It was fun to read, the players kept it moving along nicely and did great. I did not expect it to be QUITE as short as this, but yeah, it's good. More of this for level 1 players.

Basically my thoughts as well. The designated newbie (No offense, S&C and Adam  ) quests are always somewhat simple and straightforward, but they usually give some of the best chances for getting a foundation on roleplaying and getting a grasp of the rules.

Whats a good level for a Level 1 Quest Boss? The quest would have 3 members.

It really depends upon how many other battles you are planning on your PC's encountering prior to the boss, also it depends upon if they will be fighting the boss alone or if it will have minions. I generally have special damages and drops planned for my enemies and then adjust the stats of them according to the situation and how the party is doing and whether I want a particular battle to be challenging, a walk in the park, rewarding, worthless, etc... So yeah there isn't really a formula to go by and I find it's generally not the best to have all your details set in stone.

When you are creating an enemy some things to keep in mind are:

Party's current health

Number of Party members

Party's current combined level

Party's SP

Party's ether levels

Party's inventories

Relevence to the plot of your quest

Risk (defeat) vs. Reward (drops)

It was a fantastic quest, Zepher. Great participation from the questees too. I also was not expecting it to be quite this short, but when we saw the ol' frog himself, I was pretty certain that that was to be the "Boss Battle." Fantastic work on this though. It must be an incredibly welcome relief from the Dastan one.

Also, lovely quest Zepher and a good job to Adam and S&C. I agree that I would have like to have seen a slightly longer quest, maybe one more battle and a puzzle, but that's my own opinion and you are an excellent QM so I know you meant well. I am interested to see how you tie in the new NPC's but am sure that it will be fantastic however you do it.

You have no idea.

All three of them will be returning at some point, though I don't know exactly when or where. I think Russel and Pigley may show up later with Guffington, where they'd make sense, pinky promise. Russel MAY make a brief cameo in the final Wren Quest too, though that's already jam-packed with NPCs (...yes, I already have the entire quest minus stats planned out). Barkley will reappear as well, in a cameo or otherwise I'm not sure yet.

And I'm glad everyone expected it to be longer! That's the fun of it. "The most trivial Quest ever," was my goal with it. Wonder if anyone will ever top it.

BONUS MATERIAL: A potential alternative avatar for Pillus I considered for .2 seconds:

I loved the quest, Zeph. I thought you had a lot of fun with the characters, and gave them distinct personalities.

Short and sweet is fine, I think Sandy would like to see more of these cropping up. As you say, there are plenty of epic quests around so sometimes it's nice to have a change of pace.

I would go on that quest. Please host it.

I love Quest 41. Especially the NPCs, easily my favourite yet.

I really enjoyed the NPCs. I am a sucker for characters, being a QM gives me the ability to play a ridiculous number more. Keeping them different is a challenge, but at this point I have somewhere around 30 unique NPCs that I've played, and I feel they're all different enough, so I'm glad you share my feelings.

TBW, I know you love the Frog Paladins. I'll make sure if I EVER really truly explore them more, Lycan will be there. I really do think High Priest Pylon will crop up at some point. Perhaps a side-quest centered around the Frog Paladins at some point. Poletad will appear in the final Wren quest and at least one of the Guffington Quests, maybe the Big War Quest I have planned will have a Frog Paladins side-quest?

You made my day.

Thank You! My Second Character will have a Frog, and I've already haggled with Siercon and Coral for that lovely staff.

I do want to be on one of your quests because however short it is, it has a great story.

Wow, Zepher. I finally got the chance to read 41. I thought Sir Poletad was my favorite NPC. Now I don't know whether it's him or Pigley. You took stock pieces and gave them such personality.

Know that if you can't find a good home for Lord Barkley, Cronk would love a "puppy".

I can imagine that, and I really want to see it. Cronk trying to give hugs to Barkley, while the latter employs some choice language.

Reminds me of Luc Aragon's famous and deadly wolf, which everybody's favourite Orc preceded to call 'a puppy'.

Good old Luc Aragon. Who knows, we might see him again! But the puppy moment was funny.

I just woke up, so I'm afraid I'm unable to give a full analysis right now (will do later!) but it was a great quest, Capn!

I don't think we'd want to save this princess anyway.

Lycan agrees.

The quest was good, but the final battle was intense. The pictures were good, and so was the chance to have you as my QM again.

Overall/Self Criticism. You all were great. No, perfect. simply perfect.:thumbup: You all were active and fun, I couldn't ask for anything more. I made some mistakes, but not as much as #24. That really was not up to my expectations, and I made mistakes left and right. But this was alot better IMHO. :classic: I'm not sure what us up with the boss battle, you did pretty good. But I do believe I owe an apology to TBW. I made the level exactly the same as his health, so he could never go front row at all if he didn't want to get KO. I'm sorry, :sadnew: I need to pay attention. Anyways, I hope you all buy some good stuff with your gold.

Flare/Benji:

Good job. You were active, and made sure I didn't make any mistakes.

Sorrow/Endgame:You were active, funny, and made lots of weapons! And you made my new desktop background. I want you in on future quests. (Can't really choose the other two.... )

TheBoyWonder/Lycan: Again, sorry for the KO's. You also made weapons, and were really good and active. Good job.

I'll get behind the scenes done sometime. And Endgame, yes, you would've fought the princess.

And Endgame, yes, you would've fought the princess.

...Why? I'm assuming she'd be fairly weak?

overall, a great quest, Capn. Perhaps I'll repay the favor if you ever go on one of my quests. (The current of which has a grand total of one signup! Woah! *huh* )

The photography was crisp, and the freedom provided was awesome.

Damn Fantome...

*huh* And you thought the Fantome was hard?

All will be revealed in Behind the Scenes. TBW, there will be a follow up, but it is against the Croise's, so I can't really choose you.

I'm flattered.

What a great quest, Capn! I might say one of the best parts was Endgame's very detailed and neat drawing. :innocent: I really can't wait for the follow up.

Okay, Quest 31 is over! :classic:

Self-critique:

I felt like the pace was much improved over Q4 and Q17, but I also felt that I might have railroaded you guys too much. Maybe that's just because I was used to the huge amount of freedom I had given the heroes I had previously QMed. There were some things I know you wanted to do that I would've loved to let you do, like improving Drakencourt's defenses, but I couldn't let you or you would've ended up waaaaaay behind the other Dastan quests.

Other Dastan QMs:

You're awesome. We all know that I'm not that great when it comes to storylines and roleplaying, and were it not for Zeph and JimB outlining the intertwined storylines, I'm sure the plot of Q31 would've been a lot simpler. (My style is generally to think up a new mechanic that I wanted to use and build a storyline around it, so if this hadn't been a Dastan quest, you the players would probably have just ended up fighting a lot of the hex map battles.)

Players:

All of you were a pleasure to QM. WBD, you seemed to have everything organized and planned out, especially when it came to the final battle, and I thought you were the perfect Party Leader. John Paul, you did your part, and I think you did a good job almost stepping into Flipz's role when he was unavailable. Dharkan, I do wish you had been a little more active, but I think you definitely got more action this time around, and I hope that you had more fun in this quest than you did in Q17. Flipz, I know there was a lot more you wanted to explore, and, again, I think I railroaded all of you too much, but I think you made the best of what I could allow you to do.

Thanks for questing with me, and thanks to all the players who've participated in my Lion Knight Trilogy. I am probably going to take a break from QMing, while I work on some other things (such as LDD RCB 5). For now, the Lion Knights' story is concluded, and they'll probably appear as supporting characters for at least one of my quests before I decide to host again with them as a main faction. I have a rough outline of what I want to do for my next quest, and I'll probably work on expanding the stories of one of my other factions/groups, such as the Brobric Elves, the Teuthisal, or the Mopags.
