"I... Neither did I. I was always resting up, trying to get well enough to quest once more, but..."

I break down coughing. A few deep breaths, I regain a smidge of composure, but my voice is even quieter, even raspier. I wasn't even looking at you anymore, it was like I was looking past you.

"I could never go back to it. There's a lot of things I wasn't able to do. Write more memoirs. Maybe help solve the issues in Eubric. Study magic. I, I, wanted to be a grandfather for Rachelle too, but I... Well Maxwell is better suited for that."

"You did everyone thing in your power that you were capable of. I don't think anyone would ask any more, or any less of you Sorrow. I know I wouldn't. I'm happy enough just having met you, and at least knowing my past.

Rachelle. I guess you never got to meet her. She's got red hair. Just like me."

I whistle to myself as the pair leave.

"Unless I am mistaken, Heroica is in for a shakeup."

I flung open the door (which miraculously stays hinged), and breathe deeply of the air, glad that I didn't follow the inner voice that told me to go and pay my respects to a dying dead man.

The front door to 36 Repose way was open a crack. A voice was audible from inside.

Rone slowly stepped into the room, trying to make as little noise as possible. He heard a discussion happening in an inner room, and made his way towards it. Praying that he did not interrupt something important, he knocked at the door.

"Well that was something alright," Kiray says after they leave.

"Yes. How many years since they have last stepped into these halls, I wonder? And somebody here says they met the Fey One?"

"The 'absentee parents' seemed to be upset their children didn't grow up as they hoped.  Unsupervised children rarely do."

Karie turns around after being shook by the sound of knocking.

"Dyric? It's unlocked. You can come in."

Did you know them, Monk?

Yeah, I seen her / him (dam that is annoying) once. Like I said Kiray probably would know more about it.

Sorrow? It's me, Dyric. Do you remember?

"Quite so."

I wonder if I should say more, but considering that it's a demon I'm talking to, I figure that less is more.

Is it a secret who they are? Considered they sound like they're shutting this place down. I guess we are going to find out soon or later who ever they are.

"Ah yeah, the Fey one. That was awhile back. A long while." Kiray sips on her drink, contemplating that time. "What exactly do you need to know? I'm no expert, but I'll do the best I can."

"I don't know whether it is a secret or not." I respond coolly. "But if it is, I don't see it as my business to tell. By the way they were dressed, it did seem like they were trying to shade their appearance."

"I guess you met during a quest? May I ask a little more details regarding the quest and what happened?

"My second quest, actually," Kiray confirms as she nods her head. "Euflear was the name. A veteran. The last living founding veteran of Heroica. Really remarkable when you think about it. Euflear asked us to set a meeting with the Dragonlord if possible. Euflear's granddaughter Hope was there as well. We were trying to stop some dragoons, the Fey One helped a bit. A lot, possibly. Aside from Germ, most of the people on that quest are gone."

Sericon might still be around. I haven't see he in a while though. Germ add before he sit down the next table over. And appears to write some Z-Mail to a couple of different people.

There's a long pause. The silence gets heavier and heavier, and then...

"That's, that's wonderful. You'll tell her... about me. W-won't you?"

My eyes remain unfocused, but there is recognition in my voice.

"Ah, Dyric. Is the Mockthril Longbow I gave you still treating you well?"

The younger man gives a slight laugh. It's gotten me out of my fair share of sticky situations, to be sure.

Rone racks his mind for words, but small talk seemed almost an insulting matter when addressing the dying.

You know, he finally manages. A long time ago, we talked about the state of the world. It was after one of the longest days of my life. What I saw could only be described as... Hel. That night Wren was finally defeated, and yet, darkness still reigned. There was always more to do. We promised that we would blot out as much darkness as we could.

I'm going to make that a promise, Sorrow. I'm not going to give up, not anymore. I want to see more heroes grow old. More families. I want the Hall to be a light again, so that even when we pass on others can bear it. I want to bring peace.

People are going to remember you, Sorrow. Because I'm going to remember you. Everyone is going to hear about the Old Hero who gave his all for what he believed in. I guarantee it.

Boomingham snores drunkenly in a corner only dimly aware of big things happening around him.

Hoke chuckles, wondering what dreams were dancing around inside Lawrence's head.

"...I've arranged to rest in a cemetery on Crescent Hill. If you, if you... ever want to visit. if you ever want to take her to..." I can't bring myself to finish that sentence.

You can hear words try to come out of my throat, but it wouldn't cooperate. A shaky hand reaches for the glass of water, fingers trembling as I take a laborious sip, some water splashing out, droplets of water slowly trickling down on the floor. They mirrored something else on my face. Something that you couldn't see too well, but something that had been building up for a long time.

"...Th-thank you. I do not know... what else to say. I hope those two words are enough."

What you've done for this place is more than enough, Sorrow. Believe that.

Rone takes a step back from the bed, giving a soft nod to Karie

The doors to the Training Room burst open as the giant of a man pushes the Copper Fox into the main dining area, the giant's voice thunders.

"You are a disgrace. A black stain upon the honor of this very hall. You are no fox and while you claim to be a wolf, you are naught but a treacherous snake!"

"I... I..."

The giant picks up the veteran by his shirt collar and throws him out the door.

"Jack Altraite, I hereby banish you from Heroica!"

"Well that went about as well as expected, I sure hope Yuliana gets here soon." The dwarf surveys the hall. "If any of ya are in need of trainin' ya can come see me in the Training Room"
