Etzel, would you please post the Quest #49 sidequest in this thread?

Unless it'll pertain to a future Quest of his, what's preventing you from doing so?

I'm eager to see what happened, myself.

I'm eager to see what happened, myself.

Not a lot, ahem, so here it is:

Brace yourselves!

When the heroes parted after the supper, this is what happened to Haldor. You may chose to share information from the night with your quest mates but you don't have to. If you share it, do so with your own words in character in the Quest topic. As you will see when reading through this post, you might not want to tell everything that happened...

When supper was done and the heroes parted Haldor felt very tired and decided to go to bed early. Beds had been put forward in the entry so he made his way over there and put his head on the pillow. Soon the big northman was snoring in his bed.

Next morning Haldor woke up early and found himself very hungry.

"I guess all that traveling we did yesterday and the day before that emptied my reserves. Perhaps I can find some leftovers at the kitchen."

When he got up he saw that Cronk was still fast asleep, but that Alexis bed was empty. Haldor walked through the study and the corridor into the Sanctuary, and was about to enter the corridor to the dining hall when a person called out.

"Hey you! Wha...what are you doing...doing eh... here? You sch-sch-should be aschleep!"

haldorface.png

"Who goes there? I'm just going to the kitchen for a small night snack, that's not forbidden is it?"

8120370614_258bb469b9_t.jpg

"You...you schouldn't talk like that in f-front of an offischer! When I schay you schould be in bed, then you schould go to bed!"

haldorface.png

"Hey now, I don't want any trouble. What about we both go each other's way, I think you could need some sleep as well."

8120370614_258bb469b9_t.jpg

"You impudent schcroundel! I'm gonna teach you a lesschon!"

Out of the dark comes Sir Mandric swinging a bottle in his right hand while trying to get a knife up from his belt with his left at the same time. Haldor has no chance of avoiding the attack and tries to get a hold of the paladin's arms.

"Ge-get off me! You schcum!"

Haldor tries to keep the furious paladin away from him but Sir Mandric fights with great tenacity and manage to get his right arm loose. As he tries to bring down the bottle on Haldor's head, Haldor quickly pulls Sir Mandrics other arm to make the paladin stumble forward and miss his hit. Both men end up on the floor, entangled in what has now become a wrestling. Haldor tries to use the advantage of his bigger and heavier body to overcome sir Mandric and suddenly the paladin stops resisting. Haldor get free from his opponents arms and happen to put his hand in a puddle of some warm and sticky liquid. When he sees the knife in Sir Mandric's throat he realize that it is blood.

"Oh my gods! Now I'm in real trouble! A deal Paladin, right in the middle of Ennoc's sanctuary! Those petulant knights and clerics in the Order will never forgive such thing, I'll end up in the gallows. And what a scandal it would be to Heroica if this came out. A hero killing an innocent man while on a simple courier mission. What am I going to do? Well, no one saw me do it. But what is that? Footsteps?! Quick, back to the entry! If I pretend to sleep I might be able to play this one of."

Haldor quickly sneaks out from the Sanctuary before the owner of the footsteps enter. Back at the entry he gets back into his bed and closes his eyes while trying to figure out a plan for what to do. But he doesn't get much time since priestess Mandrea comes running into the entry just a few minutes later.

"Wake up! Wake up! There has been a murder! Oh my poor brother Mandric has been murdered! Sir Haldor, sir Cronk! Please wake up!"

Haldor gets up and stares at the priestess with disbelief, or at least tries to give that impression. Cronk is looking more honestly shocked.

"Is this true? Cronk is very shocked to hear this. Please, could priestess Mandreat tell Cronk and Haldor in detailed what has happened? Cronk also wonders where friend Alexis is."

Haldor notices that Alexis bed is still empty, where could that elf be?

8083329411_2cf051abe9_t.jpg

"I...I was going to light the morning candles in the sanctuary and say the prayers to the Righteous Light, and...and there he... he..."

The priestess break down and starts crying loudly.

6882536309_34131623d7_t.jpg

"There there, priestess Mandrea. Cronk and friends will help. Let's go to Sanctuary and see situation with own eyes."

Cronk, Haldor and priestess Mandrea walks over to the Sanctuary and discover the body of Sir Mandric.

*To be continued in the quest topic*

IMPORTANT INFO TO HALDOR

You are the real killer. But it is important that you don't get caught since that would destroy the relationship between the Paladin Order and Heroica. It would also effect Haldor's own life quite negative, especially if it involves gallows. It's better to hold a low profile and hope that the traces of the murder never leads to you. If Haldor manage to remain uncaught to the end of the quest, he will be rewarded with 2 levels of experience in addition to the gold promised for the deliverer of the letter. If Haldor is exposed as the murderer he will only be rewarded the gold. Framing another person for the murder might be a possibility, it's only Haldor's own moral that sets the limit.

Thoughts?

Sort of like a mystery game. (in the regular Mafia forum) Nice concept, Etzel.

(No, I don't care about the effects on the player. That's [probably] just roleplaying now. Bah, roleplaying! )

Wowza. I didn't really follow Quest 49 closely (no offence Etzel, as a rule I tend not to follow other Quests too much, as it might affect my player vs. character knowledge), but when you requested that Etzel post this here, I knew it must've been related to it. But did I expect you to do it? No, thats, wow...

Didn't everyone know that? Oops.

Wow. That's really interesting. Like Flitwick, I don't often read a lot into most Quests, but I might have to go back and read that one.

Ha ha ha! I was right! Haldor was acting scummy!

Though I also saw Alexis was acting a little suspiciously as well...I wonder if she was hiding something, too? :look:

Wow, you jerk Haldor. Thanks a lot. :poke: Interesting twist, though I can't say it surprises me.

Nope. Nothing hidden here.

Wait, so did the novice know, and was she thankful? Is that why she's got a thing for him?

Interesting stuff. I actually didn't suspect it. I kind of thought it was Jorke... particularly after his aggressive reaction to being accused, but I reread and saw that he was taken away before really questioned. Very cool.

Can I just say grrrr...

I worked really hard to try to solve that mystery. And you killed the guy? How did that even work, Etzel? Was Haldor chosen randomly from our party?

It'll be interesting roleplay for me if it Cronk ever finds out. Haldor might want to find a good place to hide now just in case.

Any quests soon to be done? I really want to get on another quest...

Masked just posted one, and I'm in the middle of set building and photo taking. Out of curiosity is there anything people would like to see in a quest besides reputation with a certain house?

An awesome shield & armor for Hoke.

A good premise is always appreciated!

Moar locations around Eubric. :sweet: You and Sandy and several others have done a good job with those in past quests, but populating them even more or returning to other places would be really cool.

Aww, no sympathy for the nord? It was an accident, after all. :cry_sad:

Since revisiting previously seen locations in Eubric was mentioned, I decided to update the Eubric map again.

heroica-mapeubric.jpg

Plenty of options for revisits, eh? And many unvisited places as well...

If he'd owned up to it in the beginning, maybe. But I don't think Cronk will look too kindly upon someone who let another being face punishment (and possibly death) for his own crime.

I understand, as a player, the tight spot you were put in but Cronk won't.

But it's minimum level is 15 :,(

What I'd like to see in a quest:

1.) Me

2.) Dishonored i.e you are hired to protect someone, then they get assassinated, and you framed for their murder. You get put in jail but then are freed by an ortherwordly power (a god), who gives you his mark (which gives lets say +3 health, ether and power.) and then opens your cell door. You have to escape, then solve the murder as outlaws.

3.) A witches talisman or paralysation: changes poisoned hits paralysing hits.

4.) a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy quest where you are hired by a publisher to research areas of interest (in which there would be side quests and battles aplenty) whilst being accompanied by a depressed golem.

That's it, thoughts?

Bring back the Glass Blowers Shoppe and the Werehounds, would love to see them again. Also would like to see how Julian's doing.

Agreed. :sweet:
