K-Nut Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 "...Lady, these things weigh twice as much as the rest of my armor, the only thing I'm carrying, is the idea that these things are heavy. Not to mention they're terrible things to be wearing in a high wind, they're like sails..." Kheyli looks away from the Black Knight. Clearly this was a joke to him. She looks to Jinnipher. "I'm guessing he's always like this?" Quote
Kintobor Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Karie silently got up out of her seat and away from the newer heroes, rolling her eyes as she did so. When she sat back down at the farthest end of the bar away from the group did she speak. "And I though I was a loud mouth." She ordered some food and waited for someone to come by and converse with her. Quote
JimBee Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Kheyli blushes sheepishly. "I've spent enough time in both realms to know my fair share of tales, don't you worry." she grins. She's a bit taken aback at the mug offered to her. She'd never had mead before, but she didn't want to ignore the hardened knight's offer of friendship. She takes a large sip, almost choking on the contents of the drink. "To friendship!" she coughs. Jinnipher smirked and clapped Kheyli on the back a few times. "Don't tell me they don't have mead in the Faerie! Though I don't suppose you need it with all that fairy dust in the air all the time." Boris smiles. "Deathly." The vampire takes another swig of his wine. "Though it's more an issue of hyper-sensitivity than allergy." "And the sunlight? How are you ever supposed to leave this Hall for a quest if it's during the day?" Kheyli looks away from the Black Knight. Clearly this was a joke to him. She looks to Jinnipher. "I'm guessing he's always like this?" "Ignorant, stupid, and hypocritical." She counted off on her fingers. "Yep, that sounds like him. I wonder if they teach those great virtues in the dudecube." Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 "I think my "formity" is quite laughable actually, truest irony I ever heard of. Don't worry, I've got no problem expressing myself when I take offense." Lind shrugged. "Your call. Since I'm already up, can I fetch anything down there for any of you?" "Ignorant, stupid, and hypocritical." She counted off on her fingers. "Yep, that sounds like him. I wonder if they teach those great virtues in the dudecube." "Dodecube. And get off your high-horse, you were clamoring for the wings louder than I was." Quote

I mean, it's just not this strong." she laughs. "Ignorant, stupid, and hypocritical." She counted off on her fingers. "Yep, that sounds like him. I wonder if they teach those great virtues in the dudecube." "I'm sorry, the what-now?" she grabs her cup with two hands before taking another sip. Quote

Funny, because that's not how I remember it." "I'm sorry, the what-now?" she grabs her cup with two hands before taking another sip. Jinnipher waved her hand dismissively. "Some book for a religion that his people made up while on drugs. I don't think the Gods are accepting applications any time soon." Quote

"...You're not worth the effort I'm putting into this argument, so I'm just going to let you and your memory keep on remembering everything in whatever wonderful way makes you think you're such a perfect, unblemishable hero." Jinnipher waved her hand dismissively. "Some book for a religion that his people made up while on drugs. I don't think the Gods are accepting applications any time soon." Lind sighed. "It's a beacon. But hey, I was offended when he disregarded my beliefs, so I won't be a hypocrite," she shrugs. Quote

I'm not sure what's going to happen after the dragon came in and screwed everything up. It's about time they started defending themselves. I'm all for protecting the weak, but you can't call in some sellswords every time your country needs bailing out." Quote
Dragonfire Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to strike a nerve..." Kheyli slouched back in her chair. It was just, well, behind the beast of a man in front of her, she saw something more. Through all of the, for lack of a better term, hard-megablocks in front of her, she thought she'd seen someone like her. Perhaps it was just her hoping... "It's fine. I'd just like to put that behind me and concentrate on the present instead," Avalanche begins, "Did you know that you can advance to different job classes?" he says, trying to change the subject Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 A canister of Last Wishing Powder suddenly materialized in front of Lind. "Huh. Not quite sure when I'm going to need that..." JimBee Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Suddenly a jar poofed into existence on the bar beside Jinnipher. She inspected it and determined it was a Greater Tonic. Uninterested, she set it aside, indicating perhaps that she'd be willing to sell it. "Sounds like a bloody mess. Good thing someone took care of the beastie though, it's only a hop skip and a jump to here and the last thing this city needs is a marauding dragon." "Well apparently it swooped down here to grab King Faust at some point. I'm not sure how effective the Town Watch is going to be against a dragon, though. To be honest, I'm a little out of date with the goings-on around here. Are the Houses still squabbling over power?" She took out a piece of paper and unrolled it, revealing that it was an unsigned Letter of Recommendation. She wondered who, if anyone, would be worthy to be in good graces with. Quote

They'll likely be trying some sort of power play, one of these days or another.I haven't signed yet, but I'm thinking House Shadeaux. Siercon and Coral Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) The Hall doors slam open and Jinnipher strides in with her usual air of overflowing confidence. As she makes her way to the questboard she bumps into a being whose face is shaded. "Watch where you're going." She shakes her head and mutters to herself as she inspects the quest listings. "Heroes nowadays can't even keep track of where they're standing." She signs up for Quest #141. Siercon ignores the bump, and brushes off the clearly errant imperative to "watch where he was going"... still then she had to go off and mutter something to herself. Fortunately for Siercon, being pissed off didn't translate across his face to others. Still, he made a note of openly watching her sign up, running his finger on the board and stopping at the name she just scribbled down. "J-u-n-i-p-e-r" he whispered, purposely misreading it, and loud enough, for anyone who wanted to, to hear... Edited August 21, 2015 by Siercon and Coral Quote

Sandy Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 The doors of Heroica Hall swung open as two trumpeteers in liveries marched in and blew a fanfare with their instruments. "Introducing Her Majesty Quintessa, the Queen Mother of Heartland, Grand Duchess of Lylia, Dame of the Most Venerable Order of the Lily and Protector of All Children!" Scheherazade descended from the saloon to see the cause of the ruckus, only to get handed a sweet pie. "A regal lime pie, a salutation from the Court of Savalon, if you please." "Umm, thank you... Your Majesty. Are you here to pitch a quest, perhaps?" "By gods, no! We are here to join your renown organization. Or rather, Our son, King Jovis of Heartland, strongly adviced We would. So here We are." As the Queen Mother extended her hand, the heralds rushed to remove her long trail and tiara. "Please, call Us Quintessa. No need to be formal, We are here to become one of you commoners. Our son thought Our... resolution ought to be harnessed into fighting evil, instead of keeping order around the castle. We must admit that We were glad to venture elsewhere for the time being. The new queen Our son chose for himself is frankly put an insufferable wench. But We do not want to hear another word about her. Please show Us the wonders of this Hall We have heard so much about." The Queen Mother turned to the heralds one last time. "You are excused. We shall take care of Ourselves from here on out." Lifting her dress up, Quintessa began ascending the stairs to the saloon, leaving the perplexed Scheherazade stare after her. "And I thought I had seen every type of wannabe hero there was..." The matron followed the newest hero to grace the Hall, shaking her head. Quintessa of Heartland (played as a second character by Sandy) 67 years old human female Barbarian Level 1 Power: 4 (1+3) Health: 8/8 Gold: 10 Equipment: Rolling Pin (WP:3, club) Inventory: Potion, Mead Quote
