"Well, 'gainst spiders, maybe. But anything else? Like a human? Nah... I thought heroing was all loot, swashbuckling and romance, and I don't think I've encountered much of the second and third."

"I wouldn't know. I mean, do you even know? I mean, you've only been on one quest..." she turns to the minstrel. "What about you Miss? You look like you've done your fair bit of swashbuckling, haven't you?"

"Not really. Six months ago my speciality was washin' pigs."

Kheyli lightly pats him on the shoulder. "See? And look how far you've come!" she grins.

"That's... One way to put I 'spose..."

Lind shrugged. "Hey, one day I was farming a bed of mushrooms - and if you worked on a farm, you know what that means - and the next, I was off to guard the finest in Akrone wine."

The black knight lovingly patted his armor. "Only one year later, and this is me. Give it a year or so yourself, and you'll be fast on your track to...whatever it is you focus on."

Karie quietly makes her way into the hall and up the stairs, two guitars and a trumpet strapped to her. Her once long flowing ponytail was replaced by a shorter cut which didn't even go down her shoulders. She made her way to her corner and sat down. Karie brushed her new suit off and began to set some of her things aside, inculding For Sale tags on the Skull Shield (SP:6; immunity to dark-elemental damage; suitable to Black Knights only; shield.), and Grumpy's Staff (WP: 10, staff). Grabbing her guitar, she begins to play a small tune as she waited for potential customers.

Jinnipher sits next to Karie. "Long time no see. Nice hair. How much for the shield?"

Lind raised his eyebrows at the Moone Elf. "You're thinking of being a Black Knight? I pinned you down as more of the Paladin type..."

OoC: ...suitable to Black Knights only; shield.

Jinnipher narrowed her eyes. "Oh, it's you. I don't plan that far ahead. Maybe I'll use it, maybe I won't."

Lind shrugged non-confrontationally. "That policy is going to lose you a lot of gold if you stick to it..."

Terry shakes Line's hand in a bit of a daze. Things were lively around here.

"You two know each other?"

Lind picked up a pitcher of water from the bar. "Bit each other's heads off for a full quest."

"I've stuck to it longer than you've been alive. I think I'll be just fine."

"I can see why you two didn't get along," she smirks. "What were you two off doing anyways?"

"It's your bankruptcy proceeding."

"Killing a Prior Dragon. Well, actually, a dragon that was so old and powerful they're thinking about a new classification for it. I'm trying to get a vote behind Prior..."

Lind nodded to Terry. "Pleasure to meet you, but I think I'm going to start in on this water before it goes bad." He cheerfully walked back down the stairs, which he had apparently come up - am I the only one that keeps forgetting that the Hall is really built on two levels, not one? and slipped back into his seat at the table.

Karie notices Jinn sit next to her and raises an eyebrow. "Long time? Pfft, what rock have you been living under?

The shield? I'll give it to you for 120. I think that's fair enough."

"I can see why you two didn't get along," she smirks. "What were you two off doing anyways?"

"Well, some of us were killing a dragon. Others would rather get civilians killed in the process." She shot Lind a glare. "A fairy, huh? Not the one in Heroica, but it's not something you see every day. Zelphie was a skilled Artisan, and survived the purge to boot." Jinnipher realized that none of the heroes present were around before a few years ago. "Anyways, I hope you're as fit for battle as she was. Or, more competent than the last party I was in at least."

Jinnipher rolled her eyes. "I didn't think jokes would go quite so high above your head." She smirked, then jingled her coin purse, weighing the options. "It's not a bad price, but I think I'll have to take a rain check. Some other time, perhaps."

The gears in Karie's head began to whir as she tried coming up with some kind of agreement.

"Or... you could make a deal with me. Pay half of it now, half when you get it. You pay 60 now, and 60 later. You get a nice shield you can potentially use, and to top it off, if you don't go Black Knight, you can give it back, and I'll consider the other 60 you owe me null and void. Deal?"

Lind looked up at the argument above him. "If she doesn't want it..." He thought a moment. "Eh, worst comes to worst I extract the Amythest and I've got a spare shield...

Pardon me one more moment, gentlemen, and my apologies for my repeated coming and going."

He walked back up the stairs.

"Since I'm assuming the shield's open to all bidders, since she turned down first dibs on the deal, I'll pay the full 120 gold for the shield - upfront, without any payment plan."

Avalanche leans back and watches the bickering and conversations, not feeling the need to enter it.

Boris slides over to the Yeti, watching the sparks fly between Jinnipher and Lind,

"This ought to be good, no? 5 gold, the winged knight takes a fist to the face from the elf?"

Kheyli chokes on her water. "Is that where he got those wings?" she leans back in her chair, disgusted, as the Black Knight makes his way down the stairs. "I can see why you two don't get along. Where I come from, having wings is a birthright. They can't be transferred from one being to another like a common possession... And to come in, showing them off in front of a crippled fairy nonetheless? How is he considered a hero?"

Kheyli takes a moment to collect herself. "Another fairy, really? I didn't think my people would come to a place like this. No offense, of course, it's just my people aren't the most outgoing species for the most part. I guess that's why most of us live in a different realm entirely," she chuckles.

"I hope so too. I'm definitely not the most skilled hero here, but I think I can at least handle collecting bones, right?" she smirks. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Kheyli."
