The Chosen Minifigure Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Certainly, a simple truth freely given to a fellow traveller. "Mmm. Well, until then I'd never given much thought to religion, or even the gods, to be honest. I think that you opened up my mind just that bit more, allowed me to see them fur what they were. Thank you for that." Quote
Asphalt Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Quite honestly flabbergasted that a living being could live life without contemplating the gods, let alone without believing in their power and influence, Vindsval smiles at the small man. An opened mind can better see the Path. I am pleased that I could bring you to it Warlen. Walk it wisely. Quote
Flipz Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 While Vindsval contemplates pies and the meaning of life, Arthur continues his journey home to Number 14 Heron Street. Miirym, having taken to the skies once more, swoops down alongside him. "<Arthur...>" she asks uncertainly, "<Why did you stop being a Hero?>" Arthur pauses, then sighs. "Because if I had remained a Hero, I would not be able to take care of you...or Noel, or my cousins, for that matter. A Hero has to put aside personal matters, or at least keep them close to the Hall, and put their energy and focus into changing the world around them. Sometimes they stay in Eubric, but more often than not a Hero's concerns will take them all around the world, moving from one source of danger to the next. That's no place to raise--" Arthur stops himself suddenly. "Er--let me rephrase that. Do you remember how upset you were with me after we returned from Xu? When I took the mission to Ziegfried Manor?" "<Of course. A Dragon forgives, but does not forget.>" Arthur chuckles. That sounds like something Mom would say. "Answer me honestly, then. Did you feel like I was giving you enough attention? Or was I just going off and gallivanting around with my old war buddies while just leaving you to your own devices?" Miirym lands, her posture uncomfortable. "<I...was being selfish,>" she says, seeming sincere but conflicted over her words. Arthur nods. "Perhaps. But so was I. I selfishly put my own wants and adventures--and, admittedly, the needs of the rest of the world--ahead of my dedication to what's most important: my family. You are the most important person in my life, Miirym. I'm not going to make the mistake of neglecting you again." The female dragon appears lost in thought as she walks forward. She looks up, spotting two figures headed toward them and the Hall on the streets ahead. "<I recognize them,>" she says simply. Arthur smiles. "I do, too," he says, increasing his pace to meet them. "Althior! Lady Purpearl! I was just heading home. Back from another successful Quest, I suppose?" the Dragoon asks, looking at each of them in turn. Quote
K-Nut Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 As Althior makes his way from the marketplace, he's tracked down by Regulus in the streets. He nods his head to the Dragoon, "Your dragon came back I see," he chuckles as Finnegan shifts uncomfortably behind him. "It's the chicken all over again..." "Pay him no mind. We just returned from the fields. Figured there wasn't enough going on in the hall to stick around so we passed the time. What about you? I haven't seen you since the manor. Still messing with the weather?" he smirks. Quote

Pulling a grin, "This has been tried in the most arduous conditions in the Fields and I can guarantee its quality, even though it is not as strong as we would like to be. If you would inspect its quality, you will probably notice that I have certainly come far in putting my overflowing magical powers to good use, but still, I’d love to see how it would fare against the wandering monster. Such a pity." Purpearl shakes her head, "Anyway, lift it off my hands as and when you desire, for I cannot predict the next time we’d meet under such circumstances, even as an elf.” Purpearl grabs her gold pouch and counts out 200 gold, “And here’s some for the Crescent Shield.” Quote

Mostly it's been helping my mother out around the house, or else keeping an eye on my cousins, what with Nanny Mag Phee still recovering from getting trapped in Lilly's imagination." Arthur graciously accepts the shield. "I do remember this shield, and our deal. You've certainly earned my old one," he says, swapping Purpearl his Arm Shield in trade for his Blue Hand counterpart. "And you know, since you'd make better use of the Crescent Shield than me anyway, I'm more than happy to sell it to you," he confirms, accepting the Gold as well. Miirym doesn't speak to Purpearl, but nods respectfully, about the best reaction that could be expected given her recently-soured mood. "<Is that the shield we gained from the battle in Xu?>" she asks of Arthur. The Dragoon nods. "It is indeed." "<Good. I am pleased to see you bearing a suitable symbol of our conquests.>" Arthur chuckles. "It's not like that Arm Shield wasn't a similar symbol. I may have bought it at the Marketplace, but I had my friends among the Lion Knights emblazon it with their crest when I became a Skirmisher. I don't know if I ever told you the full story? Maybe when we get home, I don't want to worry Mom and Noel." "<That seems prudent, yes. If you approve, I shall fly ahead to tell them you shall soon arrive.>" Arthur nods. "Go." At his word, Miirym unfurls her wings and flies forth into the darkening sky. "It was wonderful to see both of you again. Perhaps one day our paths will cross again, particularly should you find yourselves in the Ziegfrieds' employ." Arthur shakes first Purpearl's and then Althior's hands in turn, slipping a note into the latter's hand as he does. "My current address," he murmurs near-silently into the Necromancer's ear. "You've been a good friend to me and my family, I don't think Mother would mind you having our address." Arthur takes a step back and prepares to move on. "Farewell, Heroes," he says. "I wish you good luck in all your future endeavors. Be well." Quote

Kintobor Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) It'd been two weeks since Karie had been seen around the hall. Before departing, she ensures Masson is okay by himself before hugging him and telling him she'll be okay. She looks back at her house taking it all in before hearing a familiar whine. 'Mreooo-eeew. <Take me with you. I'm bored, and the human you court isn't as snuggly as you are.>" "Hershey, stay there and look after the house, okay? Good kitty." Karie scratches Hershey beneath the ears before making her way to the hall. --- Returning once again, Karie notices a rather empty hall. It had seemed quiet on all fronts. She also lost her round stomach, and it was clear there were rims under her eyes. "Anyone seen Arthur? I've got his stuff." She yells to no one in particular. "That and Darksten. I got business with him." While waiting for a response, Karie signs up for Quest 138, adding her status as a "True Hero". Edited June 28, 2015 by Kintobor Quote
