"Well you said yer responsible fer somethin', figured ya were watchin' someone's stuff and couldn't partake of the drink too heavily." Skrall finished his drink and pulled out his crossbow inspecting all of the components and making sure everything was in working order. "Dozen Hands, ran into him in the sewers. Not necessarily the most agreeable chap, but he made a few good points about the movement. Sounds like they're gainin' more and more support throughout the city anyways. Houses ain't careful, they'll have the rug pulled out right from under 'em."

"I was referring to being a mother and also in another organization, but holding onto others things is something I've done before." Karie replies, finishing her drink as Skrall finishes his second. She nods solemnly as Skrall tells the name of the General he met. She then looks around, ensuring nobody else was listening in on their conversation. "I don't think they even realize at this point by the more they feud, the more they play into Ulric's hand.

Well... um... I'm Violetta's younger sister. Needless to say, I have my reasons for not wanting the man who sent my sister to her grave in power." Karie mournfully replies. She orders another drink and begins to divulge into her new glass of alcohol.

Restored to its glory days? Have you read any of the archives? The hall was never more than it is now.

Who would you purge? The faithless, the betrayers? Those who cause quests to fail, suborned by dark powers?

The word you are looking for is naked. She stripped you defenceless. And what did you do in that state? Rather than asking for help, letting the minstrel with the healing of music, the necromancer who commands the spirits, the dragoon whose dragon is a mighty mystical beast and the raider with the power of duh, rather than letting them help, letting them know of the danger, even if it cost you your very life in service to them, what did you do while defenceless? You surrendered, naked like a squalling baby.

And you think it is others in the hall that tarnish its glory.

Karie motions the newbie over to the bar, slapping a nearby stool.

"Oi! New guy! Over here! You arrived at an inopportune moment, and I'd advise you to avoid the elf and the bearded guy sitting in the corner." Karie nods her head in the direction of the two bickering people to the new cleric.

The black knight nodded. "Listen to the wi-Minstrel, I mean."

He extended his hand. "Lind Whisperer, Black Knight, Slayer of...well, one dragon, but it was a fairly large dragon - and contender to the electoral throne of Crescent."

"More than it is now? I'm not sure what you quite mean by that. Perhaps there are more numbers now, though even that could be debatable, but there is little or no common coal anymore. It seems that the questboard is not screened at all. There was a time, from what I hear, that someone posted a quest that was, basically, just challenging heroes to fight him. I mean, what heroism is there in just sporting with someone.

"I would purge those who are willing to conduits of darker powers. Not all are beyond redemption. Some are though. Even if you have to admit that the situation has to be pretty bad when even demons find their home here and necromancers can send their undead to spy on the happenings in the hall. I doubt it's a coincidence that there seems to be more rogues here than anything else. To some it seems like more of way to escape from justice and punishment than anything else.

"Perhaps you don't understand. I don't blame you. You don't share my calling.

"Asking for help? I could not control my body, much less my words. I could still think and feel, but my actions were not my own. I wish I had been able to prevent myself, but I couldn't. Nerwen, after all that we've been through, do you think I would willingly try to destroy you? You're one of the best heroes I know in this hall. Granted, I don't always agree with you, but you're as good as they come and probably the last person I'd want to see hurt here, well, maybe Erik would be the last, he's a good chap, though I haven't seen him around for a while."

"Not sure what drinking's got to do with motherhood." The ogre shrugs, he pauses at the name of Violetta, "Must have been tough with her passing. Did ya know about her actions when ya joined the Hall?"

Windus nods to the minstrel. "I'll do my best to stay away from them." he said, heading to the bar.

The ogre nods to the cleric, "Pull up a seat. New in town?"

Windus sits on a bar stool, and nods to Skrall. "I just arrived in town. I'll have a stout please."

He glanced at the Black Knight. "Well, i guess not, as there is no one sitting on them."

Windus seemed cautious around the Black Knight. His impending form shook his inner thoughts.

"It was an obvious joke." The Black Knight would have looked at his watch if he'd had one, but he hadn't, so he didn't. He nodded to Skrall. "It was excellent questing with you, sir."

Then he turned, and quietly left the Hall.

--------------

The serpentine dragon found himself slithering through the gardens of Eschaton, his hands guiding a trail of rain clouds through the perpetually starry night sky. Rain fell onto the terrain below, nourishing the myriad white flowers, each one swaying gently in the breeze.

As Immortalis passed through each flower, the memories locked inside each one rushed back into his mind, playing alongside his prophetic visions - his mind reviewing the past and peering into the future. He always found it kind of odd: he emerged from the dawn of time, almost as old as any creature could get. And yet here he was, delving back into his past memories and visions, reliving millenniums in such a short span.

His judgment must be impartial. History must be reviewed to provide context, to prevent repeating the same mistakes, and the future must be peered at to see what possibilities fate had in store for the world. As time went on, Immortalis was forced to take more and more time between judgments. History had a funny tendency to pile up, and his visions had a habit of becoming more numerous the older he became. It was a long process, and a very delicate one - not to mention, he told himself, that free will is free will. The races on Olegaia must not be subject to the whims of those in Eschaton. Their business was their business, until a cataclysm was brewing that he could no longer ignore.

"And there most certainly is one brewing now." the judge notes somberly. He gazes a precious few months into the futures, some possibilities laid out before him.

Intruders enter Eschaton, determined to stop the storm, and are swept aside like nothing at all. Or...

WsPfJca.png

...They succeed. He was struck down, his face bloodied, and a blade plunged right between his eyes, just like his son.

Immortalis could not see the faces of his potential adversaries. But he knew fully well what organization they would come from. He heaved a sigh. If he intervened, bloodshed - whether he was confront personally or not - was a horrible, unavoidable thing. And yet, in Eubric, a mere three dozen or so people were willing to plunge Uland into war, and for what? They had four decades left in their lifespans. But it could cause damage that could last for four centuries, bare minimum. They knew having a king would cause war, and yet they marched so eagerly towards that end? Immortalis shakes his head sadly, and gathers his resolve.

He had a storm to prepare.

"Well, if you call 'making cures for many diseases' a work of heroing, then yes."

Posted

"Ah so you've been to the university then? If you don't mind me asking, curing maladies sounds like a profitable business, why come here?"

"Though i am a Doctor, i am also a connoisseur of different ales and wines. I know it may sound contradictory to my work, but if i

ever become sick due to an alcohol, i can just whip up a simple potion and heal the illness."

"Ah well then, ya've come to the right place. The Hall boasts one of the finest and most extensive liquor cabinets in all the city I think, maybe all of Uland. Not to mention it all bein' free. It's a wonder more heroes don't stay in here drinking all the time instead of questing. If yer whippin' up potions, I'd take care who you'd do it around. The local Guild of Invision doesn't take too kindly to folks encroaching on their corner of the market."

"Thank you for the advice. I'll make sure to be careful with whom i talk." Windus nodded, and took a drink of his stout.

Karie begins tuning her guitar, casually listening in on the conversation between the new doctor and Skrall.

"So, what brings you into Eubric? You from around here?"

"I was exiled from my distant homeland of Kaliphlin. The king of the city had thought my work to be black magic, despite it helping his people."

"Never heard of the place." Karie comments, shrugging. "Although, considering someone came in here claiming to be royalty to Heartland, I've heard weirder. Where's this Kalibilpin located, anyhow?

Here, have this candy cane. The Heartland matriarch gave it to me, and I'm none to fond of sweets."
