Heroica RPG - Heroica Hall

Coming into the hall after a walk through the city, I notice the new quest and sign up for Quest 12

Hopefully I will get chosen for one of the quests. I then sit down to eat some dinner.

Noting the influx of visitors to the Quest Board, it didn't take long for Atramor to slouch on over himself and scribble his usual messy signature under Quest 12, and then returned to the bar to kick back a few rums.

Hoke notices his former quest mates leaving the3 Questboard. He makes his way over and signs his name under the new quest.

Having finished my dinner I head outside for some exercise. Maybe I can even find someone to spar with.

[Darth Nihilus]

"Hi, fellow," he says, coming out of his reverie and finally noticing Dak.

"Hello there, glad I didn't develop some Rogue skill of invisibility. It seems like I did, but it only affects women. A pity. But you seem like a fine fellow to talk to. Judging by the state of your weapon and clothes you've seen a lot of action. How does it feel, being out in the wide open world, making your own decisions? I have always had my decisions made for me by hunger, thirst, or guards."

And once again, Dak winces as he begins to realize just how bad his social skills are.

[Rumble Strike]

Tarn smiled. "Well, I might not be the best person to ask as I was raised in a monastery. I came of age and saught out Heroica Hall so that I could start to make a difference. Now you are here, so you have made that decision too. It will all stem from that, you will see."

[Masked Builder]

"Ah Tarn, good to see you my friend. How's it going? Excited about that new quest that starts today?"

[Jedi master Brick]

Elgar entered the hall and sat down next to some other heros talking about the upcomeing quest. Elgar knew that this was his chance to shine if he got on the quest.

[Rumble Strike]

"I am very excited Alexis. I know that several of our Questmates from Quest#5 have signed up so it would be great if we were all together again!"

[Fred Daniel Yam]

William sits down next to Elgar and watches a 21 year old barbarian talk (flirt?) to a 21 year old elf who will most definitely outlive him by a couple of hundred years.

"Yes it would be very fun if we go questing again."

A small furry figure darts into the hall baring a slip of paper which he quickly pins to the announcement of Quest 11.

Atramor catches a blob of...what seemed to be hair fly through the hall outside the bar. Finishing his rum, he quickly approached the Quest Board. With a jolt, he realizes he's not only been chosen for Quest #11, he's the Party Leader.

"Leader, huh?" he asked himself, scratching the side of his head. This was an unexpected complication. He'd never really thought of himself as the leader type of person, but, hell, he'd give it a try.

Stuffing his hat back on his head, McCafferey clinging to the black fabric, Atramor reads the rest of the list. Hmm. Some Ranger, some Knight, some other Ranger, and that lovesick Barbarian. No magic on this one...well, alchemy was close enough.

Dak jumps out of his chair and reads the list of chosen heroes.

"Damn!" he shouts after finding his name not on the list."I guess there's nothing to do but put my name on the sign-ups for Quest #12."

After seeing his name on the selected 5 heroes, William feels a grim sense of satisfaction, he refills his quiver and joins Atramor Gibbon, his quest leader.

Tarn went across to the Quest Board and was delighted to see his name on Quest#11, however he was sad that none of his friends had made it in with him. He saw that the sly Rogue with the chicken was Party Leader. "This will be interesting!" he thought to himself.

The doors to Heroica Hall opened. Two guards dragging a man in between them, entered, behind them followed another guard, a woman.

“You know the laws, Patricia”

The man said. His face was wrapped in black cloth, and except for some armour, he was bare-chested. An empty sword sheath was strapped on his back, and on his belt were several holders for throwing knives, daggers or similar weapons.

“So do I, what is this?”

he continued. The female guard responded:

”We are hardly strangers anymore”.

The man grinned, he thought of the countless times he was thrown into prison, the almost equal number of times he escaped and the many times he managed to outrun the guards. Patricia, the female guard said:

” I am not going to give up on you, you have something… special.”

The man remained silent, he was quicker than most other thugs in town, he had more perception and was deadly with sword or dagger, he wasn’t the youngest anymore, but he had no problem keeping up with the young generation. The only reason the guards managed to arrest him this time was because he was sleeping.

“You wouldn’t get this offer from any other guard”

Patricia continued. “You will become a hero of Heroica, and we will not slit your throat right here.”

After the man stayed silent for a bit, she added:” Guts, you leave me no choice, I got orders from higher up.”

The man, named Guts Holla, was surprised by the offer, even if he didn’t show it, after thinking about it and looking for escape routes, he decided that he would take Patricia’s offer, being a hero couldn’t possibly be worse than being dead, right?

“Alright Pat, I will be a hero then, but I will need a weapon, seeing as you took all of mine”(2 swords, 15 throwing knives, 4 daggers, a small crossbow with a poison dart they found in his boot, a heavy stick and a rope with a metal ball on the end.)

Patricia unsheathed her own sword, and held it in front of Guts, she waved her arms to release him at the two other guards, who remained silent the whole time.

“Farewell Guts” she said:” If I ever arrest you again, know you will be killed.”

And with that, the guards left Heroica Hall, leaving Guts standing there. He looked around, most heroes were standing at the bar, some of them looking curiously at him.

“At least the food is free around here” Guts mumbled to himself.

Noticing the other members of the quest, William realises that the party has no magic users. "At least we've got three ranged heroes and two smash and bash types."

Seeing some people around the quest board I go take a look, , feeling a little surprised I realize I've been chosen. It looks like a good group of heroes. I walk over to Atramor Gibbon and William Harkenshire.

"It will be an honor to go questing with you."

Honoured?! Why on Earth would you be honoured to fight alongside a disgraced ranger and rogue?! Aren't you knights supposed to arrest rogues???? But I am still happy you say you are honoured.

"Nuts no questing for me as Alexis glances at the quest board. At least I'm signed up for quest #12. Well Tarn made it into the quest."

Alex le Chevalier runs back down to he quest board and signs:

He runs, in armor, back UP the staircase and gets a drink of water.

It was certainly a bit of a motley crew, Tarn though as he finished his meal in preparation for the Quest. He realised there were no magic users in the party and thought again about Ellaria, her knowledge and magical ability had been incredibly useful in the last Quest. There was also the mage... what was his name? Always digging. Amorith, was it? A useful chap to have around in any case. He hoped that he was doing well on the Quest involving the trespassers and not digging up too much of the scenery.

No, not unless they are bothering our vassels, besides isn't there a little bit of the rogue in all of us? I'm just held in check by the title "Sir."
