Kheyli chokes on her water. "Is that where he got those wings?" she leans back in her chair, disgusted, as the Black Knight makes his way down the stairs. "I can see why you two don't get along. Where I come from, having wings is a birthright. They can't be transferred from one being to another like a common possession... And to come in, showing them off in front of a crippled fairy nonetheless? How is he considered a hero?"

Kheyli takes a moment to collect herself. "Another fairy, really? I didn't think my people would come to a place like this. No offense, of course, it's just my people aren't the most outgoing species for the most part. I guess that's why most of us live in a different realm entirely," she chuckles.

"I hope so too. I'm definitely not the most skilled hero here, but I think I can at least handle collecting bones, right?" she smirks. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Kheyli."

Jinnipher shrugged. "I told him to quit while he still can. Seems to be better at spewing useless knowledge than actually completing quests." She ordered a mead and took a large gulp before replying again to Kheyli. "The name's Jinnipher. Another realm, huh? Well I've heard about the fey world, at least. I guess it's not that hard to believe when some fallen archangel took us to his world in the clouds. I wouldn't dare to think you don't have your own problems there, though."

Jinnipher seemed annoyed that the black knight was still babbling in her ear. She sighed. "I did actually complete the quest, you twit. Meanwhile you got our employer captured and crippled and one of his court killed. Do the math, kid."

He hefted the shield up and down in his hand a few times admiringly. "I wonder if it would be worth outlaying 60 gold and getting myself a pair of Swift Boots in place of my armor, since the shield has the same amount of SP as my Armor and previous shield combined - make a little money on the side..."

Karie takes Lind's money and pockets it before getting back to tuning her newly used guitar.

"Yeah, there's problems alright. Ever heard of Rosier? My kin prefer to deal with him than the issues of this realm. I mean, they're at war with an Archdemon; who can blame them?"

"I can't say I have. Hel of a name for an archdemon, though." Jinnipher took a long drink from her mug. "Things must be pretty bad here if they prefer that. Look at the bright side, more conflict means more work for us. A world at peace is no place for a sellsword." She gazed into her mug and spoke the words halfheartedly, as if she didn't really believe in such a sentiment herself.

"Big enough that it's hand easily wrapped around a Moone Elf. 30, 40 feet or so, give or take."

"Not to be rude, but I was kind of wondering the same thing. I mean, I was literally living under a rock in the Forest, and I still heard plenty about dragons..."

"Well, I got some "ethereal potential", or something. And apparently that's better spent here than washing pigs.

And everyone needs friends. Or you die old and alone, that's what my grandma said. Funny coincedence, she drank life a fish, predicted how she'd go...

Even from a purely selfish standpoint, you need friends. You need to know that there's someone who will loan you that extra five gold when you're broke, that'll let you borrow their sword when all you've got is a whip you're not qualified to use anymore."

"That's a loaded question that implies that I do turn on people. What you are referring to is the fact that I keep promises that I make. I got hired to kill a dragon, I killed a dragon."

Kheyli smiles. For someone who supposedly wasn't fond of friends, Jinnipher seemed awfully friendly. "I mean, I guess it goes either way. You need friends to rely on, but in the end, the only person you can really rely on, like one hundred percent, is yourself, right?" She sits back in her chair, frowning. This was hardly the swashbuckling adventure she'd come to expect.
