CMP Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 "Not an elf. There were some complications during a battle that led to me not being there anymore and here instead. It's a long and tired story." He chuckles as he takes another sip of grog and sputters as he tries to swallow. He scrutinizes the drink. "What is this stuff? Where the Hel is that bar keep? Oh Sherry! Your old goat is home! Could I get some mead?" He passes the grog back to Miderun. "The more I learn about the Orcs the more they sound like my type of person. Too bad we were fighting on different sides of things. Too bad too, that they execute outsiders. Seems like some old habits die hard." He shakes his head. "But you're not going back?" He stares at her wares, scattered across the table. "Where'd you just get back from? Somewhere far?" He inspects the Vest of Faded Trials. "Good build, whatever it is." Miderun snorts in bemusement as Boomingham struggles with the grog. "And this is not even real orcish drink. We don't even really consider this alcohol. Not like all the fruity wines here. Not that I dislike those. Executed? We do not take prisoners so executions are extremely rare. Only one that I can recall recently. And he deserved it, of course." "No. It would take...a lot to bring me back. I want to, more than anything, but there is much more that needs fixing out here, and I...simply shouldn't return for a while. I do hope you and whoever else goes are successful. You'd better be," she added, giving the old man a rather bizarre look that came across as half-hopeful, half-death glare. "My allies and I returned from a very lengthy quest in Spesiala, and Fenario too. Lands full of gourm, sarl myrcand...two breeds of elf that refused to get along. I cannot believe that Baltarok and the High Kingdoms have made peace and those power drunk zangruiuko would not. This armor is from one of their leaders. So Miirym's following it up on that now. I'd say more, but I'm not sure it's my place to--" "Skrall, good to see you again! How long has it been, since Xu I'd wager? As it turns out, Miirym and I needed to come back here to investigate--" Nearby, Miirym closes in on her quarry, a scent she'd smelled somewhat soon before, intermingled with one she'd known a long time past. For a while she is distracted by a similar smell, emanating from the Dwarf Throlar, but she soon sees nothing upon him that would serve as its source, then senses the scent is not quite the same and continues on. At last she reaches its source: the Ogre Skrall, who conveniently enough has just settled down next to Arthur. She stares for a moment at the Hunter with beady eyes, before carefully framing her speech. "<Hello, Skrall. It has been some time since our paths last crossed. Might I ask you about that talisman you currently wear?>" The ogre stares long at the dragon before nodding his head in respect. "That it has young one, ya have grown much since our last meetin', It gladdens me to see master Regulus is lookin' after you... or perhaps 'tis the other way 'round." Skrall smiled before pulling out the talisman. "This is reminder of the complexity of our world, a final bauble from a complex individual named Vorpalis." It seemed the people he was talking to had forgotten him in the hustle and bustle of the Hall, which was just fine by him. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. The ragged heap of blackness that was slumped in the barstool just behind Hybros shifted as the imp sat back and bumped it with his wings, a hoarse grumble following as it, too, straightened up in its seat. Atramor looked like he hadn't moved in four months. The disheveled, newly-wakened rogue mopped up whatever was stuck to his face with his hat, before slamming it back on the counter. He rolled one shoulder uncomfortably while reaching for the nearest bottle. "Hybros, mate, good to see ya' again, but mind those new flappers, I was havin' a good bit of a snooze there." Though I am still waiting on a portion of his payment. His associate, U'Or, seemed to have misplaced it, but he did promise to send it to me by Z-mail once it was found." Arthur smirks at the mention of Scrolls. "I shall never be rid of that association, will I? Actually, I do happen to have a spare Scroll of Elemental Aura on me. I was planning to give it to Noel as a late Grogmas present, but turns out the little scamp already had one, buried amidst the detritus of an uncleaned room." He shakes his head. "I swear, that kid might have the most powerful collection of magical artifacts in all of Uland--if he'd only tidy things up enough to actually find them," he adds jokingly. "Hmm...well, if you're interested, I'd be willing to trade it to you for some Marketplace work. If you could take the Sapphire out of my Spider Leg spear and replace it with my Ethereal Sapphire, and do the same with the Garnet in Sven's Dagger and my Ethereal Garnet, the Scroll's yours." Actually, speaking of said Scroll, has anyone seen Thalion? I promised to pick him something up in Etheria in exchange for his help before we left, but I haven't run into him in the few months we've been back. This other Scroll of Elemental Aura is his, if someone's willing to hang onto it for me." "He was a dragon, though perhaps of different stock than yer sort. He believed vengeance was his, to the point of slaughtering the innocent. He was in one instance just and in the other unjust and it did not aid his case that his vengeance was founded in his earlier cowardice." "<Hmm.>" Though her gaze is impassive, those who know her best can sense her dissatisfaction with such a succinct answer. "<Is that all there was to him? A vengeful tyrant with thought only for bloodshed? It seems...disappointingly simple.>" Miirym pauses, brooding, while Vindsval speaks. Well met Skrall. I would not be too envious. I heard the name most often when accompanied by demands to Leave, or begone, or abomination. And well met to you as well Master Regulus and Master? Mistess? Miirym. He nods to the man and the dragon, unsure how to address the latter, and he is suddenly glad he is no longer wearing his Lethauros Mail. As for myself, I am from nowhere and everywhere. My father was a Ogre and Druid of the Tarok Tribe. He travelled to the far North where he met my mother, a giantess of the ice tribes Their union was not condoned by either side of my "Family," thus I was forced to travel. Constantly harried from place to place, never able to rest. It was in these travels I was visited by the one I call the Wanderer. He set me upon the Path to this Hall where I enlisted int eh service of the people. I like to believe I have made a difference since I arrived here. Arthur nods quietly. "Vindsval," he acknowledges. "And actually, Skrall, it's Arthur Ziegfried, now. I, uh, learned some things about my heritage last year." "<Mistress,>" Miirym helpfully supplies. "<And speaking of heritage...I don't suppose either of you would know anything about a Dragon named Lethauros? From what little I can tell, he was something of a huge, powerful dork. I must wonder how that led to his demise.>" Nerwen returns to the hall, on the way past she sees a group of newer heroes planning on heading to the fields. Nerwen adds her name to the fields sign up. Then she heads upstairs to the saloon, following the busy sound of voices. "Nerwen!" Kiray shouts as she sees the minstrel. "It's been a while. You're joining our party for the fields? great. By the way, here is the 150 gold I still owed you for the katana." Arthur turns his head at the sound of the shout and smiles. "Hello, Nerwen!" he calls with a wave. It takes him a little while longer to place the voice he'd heard, but finally it clicks in. "My goodness, Miss Nastayo? I don't think I've seen you since the Foundation Day fiasco, with Grimwald and Arnulf. Heroica certainly seems to have treated you well since then, hasn't it?" Edited April 10, 2016 by Flipz Quote

Kiray says, as the voice and face finally click for her as well. "That was what, how many years ago? Wait, Boomingham was on that with us! I just reintroduced myself to him! I think I've done well here so far. How have you been? I see you've added a new companion." She waves at the dragon. Quote
