Asphalt Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Karie looks around before continuing. "The Regret was one of Olegaia's greatest terrors. His life was filled with causing death and misery in others. His Oculoid spawn were some of the most detestable creatures on the planet, and wherever he went, suffering and tragedy followed. He's not the kind of person you talk about lightly. In the end, he powered himself up and ripped whatever shred of humanity apart in a two way bid to either take over the planet, or finally end his miserable existence. Needless to say, he's dead and gone, and I was there to see it done. That whole debacle had to be seen through... but it changed me. It changed everyone who went on it." Karie looked down, taking a drink. She looked exhausted just talking about the ordeal. She notices the new girl observing her and Vind. "What's her problem? You know her?" Seems that it was quite the beast. Far beyond anything I have yet had the opportunity to face. Vindsval looks at the new girl. No, I have never seen her before. Though, as you might guess, I am used to drawing attention. Shall we confront her, or allow her to observe us from afar? Quote
JimBee Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 "Yes, I wear the hood so not everyone is stunned by my undying beauty." I quip. "As for current matters... The questboard currently has three quests up, I believe. One to rout out a necromancer from a necropolis - that's my personal pick, but I'm going to go on a limb and say it's not your style. The other one to travel around the world with an aristocrat - culturally stimulating, but ship travel is a chore for me. And finally, one regarding a dragon that needs killing in Moone. From what I heard, the bastard already razed half of the country. Exiled the king of Moone from his own country, too." Jinnipher gasped at the mention of the last quest. "Moone? ...My home. Why I have I not heard..." She looked worried for a while, but changed her expression to a look of determination. "Sign me up. What's left of my people must be saved. And I have not seen home in many years..." "Exiled being a more respectable term than 'fleeing in terror'." Skrall chuckled while taking a drink from his tankard. "Touche." I chuckle. "Maybe he was being pragmatic, maybe he is being a coward. Who knows - nobody here has laid eyes on Vorpalis yet. I don't suppose you're intending to go out and slay the beast, are you, Skrall?" She whipped around towards the newcomer and shouted: "Shut up! Faust is no coward. You know nothing, ogre. Maybe your people never had to deal with their country being burned to the ground. Or sunk below the ocean." Her eye was twitching and her face red. She took a few deep breaths to calm down a little, but still kept her angry glare fixed on the ogre. "I've got my name on the list, I've had my fair share of dealings with dragons as well as taking down larger beasts. Perhaps it won't even need slayin', I don't suppose anyone's tried asking it nicely to leave." "Weren't you listening!? This dragon burned down half of the country. It doesn't seem to be in a diplomatic mood. Besides, they probably have tried getting it to leave. My pe--the Moon Elves are pacifistic." She looked to the side and muttered to herself. "If only they could fight for themselves, then they wouldn't have to rely on these ignorant fools to save them." This time her voice didn't hold malice, but sadness. Quote
Kintobor Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 "Now that sounds exciting." Calamity interjects. "Who do you reckon summoned this creature to this world?" Karie does not respond to Calamity, but glares at her. She'd had just about enough of Calamity's vile nonsense. Seems that it was quite the beast. Far beyond anything I have yet had the opportunity to face. Vindsval looks at the new girl. No, I have never seen her before. Though, as you might guess, I am used to drawing attention. Shall we confront her, or allow her to observe us from afar? "He was. I pray you don't have to face something like that. No one should." She looks at Calamity as she says this. "As for her, I say we let her observe us-" Just then the moon elf seems to go ballistic in front of two others. "Well, at least she's not our problem." Quote

Another mercenary Faust hired was in here today. He said the first group of hired swords that attempted to kill it, well, died. Stay sharp out there." Quote
Flipz Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 "More like Babeleth, I'm afraid I don't have the connections to tour the world. Trouble is stirring in the undead city of Fellcrest with an old foe of mine, so I think it's about time for a return trip," "Guffington? Everyone has heard of Guffington. But alas, all I have done is heard of him. His trek is going to Xu, Dastan, Baltarok, and Duplovia; none of which I have been to. If you were still heroing, Regulus, I'd say this is the perfect job for you," "Ah, old foes. That I know well. Well, best of luck to you, Althior. I hope your trip is...everything you're hoping for, I guess. Take care of yourself, my friend." Quote

She then makes her way back to Vind. "I don't know if I'll see you for awhile, but take care, Vind, it was a pleasure speaking to you." Karie then makes her way out of the hall and begins walking in the direction Althior told her. After some time, Karie makes it to address, she knocks on the door and waits, tapping her foot on the pavement, looking around the building. Edited July 2, 2015 by Kintobor Quote
Endgame Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 "Thank you, Althior. My guess is we'll both be going to Fellcreste, so, see you soon." I set out for the address written, along with Karie. I stand back as she knocks. "I wonder if the Ziegfrieds even remember me..." Quote
K-Nut Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Technically, I think he's at 421 Heron Street or something. "I was coming back here anyways," he states. "I'm not fully dependent on magic, thank you very much. I'll see you around," He looks towards Calamity after Karie leaves, then makes his way towards her. "Calamity, right?" he sits down "That pesky witch over there told me to talk some sense into you. Honestly, I don't think you need it. What have you been up to?" Quote
Flipz Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 As soon as Althior had gone, Arthur shoots a look to Miirym. "You want to go." "I wish to go." Arthur sighs. "We're not Heroes anymore. We don't...do this." "You wished me to see the world, did you not? It would be an opportunity." Arthur hesitates. "I...did promise that. I didn't think 'soon' would be 'in a few days', though. Still...Xu...Dastan...Dyric's from Duplovia...and the near-war in Baltarok..." Arthur's will resolves. "All right, Miirym...fetch me a quill. I need to write a letter." Dear Mr. Guffington, It has come to my attention that you are mounting a worldwide expedition and seeking the aid of Heroica. While I am no longer a member of that organization, I was most favorably impressed by my brief encounter with your associate Doc Daneeka during my time as a Hero, and so my Dragon Miirym and I would like to offer our services to you on your expedition. My record of service with Heroica should speak for itself; I have personal contacts and experience in both Dastan, where I helped rescue Princess Ella and helped lead an army in defense of Drakencourt, as well as Xu, where Miirym and I were among the party of Heroes directly responsible for the recent shift in power in that country. I also have a fair amount of seafaring experience, as Doc Daneka should be able to tell you. If you wish to engage our services, please respond by return Z-Mail, or by letter marked to Number 14 Heron Street. Regardless of your decision, I hope that we may expand our acquaintance in the future. Yours, Arthur Ziegfried & Miirym "I've got Z-mail," the ex-Mage says, and with that, Arthur had signed up for Quest #139. "You couldn't of send me a Z-Mail?" Karie replies. She taps Althior on the shoulder and points to Calamity. "See if you can talk some sense into her." Karie states. She then makes her way back to Vind. Not long after finishing his letter, Arthur hears a knock at the door. "That was quick," he murmurs to Miirym, before going to answer it. "Karie! Sorrow! Good to see you both here. I take it Althior passed on my message, then? Please, come in, come in." Quote
Endgame Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I get ushered into the Ziegfreid residence, smiling under my veil and nodding. "It's been too long, Arthur. Yes, Althior handed us the address as soon as he got back. I take it you've found a life you're satisfied with? I hope the amount of guests you've been recieving today hasn't disrupted things..." "Not at all. Noel's out at the moment, and Mom is over at Aunt Merryweather's, so I've got the place to myself today. It's no Ziegfried Manor, but I don't think even I could survive long in that place. Morgan alone would leave me batty--literally!--within just the first week." Arthur chuckles as he leads his friends to the dining room, the best room in the house for hosting company. "My cousins are good kids, though, just a little hard to manage. I'm just glad I've been able to help Nanny Mag Phee out with 'em from time to time. Bluto's been helpful, too, lately." Arthur disappears into the kitchen for a moment, then emerges with a teapot and three cups. He points a stern, warning finger at the former before setting out the latter for him and his guests. "So, I hear Althior's heading to Fellcrest in a few days. The two of you have anything planned? Oh, and before I forget..." Arthur looks to Karie. "How's Masson and the baby? He handling everything okay?" Quote
Endgame Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 "Arthur, is that teapot... sentient?" I say, taking my cup. "Thank you for the tea regardless. I'm going out to Fellcrest tomorrow, if I'm not mistaken. Imagine it, a Necropolis. I can't honestly say I've met more than a few people of my "kin", so this will be interesting." Quote
Kintobor Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Karie nods at the teacup, but looks a little dissatisfied at the tea. She'd of preferred some form of liquor, but tea it was. "Oh, and before I forget..." Arthur looks to Karie. "How's Masson and the baby? He handling everything okay?" Karie looks to Arthur. "Oh, good, good. Masson's handling Rachelle just fine." Karie deeply considers bringing up Lawrence and what he did to her husband, something she'd wanted to do for what felt like forever, but instead merely stirred her tea. Quote

Arthur checks around to make sure Miirym isn't listening, but it appears the golden dragon has found something to occupy her somewhere else. "I know it's different with Dragons, but between you and me, 'parenting' can be a little hard to grasp, you know? Like, on the one hand, it's an incredible joy to watch your little one learn and grow, but on the other hand, there's always this gnawing fear you could be doing better. Still, I'm lucky Miirym hatched pretty much armed and ready for basic survival--you and Masson must have your hands full with a human child. Not that Miirym herself isn't a handful at times--she's gotten extraordinarily good at wrapping me around her little finger." Arthur looks affectionately upstairs, towards the last place he'd seen Miirym, blissfully unaware he'd said anything wrong. Quote
