Lind Whisperer Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Although I wasn’t a player in #124, I just want to say that I really enjoyed reading the NPC interactions that went on. NPCs can sometimes feel a bit flat, since they’re mostly there to either advance the plot, or a pre-written story. I didn’t get that feeling from anyone in #124. They all really blended well into the story, and felt like actual people the heroes were talking to. I especially enjoyed the Laureline/Darksten interaction - that was probably my favorite part, as both the QM and the PC clearly had different ways they wanted the interaction to end, and both of you were writing some brilliant dialogue as the characters verbally dueled it out. Pacing wise, I also thought it was very well-paced overall, especially the dwarves re-appearing at the end - I know that wasn’t planned, but it gave them a bit more meaning than if they were just another random encounter. The ending with the Count felt a bit short, since it was written, but had it been a television episode it would have worked just fine. Loot-wise, it did seem a little light, but it was a story quest, and if I had been on it, I would have felt the high-quality of the NPC interactions definitely made up for anything light in the drops All in all? Excellent reading, and I really need to sign up for one of your quests someday. Edited March 2, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Comrade Commander Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Quest #124 Review Overall I enjoyed this quest! I want to thank Sandy for putting it together, and I want to thank my fellow questmates for playing along. NPCs: Overall I enjoyed the NPCs. I felt the first few at the beginning were rushed a bit, but they were minor characters and we were loosing battles so no big deal. As a guy who hasn't been fully invested in the different conflicts between houses, it was interesting to see how the quest played out. I personnaly don't like going into the wiki (or other quests) to get indepth knowledge of the backstory as I try to play Darksten as a bit naive and it helps when I don't know more than he does. However, I find I am going to have to dig in a bit more to connect a lot of the dots. Even still, the little I did skimmed over helped a ton and I enjoyed some of the exchanges. Obvouisly the last one between Darksten and the Hinckwell matriach didn't end up the way I wanted but that's life. haha, and I understand that the story must be played out. That being said, I loved the girlfriend twist you pulled Sandy to counter my arguement as I admit I wasn't thinking of it appearing like that. Battles: In regards to the battles, I might still be a little new to this, but I think the battles were more fair than others have given them credit for. We might have been able to win the battle against the dwarves at the start had I read the special hits a little more closely and not been KO'd first round, and the fairy battle could have gone different if we had gotten better roles. Of course that was the theme of the entire battle as our rolls pretty much were the worst we could get, but that lead to a bit of fun for RP sake so I don't mind. Overall, I defintely learned a lot more about being Party Leaders so I definitely appreciate everyone bearing with me Players: I hope both of you can forgive me for making a Darksten bit of a jerk against both of you. I definitely felt you guys did a great job going through. haha, I enjoyed how Bobby stayed in character the entire time with his "street talk." I am not an expert in character development so I won't give indepth analysis of your playstyles, but I wouldn't mind playing with you guys again! Loot: I played a bit greedy this quest, so I might have gotten a lot of the better loot and that is why others feel short changed. That being said, a lot of the minstrel stuff is useless for me right now even if it is kind of cool. But I knew going into this quest that is what I was going to get, so no major complaints. Pacing: I felt the quest moved along nicely. Now that I know the last two battles were add-ons I definitely appreciate the effort you took. Had we simply walked away from the other two battles and ended with the Crowd battle (was there a peaceful solution?) it might have felt a little skimpy. Bu the way it turned out was perfect. So overall, thanks again and I am always happy to hear feedback about my performance! Quote
Sandy Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Had we simply walked away from the other two battles and ended with the Crowd battle (was there a peaceful solution?) it might have felt a little skimpy. Bu the way it turned out was perfect. No, the crowd battle was going to happen no matter what you did. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Quest 124: Awesome quest as usual, Sandy! Really glad to be in on it! The pacing was nice, and the plot was nice and quick and didn't drag on. I thought all the characters, major/minor, were all good. (Though I agree with Zepher a bit, I'd like to see more in depth stuff from the host of the quest.) Just a few considerations.... the battles. They were really overpowered, like insanely. And also due to luck of the dice, I don't think I got much of anything other than Special Damages. Anyways, even if they were balanced, I wish there was a better variety of getting the quest done. I felt it was battle after battle, and if we tried to solve it any other way, we would eventually be led to an unavoidable battle. (I liked the idea of Darksten throwing a bone to distract the crowed, so adding in the possibility of different solutions to a problem would make the quest even better!) The quest was still good, just some stuff to consider. Fellow PC's were great, would love to quest with both of you again! Quote
Kintobor Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 With the final quest wrapped up, I want to give a big, huge, extravagant THANK YOU to the QMs and players who participated in the Halloween Anthology. I cannot and refuse to take all the credit, as it was a group effort that helped shape the quests into some very fun and very entertaining stories. Flipz, Endgame, CMP, and WBD, you guys did a fantastic job on your quests, and each player who participated deserves a pat on the back! As of right now, I have no intentions of running the event this year, but if a group of QMs found it fun, I wholly endorse them to pick it up again! Again, thank you everyone for your participation! Khorne Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Quest #117 Some quick thoughts on this Quest. First off, I'd enjoyed it, but I really do have to admit I enjoyed it mostly because of player interactions with CutCobra and Lord Duvors than the actual story itself. Honestly, I kind of feel this was one of your "lesser" Quest. The sets were nice and I liked the characters, but the story was kind of 'meh'. Also, like you said yourself, the timing kind of dragged on at the end, but I doubt there was anything you could do, so I don't really blame you. There wasn't really much of a story, I feel. We just went from tavern to tavern . The dreams were mysterious and I kind of like that we don't know what killed Rollinger. I guess all three of us killed him in one of those dream induced by the items. I know I killed someone in a dream . I've said it before in the general discussion thread, but I really loved that we simply buried Rollinger in a ditch next to the tavern. Hooray for Heroica heroes! I love love loved the party dynamic! Rollinger trying to be the face of reason in the midst of three maniacs, that was just great . Honestly, I don't really see how it could've ended differently for the poor Paladin. You don't say 'no' to people like Eric and Heckz (and Throlar if he has one of his rage fits). Heckz is awesome. I love how he's all mean and selfish and thinks he's the best, while in reality he can be quite 'dumb' at times. He's not perfect like he thinks and that what makes him great. I love the humor of the character and reading his posts always brings a smile to my face. In any other Quest, Eric would probably see Heckz more as a rival (not an outright enemy), because they both want the same pieces of the cake: gold, fame, good looks and women. Plus, they're snarkers and very vain and arrogant. They would definitely clash. Here, Eric rather found himself in an "alliance" with the Sorceror, because Throlar united them both against him. It was lots of fun and I really hope I get to quest with Heckz again. Throlar is... Throlar. He can be weird. His moral compass is more just than that of Heckz and Eric, but he always want to rub that in people's faces which is his character flaw. That and the bouts of sudden rage don't lend him much credibility to the outside world, which is in fact something the Dwarf does earn. He's not dumb, he has a sense of justice, but people will always view him as "the crazy Dwarf", I think. It's kind of sad, but also really defining in my eyes. I love Eric's interaction with Throlar. Their arguments and tantrums define their relation, but that's what really makes it more awesome . I love "fighting" with Throlar. Short version: loved the party and I hope to quest with both players/characters again . Quote
Cutcobra Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 First off, I'm not one to make a whole book criticizing the quest, so I'll make this quick: Unlike your other quests, Kinto, this one I didn't like very much at all. The inns were dull and there weren't much NPCs to talk to after the first inn. Rollinger also felt like the stereotypical "goody goody paladiny" type. At least to me. Aside from that, the first inn had nice NPCs to talk to, the Rollinger "plot twist" was unexpected (was there any way we could have avoided that? )and the PM part was also interesting. The PCs: There isn't much to be said here that hasn't been said (alliance with Eric when they could have been potential enemies, Throlar's rage, etc). I just want to know how a supposed diplomat says phrases like "Shut up" when he hates someone, Lord Duvors. Shouldn't he say something snarkier or is that just his character? Quote
Duvors Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The PCs: There isn't much to be said here that hasn't been said (alliance with Eric when they could have been potential enemies, Throlar's rage, etc). I just want to know how a supposed diplomat says phrases like "Shut up" when he hates someone, Lord Duvors. Shouldn't he say something snarkier or is that just his character? By that point I feel that he was just to tired and fed up with the whole thing to say anything more sophisticated then that.I really can't add anything that hasn't already been said, the story wasn't as good as it might have been but the character interactions made up for that very well. I really enjoyed the dream sequences and the short cameo's that Lupine and Dimitri (I think that's his name) had in my PM adventures. All in all, a fun little quest that I enjoyed very much. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) EDIT, sorry. Better suited to Gen. Edited March 10, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Palathadric Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I think the party interaction was so good that Kintobor didn't want to ruin it by throwing in too many NPCs. I know that this will be a quest that I will read again though. Quote
Kintobor Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Quest #117 Okay, so I'm going to make this as brief as I can because I can go on tangents. I thought this quest was solid in concept... not in it's execution so much. I'll agree with the PC's that the quest wasn't that great. I probably should've reduced the amount of inns visited, the PM chains should've been more frequently used, had the Dulahan chase the party... but I think this quest's saving grace is it's PCs, because hot DAMN do I love the party interactions! I love seeing a party tear itself apart, and it's never been more so apparent than in this quest (and I've been in two quests which have torn parties apart!) I think the fights were alright. The Shadow battle I thought was going to be easy, but I did enjoy that it seemed to be challenging without being brutally hard. About who, or what killed Rollinger... I'm not telling. I think it's one of those mysteries that's better left unsolved. I like having some ambiguity at times, a sense of not knowing the whole truth. My three favourite scenes are the opening, the Brick'lin inn, and the Wayward Angel inn, just for how much atmosphere they had. Seeing the PC get worried about potentially igniting into flames was one of those QM moments I will never forget. The Party: I think Khorne said it best. Everything he's said I agree with one hundred percent. You guys were a great party, and I just loved some of the immature, selfish, childlike bickering that happened during the quest. Since Khorne didn't talk about his own character, I'll add some stuff here. I'll say that Eric was an interesting character, in that if he was a really person I'd hate him. I love his interactions with the various female NPCs, trying to get in bed with the barmaid, feeling something for Lydia, but being such a dominant. A womanizing hero is an interesting character trait, and one we haven't seen before. Although it's a rather negative trait, roleplaying and RPGs in general allow us to explore different characters and different view points, so kudos for doing something different, and even somewhat taboo. I'd love to see him come face to face with some kind of dominatrix to put him in his place. Eric's somewhat childish behaviour at the end was brilliant. I loved that moment because it made Eric look selfish and arrogant in the readers eyes, but the superior in Eric's. He won't take nothing from the dwarf at this point, and the fact he tossed the pearls away said more than words ever will. If you guys have any questions, I'll answer them here. I also have an Eternal Reaper sum up I want to post, since it's been surprisingly quiet. Again, thanks for coming along, you guys were awesome! Quote
KotZ Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Hey 126ers, thank you for being a part of my quest, and thank you Sandy for allowing me to continue the Tridentia/color story. A lot of things (for me) went right with this quest and a lot went wrong, but I had a blast doing it again. Quest I'm really glad to be able to go back to Tridentia, especially with two of the original questers returning, so there was some things in there that made me smile when the party interacted with each other and the NPCs. I tried to do less railroading for this quest than my first one, aside from after killing the Scorpion as I had no battles planned after that. I really enjoyed writing the Sumeros, especially Fabio. I'm not like him in real life, so getting to write Fabio and make jokes about him (and the real one) with CMP was a blast. Having Lacy and William marry and adopt Luke was also a moment for me that I enjoyed, as three of the most important NPCs from the original quest got to become happier and now have more of a leadership role in the town, which will become much more important in the future quests. The battles were much easier to manage since everyone was relatively close in level (except that medal of glory seems to be a running theme for Tridentia) and what really bothered me was how confused I got with adjusting stats after battles. I have no idea what happened. The scorpion battle was supposed to happen in the cave, but giving the party the option to bait and lure the creature out was much more interesting. The Virgil/golden lotus ending wrote itself. I knew I wanted Virgil to be at peace and for the plant to have some kind of property and I'm glad I wrote it how it did. Introducing the rest of the Den clan was great. Most of the NPCs in this quest will appear again and I can't wait to write the Dens again and really really dig deep into them. Party Asphalt- Once again, Vindsval was my favorite character on the quest. Watching him interact with Luke and the others was great. I really like where you're taking him and hope to QM for you again, especially in the next Tridentia quest, since Luke is going to have a much bigger role and seeing how those two come together will be great. On a side note, did you recall the name of the Dens and Vindsval was just being polite? I was expecting something to happen between him and the Dens. CMP- Miderun is a great character and has grown since her first quest. Like I said for Asphalt, it was great watching her interact with people back on Tridentia. Her reactions to Fabio were great. Kintobar- I like Annie, and I think she grew a lot on this quest, especially towards the end as she gained steam and confidence, and writing Fabio's horrible flirting to her was hilarious. TCM- Warlen has grown on me since our first quest together, and QMing instead of questing for you and Actaeon was really different, mainly because Kiray wasn't there to interact with you both. Warlen ended up with some nice loot this quest. Actaeon- The same thing as I said to TCM. The only thing is where did you go? Actaeon pretty much disappeared right after the loot for the final battle was distributed and I wasn't sure what exactly happened. I was really anticipating some party infighting at the end with the Dens, based on how Vindsval and Actaeon interacted at the beginning of the quest. Overall, thank you for being in my second quest and letting me write for Tridentia again. Criticism is more than welcome and feel free to ask me questions about the quest. Quote
Kintobor Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Quest #126 I thought the quest was good, but there's some bits that I wish could've been a bit more focused. As a whole, the quest had a bit of an undercooked narrative. I feel as if the quest's premise was good, but I feel it could've been handled a little better in terms of weaving the battles together, because that's the part that honestly lost me. The battles, while good on their own right, felt as if they'd been taken from three different quests and thrown into this one. There was really no connection to them. As an afterthought, if you managed to tie the battles into the Golden Lotus's rapid spread growth of the plants in the area, then perhaps a series of wood and earth enemies might have been fun. The other thing I wanted to comment about is perhaps some of the NPCs felt a little superfluous on the trip to the Lotus. I get why Virgil's there, and I also get why Fabio's there, but the other Sumeros I felt could've stayed behind. Javier felt a little underwhelming, and what happened to Rose? She had one line of dialogue after the Monkey fight. Perhaps like the character from Dr. Who she got teleported to another dimension? This many NPCs made it hard to also tell who the story was about- the PCs, or the NPCs. Always always always make sure you focus on the PCs as much as you can. NPCs are necessary, and often times incredibly memorable, but they cannot overshadow the PCs. I don't think there was a moment that felt as if the PCs were background characters, so it wasn't the worst I've seen it happen, nor was it bad, but it felt distracting at times, so keep an eye on that for next time. Bill Wallace, or somebody showed up too, or something, I don't remember... It's not your fault, but it did break the immersion, and that always sucks. I did like stuff in this quest! As much as it seems like I ragged on for a bit, I did have a lot of fun. This was an excellent party. You had the right balance, and a pretty fleshed out party (all the base classes except rogue! ) so combat wise it was good. The enemies were tough, but not overtly tough, so the fights were a good challenge, and I did really enjoy Virgil and Fabio. Those two were a blast to RP off of, and to me they're both probably my favourite parts of the quest. That and I did enjoy both cringing in and out of character at Fabio. The stuff in town was good, although I could tell it resonated more of of Miderun and Vindsval more due to connections, which is fine. I'm more than willing to come on another of your quests, King. Keep up the good work! Characters: Miderun: Miderun certainly is unique. I love the orcish heritage and I really dig her sort of foreign look on everything, especially violence, since Annie tries avoiding it all costs. There's just something so endearing seeing these two opposites collide (a very loud, action oriented and a quiet, more passive character) and manage to get along. Some of my favourite RP's come off of Annie and Miderun's interactions, including the one about romantic advancements with Rose, so I hope the two quest again! Warlen: I feel Warlen's a lot more likeable now that Quarion's out of the picture, at least on quests. Quarion was a bit too off beat even for my tastes, and a lot of my quests get very strange. I like his sort of merriment and all around tomfoolery, although he does understand there's a time for fun and a time for seriousness. I want to comment on Warlen's backstory. First off, sorry for not responding to that. Bad form on my part. Secondly, not the greatest thing to spill at once, seeing how you more or less have to stick to that and you've left no suspense... but, you did include a reason for why your character is adventuring, and a reasonable one at that. Also, there's still stuff you can work around with that backstory, so it's not that bad. You actually pulled it off pretty good, looking back. Warlen's growing on me, so keep it up! Vindsval: I really dig Vindsval. A lot. I love the gargantuan mass followed with the chivalrous, almost gentlemanly demeanour of the character; juxtaposition at it's finest. I was a little worried when his arm got cut off, but now I think it's helping his character along alright. Vindsval's a highlight of not needing a whole lot to make a character interesting. Mundane is totally fine. I like the whole Wanderer aspect, I love the interactions with Miderun speaking Orcish with Vind not knowing his race's native tongue, he's like Skrall or Grimwald in that he's not that extraordinary of a person, but that's why I love him! Keep up the good work! Acteaon: I liked what I saw of him. It's a shame that you went silent near the end, but I did enjoy Acteaon's presence. His inner monologue was fun to listen in on at times, and his time talking with the PCs was good. Perhaps a bit more interactions would've been nice, but you weren't a lone wolf either, so nothing too bad. Next time though, if you know you're going to be away, drop a post in the general discussion, or a PM to the Quest Master telling them you might be absent. Other than that, I'd be down with questing with Acteaon again! Annienal: Annie's starting to stand on her own two feet, which is awesome. I love how this quest really solidified her as a nerdy bookworm who has no solid ideas about romance. That being said, she's becoming more dependable in a fight, and she's starting to worry less, which is fine. It's a trait that was going to become less prominent as the character progressed. She has to, otherwise she become stale. I'm still tinkering around with her, but I now have a solid idea of where she's going. Edited March 17, 2015 by Kintobor Quote

The Chosen Minifigure Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Thanks for the experience. KOTZ! I will say that I agree with everything here, and would just like to add a little extra. First, I adm I lovers the battles, but agree that they were a tad unsymmetrical. That middle one was like a FOG trip. However, they were fun. My main problem was the loot, and I know Asphalt had this problem as well. All but the ace was directed to rangers and rogues. Now, sure, that's 50% of classes covered, but rogues weren't even in this one. Just saying. However, that said, I did love the interactions between various characters. So thumbs up for your part in that. Here you go. Characters. Miderun- As a character, Miderun confuses Warlen. She's a somewhat contradictory person to him, although that's just IC. Ooc, I love her (though not as much as Fabio. :tounge: ). And I love how you've tied her into the main story of Heroica. Thumbs up for you too. Annie- Okay. Right. Annienal. In character (penny's in the air...) as you may have guessed from his very, very, very subtle flirting, Warlen basically has a crush on her (and the penny drops!). However, unlike several players I've read from trawling the old quests, I want to make it more... realistic. I mean, Warlen's courage is definitely not enough to straight up admit his love for her, but he's confident enough for subtlety. And OOC? Annie is my third favourite character, after Boris and Nur. Vindsval- IC. Hmmmm. Warlen... look, he doesn't like Vindsvals attitude. He hates know it alls, wise people, and authorial figures generally. But, Vindy is on the one hand like that, but on the other (unless your Vind, in which case just use the same hand ), he's a pretty decent guy. Ooc? I'm not quite sure. I think I'll rese judgement for now. Actaeton- I love Act. He's great. In fact, in this whole quest, he was the easiest to banter with, which made it even more of a pity he became so quiet towards the end. But I love Act. Thank you. That will be all. Me- Dropping Quarion was the best idea I ever had. He was originally there for me to banter with, but it wastas fun bantering with myself, and he became a dead weight. Then I removed him and it all became way easier. As for my backstory, that was established in, like, my third Heroica post. It's been put aside since, but I have plans for it upon reaching advanced class. Stay tuned! Well, that's all for now, so goodnight for now, folks! Quote
Asphalt Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) On quest 126 The quest. I enjoyed it. There was a nice solid story line and Miderun and Vindsval being able to return and visit with old friends was fun. I know I enjoyed being able to write to and catch up with the characters from Vindsval's first trek into heroica and I can assure you Vindsval will be signing up for any quest that has Tridentia in the title. It is a lot of fun to get in on the ground floor so to speak of a new area of a well established world and he an integral part of its development. Vindsval cant wait to see Luke and the others again. I did catch the name of the Den clan. I didn't think Vindsval would be one to shout out, "Your murderous bastard of a father, Ai, I was the one that slew him." I was hoping for some more dialog with them before the dismissal. But since everyone else had already split and Vindsval didnt get a response to his question about how they came to power It didn't like it was going to continue. I would be perfectly happy to edit Vindsval's leaving and get into it with the old man. Other than Vindsval's old friends Fabian was my favorite NPC. I kept waiting for someone to take a swipe at him. Vindsval was close a time or two after some of his comments to Annienal. The battles were fun and challenging enough to keep things interesting. My only complaint is that there transitions from scene to scene were a bit abrupt. a little more lead in would have been great. But a lot of that has already been said. I think if there was another interaction with the pirates upon setting sail from tridentia that might have tied in the initial action to the rest of the story. Perhaps they too had heard rumors of a miraculous bloom hidden on the island. I agree with Warlen on the loot side of things. IT did seem a little geared to one particular niche of characters, but overall I like what was dropped. Consumables are never to be underestimated in the loot, but some ether user specific items would have been greatly appreciated by Warlen and Vindsval and there was nothing knight specific for Annienal. I am assuming that the loot was devised before the quest was initiated. Like I said, overall I had fun and look forward to your next quest. On to the characters. Vindsval- My main goal for Vindsval is to write a believable character that is fun to read. I think I am doing alright so far, but I want to make him a bit more convincing. I appreciate all of the input you all have given me thus far and I am very happy to see that there are many who enjoy where I am taking him. This was my first time as a full quest leader and it is harder than it looks. I tried keeping everyone happy with loot and not be bossy with actions. Battle order was the hardest. Annienal had the highest armor score so she took the brunt of most of the attacks. I tried to rotate the rest of us as fairly as possible. No one has commented on my sucking as a quest leader so I guess I did alright. And on a side note, someone please tell me if all the Path, Trail, road references start to get old. I dont want him to lose his religious side, but I don't want him to become his own cliche either. Annienal- The shy knight has by far the clearest written voice of the characters, and that made her very fun to read. The way her speech and actions are put down on the screen paints a very vivid picture of the timid young lady. (all puns intended there) She immediately brought out a protective attitude in Vindsval. Even though she is an accomplished warrior she hit that soft spot Vindsval has for children and the attacked. I would love to go on another quest with her. Miderun- This was Vindsval's second quest with the confrontational orc woman and it was fun as usual. It was fun to play the confused card when she spoke in a language that everyone assumed that another greenskin should know. I have to admit I was kinda looking forward to Miderun attacking Fabian out of spite for his sexist mannerisms. I had a lot of fun reading the interactions between her and Annienal and her in Fabian. Keep up the good work, and for the love of the Wanderer, teach Vindsval some orcish. He might be half Ogre, but everyone expects all greenskins to speak the same language. Warlen- Vindsval initially saw Warlen as someone who didnt take life quite serious enough and often showed a great disrespect for those he had just met. AS the quest progressed he started to gain a some respect in the half giants view and Vindsval started to see him as someone with a good bit of potential if he could learn to keep his mouth shut. He was fun to read. I know I have only been here a short time but it was the first time I have read a character having a physical reaction to drinking a consumable. The bit of drunken shenanigans after consuming the mead was a RP high point for Warlen in my opinion. Vindsval isn't about to go out on the town with the mouthy smalling, but he wouldn't throw him off his seat if he sat down to chat. Ohh the one hand joke, a strike a palpable hit good sir. Also, I hadnt really read anything with your floating skull other than in the hall, but I think you did well without him. Actaeon- Actaeon and Vindsval's interaction started out rocky and I was really hoping that the two characters would have a chance to get into it more. Both have a strong view of the what they feel is proper behavior and it clashed a bit. Every good group of character has at least a couple that fray on each other and I was hoping to get a little more negative energy brewing between the two. IT adds so much spice to an adventure when you dont know what will happen between the heroes. I am assuming since he has been silent for quite some time something serious in real life has taken residence, and I look forward to he and Vindsval meeting up in the future. Sandy Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 So, I heard it through the grapevine that there was going to be some sort of epilogue for the Halloween anthology. Any news about it? I for one would be excited to get one. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Pro tip for QMs: if you really want to hook players into the story, start it off with a fight. Worked for this quest & the last WBD quest I was on. To me, nothing is worse than 5 pages of forced role-playing at the very beginning of a quest. Quote

Honestly, I find fighting the least attractive thing about this game. I enjoy it, but not as much as character interaction, and while you can get it in fights, often the roleplaying is just "Whatshisnose attacks monster from the back with fury and power." Different strokes, I suppose. Edited March 30, 2015 by Kintobor Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 WBD's was a direct introduction to the story through action. CMP's is a twist. I dig it. Both gave a bit of time for intro role-play. Quote

I don't really think there's a "go to" way to start a quest. I liked how Quest #116 started by going right into a battle, but I also liked how Quest #125 started with a lot of roleplay. It depends on the player and the circumstances I guess. Quote
