Masked Builder Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Sorry guys, I wish I had been much more active in this quest. I kninda got a phone and got realy into gaming on it, so I sort of lost interest in using the computer at all. Masked/Alexis I was pretty disappointed in your activity to be honest. At first it seemed like you were making a comeback from that enormous trip to the Fields, but she didn't end up doing all that much over the course of the Quest. I though she did a good job in the diplomacy minigame - despite the mistakes I thought the interactions themselves were interesting, which honestly I value more anyway. She is also a complete powerhouse when it comes to combat. See above. And I got lost, I just didn't feel like I had time to read the 30+ posts that would accumulate over 24 hours. (Oh however long would go between my checking.) And winning is awesome. Quote
CMP Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 And I got lost, I just didn't feel like I had time to read the 30+ posts that would accumulate over 24 hours. I'd've been pleased enough to overlook it if 30 posts actually did come up over 24 hours. Quote

You could have had the courtesy to mention this to someone instead of just going silent. Or just been responsible and stuck with your commitments. I really doesn't take that long to reply to the game. At least while the quest were combined for the finale, there weren't that many posts that couldn't have been read in 10-15 minutes, tops. Just next time be courteous and participate so it doesn't slow the game down and punish the QMs and responsible players. Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I didn't think I slowed anything down. Just not reading the quest made me loose interest. I did check and if a reply was needed I think I made it in good time. Quote

I did check and if a reply was needed I think I made it in good time. When one signs up for a quest, one is expected to put some degree of effort into it and show that they deserve to have been chosen. Claiming to "Losing interest" is not excuse whatsoever and pretty disrespectful to the QMs who could actually be bothered to put the whole thing together, painstakingly. If you "lost interest" in the quest, why didn't you say so and let another character who actually would like to be there take your place? Quote
Purpearljellyblob Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) Thank you CMP, WBD and Zepher for putting the Baltarok trilogy together and would also like to commend the QMs for pulling it off successfully. It is never an easy task to put time and other things aside to run a six month long quest. All these won't be possible without lots of dedication and perseverance. Purpearl/Purpearl: Purpearl is a marvelous character, she reminds me of Nerwen but an almost younger and more compulsive/stuck up version. No real criticisms, you do a good job of finding the balance between saying too little and saying too much (a difficult line to walk). Her interactions with Nelvin are some of my favorites and while I hoped each of the PC's would be able to connect with an NPC, you took the cake and it allowed me to write for Nelvin naturally as opposed to forced dialog or talking points. Your conversations with the other PC's, especially with Guts, are some of the best in the entire trilogy as far as PC to PC interactions go (probably behind Nerwen and Guts, but this was only your second quest so ). As a player you do a great job of incorporating role-play into your battle actions as well as your puzzle solving without making it seem forced, so keep that up. All in all, as one of the weakest heroes you did an excellent job of making an impact with what you could work with and I'd gladly host or quest with you again. Thank you for your review WBD. I appreciate your feedback and along with the comments others made as well, I will take that all on board and continue to improve on my RP. I understand that there might have been some hiccups along the way but, despite all these, we managed to make it till the end so great work there team #90! I really loved the concept of NPC buddies. That's a very good way to introduce your characters to us, allow us to role play and interact with them and with the world you've created without affecting the storyline. Battles wise, I loved the battles and I felt that the enemies were well balanced and as a team, we worked well together. The puzzles were interesting as well and they provided depth and complexity to your quest. The parting gifts at the end of the quest were well thought out. Overall, I am pleased to be part of this experience and I'd love to be part of your quest again. Edited May 23, 2014 by Purpearljellyblob Quote
Chromeknight Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Showing the carnage of Carn probably would have served the quest better, and a body count would have been nice, but why would the Nords admit to being paid to take Grishnod? I don't know if even all the Nords were in on it - I can't imagine Belvin being aware of such a plot (and I never signed off on him being in on it) so it's possible he really just thought Grishnod was someone who had been captured normally. But yes, not knowing the Orcs - that was purposeful. No one in the High Kingdoms cares enough to know them apart, even the "good guys" Valentino and King Speros. I didn't know Pie would be requesting that in the end, so I didn't really foreshadow it. But I agree it could have served the quest. I don't have that many Orc heads, which is why I ended up doing the Kingdom's side of things, actually. And what do you mean by a "break-down" of relationships? As in, what everyone's goals were? Or how they felt about each other? I can post that up when I do player reviews in the evening, at least on the Kingdom's side, if there's interest in that! But yes, I'll post that political guidebook tonight! Poke! Quote
Zepher Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Sorry, got busy! Political Guidebook Belvin and his Nords Friendly with: King Speros Disliked: Paladins Goals: Essentially, the Nords realize they'd be losing some major income once the bridge was built - there'd be far fewer ships for them to raid. So, they tried to get some gold for "protecting the bridge" which meant, essentially, not attacking it. King Speros saw an opportunity to stop them from raiding coastal villages, and so added that to the deal. King Speros Friendly with: Valentino, Belvin, Prince Speros (sort of!) Disliked: David, Raguel, Heweyrt (sort of), Orcs, Nords Goals: Speros had been convinced that the bridge was for the best of the Kingdoms - he thinks that if the Orcs are friendlier with the Kingdoms, they are less likely to attack, and also that if they were to attack the Kingdoms would have an easy route of retaliation. His goal with the Nords is detailed above. King Valentino Friendly with: King Speros, David, Heweyrt Disliked: Bastala Goals: Wanted to complete the bridge. He believes that the Orcs have a land rich with resources (though that has yet to be proven true, exactly) and he hoped to increase the wealth/prestige of his rather small kingdom by trading with them. Besides, a construction project creates jobs! Hamilton Friendly with: Valentino, David (sort of) Disliked: King Speros (sort of), Prince Speros, Mint, Raguel, Orcs, Nords Goal: To serve the Red Lizards, who, in his mind, are very much ruled by Valentino. Prince Speros (and Mint) Friendly with: King Speros (sort of), Each Other Disliked: David, Raguel, Nords, Orcs Goal: Prince Speros (and by extension, his mentor/friend Mint) found the "political stylings" of King Speros to be cowardly, shameful, and fruitless. They wanted only to make their nation look powerful, a force to be reckoned with. Mint, older and a bit wiser, having seen more battles, did actually understand King Speros' stance on the Nords - continued raiding would only harm their country. Prince Speros, who had never experienced the Nordic raids, was less committed to the peace. Prince David Friendly with: Raguel, Valentino Disliked: Orcs (particularly Bastala, if he were to ever learn her name), Nords (Belvin in particular for being in the capitol with a force), King Speros, Heweyrt Goals: To be a competent and inspiring ruler in the place of his father. To see his father's work finished (the bridge) even though he didn't fully comprehend it's importance. To rescue his father. Raguel the Warrior Priest Friendly with: David Disliked: Orcs, Nords, King Speros, Prince Speros, Heweyrt Goals: To protect the young Prince, and to teach him the ways of the Lord of Light. To spread the protection of the Lord of Light to all, and to prevent the Orcish Invasion he saw brewing once more. Heweyrt ????? Hopefully that's helpful! Character Analysis Nerwen - I talked about it a lot in my over-view of the quest, but I loved hosting Nerwen. She was both likable and dislikable, often times for the same reasons/actions. Nerwen knows what she thinks is right, and is more than willing to stand by it, but it can swing back and forth between being certain to being stubborn to having fortitude of character to being blind to others. It's very interesting. I think that Paladin was the right path for her, and I'm glad you took me up on the offer! It wasn't necessary for the quest, but I hope you liked the goodies that came with it, and that you had a good time. Her interactions with Guts, as I said before, were outstanding, and so was her budding friendship with Purpearl. I enjoyed playing Gocklo and Raguel off of her as well. Hoke - Like I said before, as well, Hoke is a very "business oriented" sort of guy, and I think it worked for this quest, and is great for the character. I personally don't have a brain for politics either (even in our microcosm version of politics I get kind of muddled - in the real world where I don't make up the motives myself I get totally lost), so it was fun to see him sort of throw up his hands and just do what he was supposed to do. I appreciate his straight-forwardness too, he never has much subtlety in his speech, and is always willing to bluntly speak his mind. I don't think he's a character without convictions either - when he sees something he doesn't support/like, he saws so. He makes quick and honest decisions. I like also that he is affected by his past, but not in major ways. He never seems too rattled by the quests he goes on, but he likewise never seems to forget them, and you can see them hovering around in his head. Benji - I love Benji, actually. I've spoken in the past (or have at least thought about it in the past) about his more amoral stance on the world, and I really love it. He seems to me like a character who just does whatever he does, if that makes sense. His reptilian nature has only pushed that alienation. I want to see it develop more! I also want to thank you for your participation - though Benji is quieter you were always willing to post a smirk or a hiss or something that communicated that both you and Benji were present and had opinions, even if you didn't share them! I love that! Tesni - Awesome as always when you were around. Gocklo liked you. I thought you might have fun with the Nords, which is why I picked you, but you dropped off the face of the planet after a month. Bummer. Really makes me feel very sad and tired when I have to try to force people to participate, and it really drags the fun down for me and others (I imagine). I've hosted you a few times, and it's been happening a lot for you recently. I'd have to think long and hard before selecting you again. Jess - See above. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Heweyrt ????? I knew that guy couldn't be trusted (especially with that face you picked out for him). Him or Glocko, especially how he reacted when Tra-Serrel practically gutted Nerwen. Quote
Flare Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Benji - I love Benji, actually. I love that! Thanks Actually I've never intended for Benji to be amoral, rather someone who's morals have been deeply tucked away and hidden, but are still subtly influencing his decisions - although not to strongly, as you can tell. The reptilian aspect has been hard worked for it and I'm glad its working out. Not related to this quest, but still directed to Zepher: In Quest #102: Debts, did you start it off with individual side-quests? That's an interesting technique... Quote
Zepher Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 No, I'm just making my questies wait in purgatory forever, pretending that one day a PM may come their way. But yes, they're all on side-quests. And if they're lucky, maybe they'll all meet up in a bit. I figure we gotta keep the game fresh, and I don't think we've ever started a quest this way before! Quote
Kintobor Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I think it's different, and very neat! I wasn't expecting it at all, so good job, Zepher! Quote
Palathadric Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Or maybe it's just Zepher's way of balancing the most unbalanced team Heroica has had together. Quote
Flare Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Or maybe it's just Zepher's way of balancing the most unbalanced team Heroica has had together. If he succeeds then.. Well color me impressed! He's got the highest levelled hero and one of the lowest Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Having finally got back to my bricks I am finally getting round to hosting a quest, but would like to ask if anyone has any plans for Newharbour? Thank you! Quote
Duvors Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Having finally got back to my bricks I am finally getting round to hosting a quest, but would like to ask if anyone has any plans for Newharbour? Thank you! Not that I know of, but I'm not a QM so I really don't know anything, I have an idea that a lot of commerce would flow in from Moone and Titaan. By the way, how do you plan to portray the inhabitants? Quote
Palathadric Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Just a question since I'm getting frustrated with digital modelling and have somewhat burnt myself out with it, would anyone like to help me by making sets for or co-hosting a quest? Quote
Endgame Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I could make a set or two, but I suspect your LDD skills surpass mine. Quote
Masked Builder Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Depends on what you need. PM me with your thoughts. Quote
Cryos Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Hey, where would one find the big Heroica RPG! Logo (Preferably with the alpha layer) that's at the top of most quest banners? Quote
Cryos Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 This? Precisely! Thanks, now I can hurry and finish the banner. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I could make a set or two, but I suspect your LDD skills surpass mine. My LDD skills probably don't surpass yours, but then again, LDD is the enemy. SR 3D Builder rulez for life!!! Depends on what you need. PM me with your thoughts. Thanks, Masked! I will. Quote
