher Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Boomingham staggers to his feet. "Forgive me, chaps. I'll be back shortly. I've just realized that I don't have the mead I'd need should I ship off again tomorrow. Got to set it right." He leaves the Hall, leaving his book out on the table for Hybros to thumb through. Quote
Enceladus Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Looknig at the questboard Na'im allows himself a small smile, looking pleased with himself for being included on quest 128. He makes a show of getting to his feet and dusting himself down but, as he dose so he hesitates and turns to Em. He could hardly call him a friend, but it seemed rude just to leave without saynig anything "Safe travels to you, my good Em" he says with a small tip of his hat "And I wish you luck in whatever heroic situatioins you may find yourself in" he finishes and shoulders his haversack, leaving the hall for the first time into the big wide world... samurai-turtle Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Muttering a quick farewell to Boris and Germ, he scuttled off, ready to act, for the first time as a "hero". You better check the list again it looks like we will be going with you. Then double checking the list. The only name I have know idea about is the Cleric "Naim Thamir". Ever one else I believe I talked to in the "hall" a little bit. Then he strikes his name off Quest 129 & Quest 130. Quote
Emjajoas Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 "Safe travels to you, my good Em" he says with a small tip of his hat "And I wish you luck in whatever heroic situatioins you may find yourself in" he finishes and shoulders his haversack, leaving the hall for the first time into the big wide world... "Keep the wind at your back," Em replies halfheartedly, drawing his gaze left once more. Quote

JimBee Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 "That seems to be the way of things. Whenever I finally do close that book I thought was going to be my final book I always find that a few more have been opened. I used to think the Orcish Wars, when they ended, you know - that'd be the end of my career fighting, and then I could govern my people. But Hel, I'm still fighting and don't see an end in sight, and I can't tell how much good its doing. But what else is there to do?" Boomingham chuckles. "Besides, it affords me some free booze. Have I shown you this?" Boomingham takes out his tome of affluence and flips to a random page. Most of the original text is crossed out and Boomingham's handwriting is scrawled all over the margins. "I'm working on a book." Hybros was about to ask the Orcish Wars and how Boomingham's people were doing, but he thought the book would maybe explain it. He examined the writing. "Heh! I did not take you for a writer, Boomingham." He noticed the names of several other heroes written down. "What is it abo-" Hybros looked up from the book, but Boomingham had already began stumbling away. "Hm, well I hope he comes back soon..." He read through the pages a little more, then closed the book and tucked it under his arm. He stopped at the bar to order more tea from Scheherazade. She shared with him the news on the Ji Pei family. "Heh, I did not know she would be traveling to Xu... I wish I was there to help. That must mean Jun is in charge in Eubric now... hm..." The imp turned to the right, where a tall muscular Nord was mulling something over with a drink. "Eric. It is good to see you, eheh. It has been some time, though I saw you at the Decamon tournament. It did not seem as though you lasted much longer than I did, heheheh." Quote
Zepher Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The book wasn't so much a story as a series of scattered thoughts. Flipping through Hybros found some of the original content of the book left unscathed: "Any fool can find gold. More important are the connections that one can build," memoirs: "Called by the voice of the Priest of Pseudos, I was chosen to rid the world of a horrid creature by the name Maggy. I was told to be more active in my role as a champion. Damn ghosts admonishing me... though perhaps he does have a point. Regardless, due to my actions the children of Strivvi are safer now, I hope," memos: "Buy mead," notes to other heroes: "Arthur, for all the Hel I give you, you're not the worst chap. You've got a good heart and a good head, if you could only get the two to work together and stop tripping over each other so damn often," and of course life philosophies: "Mortals are the sum of their actions. I'm less sure about Gods." Boomingham himself shambles back into the room and collapses back into his chair, giving everyone a winning smile and patting his stomach. "All good, now! Shall we keep the good times coming?" Quote

Comrade Commander Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Darkten strolls into the hall, looking more deadly than before. He is happy to see that despite the crowd, his usualy seat is unoccupied. He settles down there, alone and away from the rest of the group. OOC: Updated my stats. I am now an assassin (Level 15 1/2). Also noticed on the front page is shows my age as 20 when Darksten is 35. Just don't want to cause confusion when he talks down to all those young whippersnappers out there! haha Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 A large black suit of Armour, visor down, rattles once more into the Hall. It had been over 6 months since he had last been there. But today, he had heard there was a quest to Salamanda. The sisters of Danab were the one hope that the Tower of babel had yielded, now their elder was dead.... There was still hope Sarge Signs up for Quest #130. He finds a seat in the corner and rests his fee-foot on the table. Quote

Duels with real weapons are more like my kind of thing. How have you been, Hybros? It's been a long time." "Heh, I would have guessed as much. I am well, Eric, I found some answers that I sought, as well as my people. They have now returned to this land, so my task has been mostly complete. Yet, I remain here in Heroica. I have not died yet, and I am not sure when I will, but I believe there is still some good that I can do here. I have made some mistakes along the way, and a town on the north side of this island has paid for it, as well as a certain halfling assassin and others... But I believe it was worth it. Our time on this earth must end, but now is not that time for my people." Hybros scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed. He had not spoken to his friend in a long while, and didn't mean to delve into drama right away. "Ehehm, yes, so I have done much since we last spoke. How have you fared?" Quote

The Nord was still a long way from ever being re-united with his kin, if that was even possible anymore... He patted the little Imp on its back. "We all make mistakes. It's best not to dwel on them for too long. Life's too short to only contemplate the things we've done wrong." Hybros scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed. He had not spoken to his friend in a long while, and didn't mean to delve into drama right away. "Ehehm, yes, so I have done much since we last spoke. How have you fared?" The Nord's face cleared fast and his familiar smug grin returned. "I quit the business for some time. After I was part in the murder of Reno, I needed some time away from Heroica. I met a waitress named Mariel at the Merry Mermaid. Not the brightest of stars around, but she's nice. She let me stay at her place. I still sleep there whenever I'm in Eubric." Eric stared in his empty cup. "She used to be Reno's gall." He shrugged. "I look after her, I owe it to the man." The Nord ordered and new mead which he chugged at once. "Anyway, after that, I had to deal with some business at the graveyard here in Eubric. Some messed-up necromancer chick. I met the most annoying of Dwarfs on that Quest. By Torrik, I've known many Dwarfs in my life, but I have never known such as Throlar. Althior was an okay guy. A bit gloomy, perhaps, but alright..." "The three of us then ventured into the Babeleth Darklands, together with several other heroes. Not much to say about it, really. Shitty country, ugly people. Eventually the Quest got botched and the Tower destroyed. I picked up a lass there: Periwinkle. Cute girl, real pretty, but by the gods, that mouth. Seriously, I'd rather have my ears frozen off than having to listen to that girl all day long. We parted ways. I think she's still around somewhere in Eubric. Maybe the Hovels, who knows?" The Nord grinned as he took a sip from another fresh tankard of ale. "I got what I wanted. She got a fresh start here, which is what she wanted. Win-win, if you ask me." "I just finished delivering some magic items to the Paladin Order here in Eubric. Killed some people, got some loot. Regular job. The Dwarf I was talking about earlier, Throlar, he was on that Quest, too." Eric shook his head. "I'm glad to be able to talk to a sane person for once." Quote
Duvors Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Eric shook his head. "I'm glad to be able to talk to a sane person for once." Throlar was about to say something, but decided it would be cruel to let Eric know he was there. Quote

"Yes, you are right. We must continue to try to spread some good in this world, despite our errors, eheh... Reno Bonaparte, you say? I remember it well, our time at his grotto. That was years ago, and we agreed to let him go... was it a mistake? Please, tell me the details of his death. What drove you to spare him once and then kill him?" Quote

Duvors Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Feeling the weight of his pockets, the old man gets up sharply to go to the marketplace. He notices Throlar and tries to stay unseen. The black armor Sarge was wearing wasn't exactly helpful in his quest to remain unseen, but don't worry, the fact that Throlar got up to go to the marketplace at approximately the same time was pure coincidence. I think. Quote
Zepher Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Boomingham chuckles as Eric recounts his tale, and then claps his friend on the back. "Good to see you again, Eric. It seems I'll have to take lessons from you on how to win over the lady folk. Once upon a time I was quite the catch... but of course back then I was a prince and then a King, so, that helped an awful lot, I don't doubt." He laughs again. "And I've met the dwarf Tholar. Can't say much about him that you haven't already elegantly said. Nerwen, the boy mage, and I liberated a town with him, or, against his best efforts I guess would be more apt to say. He claimed to be an ambassador, but he's an even worse politician than I was!" Quote

Please, tell me the details of his death. What drove you to spare him once and then kill him?" "It wasn't a mistake. If it had been solely for me, he wouldn't have died. Like I said though, I was part of the group that killed him, but his blood isn't on my hands. I stood up for the man, his ideas... His death came at the hands of that old, bald guy, Guts, if I recall correctly. Could've been the Elf woman, too: Nerwen, I believe?." "Reno had taken the position of his brother, them being identical twins and all. Not even Nemo's wife had any clue of the scheme. We freed Nemo and confronted him with Reno. It turned bloody." "Now, Reno's dead and Nemo's fully at the helm of the Bonaparte family again. The ideas Reno had still live on, but I doubt they'll amount to more than just dreams now, with him gone. No one there to step up in his place." Boomingham chuckles as Eric recounts his tale, and then claps his friend on the back. "Good to see you again, Eric. "The boy mage, you mean that dandy Sorceror, Heckz?", Eric chuckled, "He's quite eccentric and somewhat daft at times, but he's alright by me, that one." "Concerning the lady folk, all I can say is: it helps having a heart of gold," he grinned wolfishly at his own joke and took another sip of his mead. "How have you fared lately? It's been a long time since I last saw you too." Quote
