Lind Whisperer Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 "They wouldn't have mutton here, would they?" says the former farmhand, sniffing to see if he could catch a whiff. "You'd have to ask Scheherazade about that - the orc matron behind the bar." Quote
Asphalt Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 There is a swoosh and a pop of displaced air. When the heroes turn in the direction of the noise they see that a new notice has replaced the Caliph's call for aid. It reads. I thank you all for your interest in my cause. It is true what they say about Heroica. There is never a shortage of those willing to come to the aid of one who is willing to ask. I have selected the Heros, Kelim the Cruel, Calamity, Rethinal, Terry Yelnats , and Muradin Falstad to represent you in this matter. My agent is awaiting your arrival at the stone pavilion behind the Inn of the Wayward Knife. Please meet him there before the mid-night bell chimes this very evening. I shall eagerly await your arrival. ~by the hand of the Scribe of Scribes ~By the Will of the Great Caliph, Benin Abal-Kasir I couldn't bring myself to leave anyone behind so I am taking everyone. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me. I will be posting the quest thread shortly. I hope all of you are as excited as I am to get my first quest underway. ~Asphalt Quote
Endgame Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 "You'd have to ask Scheherazade about that - the orc matron behind the bar." "Is she nice?-" The young lad takes notice of the ominous pop, and walks over, squinting his eyes to read the bright red text. "It looks like I walked in at the right time..." "Or perhaps a very bad one..." "Goodbye, and t-thanks for the orientation, I guess..." With a gulp, Terry left the relatively safe, albeit daunting, walls of the Hall and into Eubric, hoping desperately he wouldn't get lost like he did on his way to the Hall. Quote
Mencot Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) "No, not really. I really liked tending the farm. I wanted ta stay there... But the family says a boy that knows magic like myself should go out and see what the world has. And by that, they said it was Heroica or bust. "We welcome thou to our ranks then lad" "Pirates and the Bonapartes? Is that what you were originally going to ask me? The most I know is that they're deadly enemies." "How did I become an ambassador? Hmm... well I am a member of the Wineghilm clan, i.e., one of the seven ruling clans of Titaan. This makes me, among other things, a nobleman, utterly meaningless title and everything. It also makes me someone who has to have an important position of some kind. Now the Wineghilms are traditionally diplomats and when I was in the Academy my favored topics were such things as anthropology, cultural studies, things like that. All they could say was that at the time it seemed like a good idea." "A nobleman thou say but from the diplomat positon I almost guess'd that and thou hast studi'd at a Academy, very intresting. It seems we hast moo in common that what catches the eye then..." Keliim is halted by an strange noice, he looks at the board and sees a new notice. There is a swoosh and a pop of displaced air. When the heroes turn in the direction of the noise they see that a new notice has replaced the Caliph's call for aid. It reads. "Excuse me Ambassador" Keliim walks over to the questboard and reads the notice and sees that he has been choosen for the quest. "Finally some action" he thinks to himself. He walks back over to Throlar and says: "It seems that I have been choosen for this new quest, until later Ambassador!" Keliim bows his head, drinks his mug of mead and then he grabs his dwarven battleaxe and heads to the marketplace. Edited May 2, 2015 by Mencot Quote
Endgame Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Another boy, mch younger, walks into the hall. However, he is at least twice as confident as the previous visitor - perhaps because he was the one doing the hiring, and not the heroing. Current Sign-Ups for Quest #134: The Sky is Falling -Lind Whisperer (Lind Whisperer) "One... I guess that's a good start, but I don't think one will be enough to check out that meteor. But hey, better than nothing!" With a distinctly childlike optimism, the young boy walks out, having checked his quest posting. Quote

Duvors Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 "I think it's more than "seems", I think it is a good idea. A lot of the discord between the various populaces and ruling classes of Olegia comes from the fact that there's no way for the rulers to experience the troubles and issues that take place beyond the gates of their chambers and palaces, and there's no way for the populaces to inform them, other than by proxy messengers, who are always going to be biased one way or the other. Having a Hero that's also a member of a ruling class creates an excellent way to start recognizing those troubles and issues, at least in regards to Titaan. Maybe the idea'll spread to other realms as well." "Well, is a good idea... unless you take me into account. I am, quite frankly one of the most antisocial, undiplomatic little jerks in the world, my entire diplomatic career is a long string of utter failures that stretches from Xu to Vartland, it's a miracle that I'm still an ambassador! I joined Heroica by accident by all the fire of heaven and hell!"He was becoming agitated as he spoke, his face starting to contort into that oni-like state it assumed during his fits of anger. Quote
Asphalt Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Vindsval returns to the hall from his journey into the desert. Though, those of you who have met the Hal-Giant in the past will notice a change in his appearance. He inhales deeply, drinking in the smells of food, drink, cool air, and civilization. "It is good to be back. A path which returns one to familiar sights is always a welcome one." He moves to the bar, where a lat cask of cool liquid is already waiting for him. It would seem there isn't much call for glasses of that size so there is always one available. On the way to his table he hears the child chattering about needing heroes to check out a Sky Stone. Instead of sitting down he goes to the quest board and reads it over. "A warrior does not only fight for gold. I will help this youngling." Asphalt Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Vindsval lifts his tankard, this time a strange greenish brew tasting of pine and jasmine, taking a deep draft. "interesting madam, you never cease to intrigue your patrons with your variety of libations." He sits back and rests on his customary barrel. It would seem that many heroes have been called to their duties. I do not know if I have ever seen the hall so empty. Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 "I'm heading to the Ji-Pei soon anyway. Let me take the stuff and I'll see what I can do. The Black Knight frowned. He was not very well acquainted with the half-elf. But, he was one of the few other Heroes that the Knight had become acquainted with during these few months that he hadn't quarreled with. And he did have to head homeward as quickly as possible...The Black Knight slowly slid the shining Anniversary Medal off from around his neck. He paused a moment, and looked into the gleaming gold, at the bright shining A. Had it really been less than a year since he won it? He slowly handed the Medal and the Plasma Shield to the half-elf, watching the Medal swing around on its bright purple ribbon. "Wear them well." He didn't say anything more than that. He just simply walked across the floor to the door, and stepped out into the cold night air. With the door shut behind him, he turned for a moment, to look up at the Hall. It loomed upwards magnificently against the night sky, the cold silver stars contrasting with the warm glow from the windows. Had someone been watching, they might have almost thought that those sparkles in the corners of his eyes were tears. But whatever they were or weren't, he quickly jerked his hood up over his head and strode away through the winding streets of Eubric, towards the long winding roads beyond the town, and towards a tightly-treed forest beyond.
