StickFig Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 The gnome in the corner shakes himself out of the stare and starts emptying his bag onto the table, wondering what it would take to get ahold of a cannon like the strange man's. Placing each item in the growing pile, he realizes how little extra he has, except for a whip which he leaves out on top, wondering if anyone might want to buy it. Quote
Asphalt Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 "I have many weaknesses, but intoxication is not among them." He says, with perfect clarity, before downing another drink. I try to sample something new each time I am here, perhaps I should give your concoction a try. Would it come in a larger glass by any chance? The gnome in the corner shakes himself out of the stare and starts emptying his bag onto the table, wondering what it would take to get ahold of a cannon like the strange man's. Placing each item in the growing pile, he realizes how little extra he has, except for a whip which he leaves out on top, wondering if anyone might want to buy it. Something about the Whip draws Vindsval's attention. He points to it on the table. If the price is right I would take that off your hands my magnificently bearded friend. Would you accept 55 gold for it? Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 The man shrugs, requests a bigger glasss, and slides it over to Vindsval. "A warning. I did not devise this drink with the intention of making it taste good." Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 The man shrugs, requests a bigger glasss, and slides it over to Vindsval. "A warning. I did not devise this drink with the intention of making it taste good." Saludt Vindsval catches the glass, does his best not to shatter it, and tosses it back. It tastes of ash and flame, cured in a pit of in a farmers field. An acquired taste I am sure. But not entirely unpleasant. You were looking at the Quest Board earlier. What is your business with it friend? Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "I was contacted by the Moone Elf King. I believe his name is Faust. It appears I will be going dragon slaying with Heroes of Heroica - for whatever reason, he felt like he needed more reinforcements. from my understanding, the first group he drafted to fell Vorpalis are currently dead." Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 It would not be the first band of heroes sent to confront a dragon who met an ill end. Though it is unusual in my experience to see the envoy of an employer spending time within the hall. The king was here earlier, I fear that there were those of us who made a less than ideal impression. I don't believe you offered your name. I am called Vindsval. Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "Not from around here, mind you. No. Mercenaries pulled off the street of Moone. I am much the same, though I happen to be a bit harder to access. If you are wondering why I am spending time here, it is because the nearest bar is a five minute walk away. Sandman will do for now." Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Some would call that lazy, while others would simply call it efficient. I shall reserve judgment until I know more of the man behind the mask. Tell me, what do you know of this Kingdom of Moone and its Elven King? Quote
Kintobor Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Karie taps her foot, wondering where Darksten is. Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "I'm afraid there is not much to know of what lurks behind the mask. Perhaps unmasking wouldn't be a bad idea. It's making drinking a pain." Vindsval realizes that Sandman had amassed two more glasses since he had began talking to him. "I've lived in Moone for about four months. I know the lay of the land well enough, as well as some contacts in it. The main attractions are Mermont, the capital city, the various cathedrals devoted to Ennoc, and Faust's castle. I know at the very least that Vorpalis is currently controlling Mermont and the palace. As for the fog covering the kingdom... You don't want to be outsdide when it's being laid down. You will choke, collapse, and likely be mugged by bandits and marauders. Very unpleasant. Faust is a moon elf, a nearly extinct breed." Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 A Moon Elf, I thought them but a legend. It is good to know the race still walks this plane. Does he yet control the city, or has this dragon taken over completely? As for the choking fog, I recently helped to vanquish a beast whose voice was death. Perhaps this is no fog, but the breath weapon of the Vorpalis. If your mask causes you that much trouble simply remove it. You have seen the faces around this place, there is little that has not been seen. Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Sandman removes his helmet. "Like I said. Not much to hide." There is a profound emptiness in the man. His face is contorted into a focused look, but his expression, posture, demeanor, voice... They didn't convey a hint of emotion. He wasn't even drunk... "My wording was unclear. Mermont is the city. And Vorpalis is in control." Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 There you are my friend, much easier to drink without the mask in your way. Vindsval signals Sheharizad for another round of Flaming Moon Balls or whatever it is the Sandman calls them. Are there any rumors of what brought the wrath of the dragon upon the city? Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "There are many. All are ridiculous. Faust knows, but he would not tell me." Quote
Purpearljellyblob Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 As the conversation moves up to within earshot, Purpearl keeps her polishing cloth and moves towards the Quest Board, pinning a notice, Mystic Knight in search of Halberd or Lance to bolster her attack options. Interested sellers please find Purpearl Berthadhiell, Carnival Crusader, Elven Mystic Knight or send a Z-Mail. With that, Purpearl finds a quieter spot and continues to clean her weapons. Quote
Asphalt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "There are many. All are ridiculous. Faust knows, but he would not tell me." That does seem to be the way. But in my travels the common people often either know exactly what is going on, or what is going on is exactly the opposite of what the common people think. Quote
Kintobor Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Karie also pins a notice to the board. FOR SALE: Skull Shield: SP: 6, Immune to dark elemental damage, suitable for black knights. RARE ITEM! If interested, speak to Karie. Will not take anything less than 150 Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 That does seem to be the way. But in my travels the common people often either know exactly what is going on, or what is going on is exactly the opposite of what the common people think. "That would hold true, if not for the fog. It drives people mad. I highly doubt it's because of the fog itself, but people's fear." Sandman notices Karie as she pins something up on the questboard. "I'm under the assumption you are Karie. Chances are likely we are going to have to fell Vorpalis together." Quote
Kintobor Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Karie notices she's being talked to and looks at the man in question, raising an eyebrow. Why are there so many uncanny lookalikes in my life... "That would be me. Is there something I can help you with?" She asks as politely as she can, feeling awkward around her hubby lookalike. Quote
Endgame Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 "Vorpalis is not a creature I'd like to fight without... back-up. I'm merely trying to see those who I may be setting off with. ...You're looking at me oddly. Tell me why that is." Once again, Sandman seemed to have a tendency of phrasing his questions as commands. Still though, there was no malice, anger, concern, anything... Nothing at all, really. Quote
K-Nut Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Althior makes his way down the streets of Eubric. He alternates between walking forward and looking down to the slip of paper Regulus slipped him. After a while of trekking the winding streets, he finally arrives at his destination. He knocks on the door. "Come on Regulus! I've got places to be!" Quote

Still though, there was no malice, anger, concern, anything... Nothing at all, really. "Well, he's a dragon, right? No duh. I've done some stupid stuff, but even I'm not naive enough to fight a dragon on my own." Karie shrugs. "Ah, you know, I just feel like I've seen you before somewhere. Probably just my eyes playing tricks on me." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Calamity enters the hall, after returning to Eubric through the portal. "Right. Let's see what we've got. Ooh, I like that one, and that one." Calamity decides to sign up for Quest 137. Edited July 1, 2015 by Scubacarrot Quote
