Quarryman Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 People who have already been on a quest (or are currently on one), keep those quest pitches coming! I myself have ten quests under plans at the moment, but there's only a few potential quest pitches from other people at the moment. Once the quests #4 through #12 are done, there's going to be a lot of quest-hungry heroes out there, and I can't satisfy their hunger alone. So yeah, send me those ideas. I have ideas for several quests, one of which will take the heroes to far-away Fenario, but I need time to sit down and put them together, time that I suspect I won't have until mid-November at the earliest. They will happen though. Quote
Etzel Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I got an idea too, but it will take some time before it's ready, foremost I need to finish the quest I'm in now. I think maybe end of November as earliest but more likely next year Quote
Sisco Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I can safely say that there will be another quest from me involving the Porthiars; but probably not until the end of November/Moving into December. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I had an idea for a Quest, but as I said earlier, I have to get into one first, so mine probably won't be up until mid-November to early December. Here's what I have so far: Quest #_: Hunt in the Grasslands. (Title still under construction.) There is a beast rampaging through the grasslands, eating livestock and people. I need a team of 6 Heroes to help me defeat the beast. At least 1 Barbarian needed, since this will be a tough hunt. All other classes welcome, but you need to be skilled at what you do. The beast has many spawn, and we will have to fight our way through them to find it. (That's the sign-up note) (Here's one of the first battles): Infant Dinosaur Beast (Earth) Health: 10/10 Special:Cry: Calls older Dinosaur Beasts to its aid. Drops: 1 Scale (Imparts the Shield effect on the target for the duration of one battle. That's all I have so far. Just so you know, the Infant Dinosaur Beasts will be made with the Mutant Lizards from Dino Attack/2010. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) I'm curious as to your reference to a shield effect, are you thinking about some variation of the knight's sentinel position? Edited October 26, 2011 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Rumble Strike Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I have been given the rather dubious honour of hosting Quest#13. Nothing can go wrong with that, can it? Just kidding Sandy! The pitch/signups will be up very soon, although I really would like some of the quests to have finished because as far as I can tell, we only have one or two new guys kicking around the Hall at the moment. According to my count the other day there are currently 41 heroes engaged in 7 different quests. There are, however, 72 heroes in Heroica in total, though clearly not all are active. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) I'm curious as to your reference to a shield effect, are you thinking about some variation of the knight's sentinel position? I was thinking of making things like a Scale halve the damage dealt to the target for one battle. If that has already been done, I will find a different property for the Scale. As I said before, this Quest is still under construction, as I just started building the scenery and the beasts. I'm still open to suggestions for it. Please, if anyone thinks that my sign-ups or my beast can be improved in any way, tell me. I'm still a bit new to this, so I need your comments and suggestions if I am to pull this off. Waterbrick Down Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 The shield effect has not techincally been used yet, but it sounds similar to someone having the benifits of standing in the back row, while being able to attack from the front. For monsters, I find it easier to have the drops, special, and type set, while adapting the health and level to the stats of the Party at the time. Quote
Kadabra Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I've got plenty of Quest ideas, though I've only got MoCs and a finalized story for one of them, which I'll pitch soon (hopefully.) Expect tough, elemental monsters, puzzles, riddles, mazes, and very heavily guarded loot, 'cause we're going to Baltorak! Quote
Zepher Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I plan to host another quest later in mid-December. I have a basic idea, and it will certainly have a FEW NPCs returning, so I hope you all like who you've met! Also, by far the best training for hosting a quest is, well, actually hosting a quest. I have found a number of things with my set-up I love and plan to apply even more next time, things in other quests I love, and things I will certainly NOT use next time as well. Quote

What level range is your quest tailored for currently (if you're willing to share). Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I have one quest almost done (just need photos), another being mapped out, and working on an idea for the third. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 What level range is your quest tailored for currently (if you're willing to share). Well, I haven't really looked at level ranges for enemies yet, seeing as I don't know the abilities of signed-up heroes. But I was hoping to get some adventurers in that weren't level 1s. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I have had an inspired idea: Although I am unfamiliar on how these dueling quests work, it is my understanding that a standard was set and people would come in and oversee players fighting these games yes? Well, along those lines and a second problem, that I as a higher level player am aware: There are going to be new players who will be of low level, whether new sign-ups or those who just don't quest very often/haven't had the time to quest. I have been formulating a training quest, where level 1 heroes in a group of six can go and fight some monsters, the stalwarts of training levels like rats and bats plus a few that I made up for fun with my little brother. New players can get used to questing without bugging the more experienced players, they will level up and be able to accompany their higher level peers and someone who wants to try their hand at hosting can take the group out in a pre-built quest. I want to build and host it first, then host the pictures in my gallery so when another 6 newbies are ready I or another can host them a quest. Just like the many MMORPGS out there on the 'net. It won't even need much stat tweaking as they will follow the training path from level 1. Railroading is annoying but they are learning from a "seasoned hero" in a controlled environment. Drops would be minimal but enough gold or weapons can be accumalted to get at least an upgrade. Thoughts? Quote

Thoughts? So it's just like a quest without the story part? I'm not totally against the idea, but why not make a quest out of it with just a little more effort? I don't understand why such training would be limited to new players only - other than to "learn the ropes", of course, but that can be done during a quest as well. I think many players would love an opportunity to level up easily, and a level-up is always a level-up, whether it's from level 1 to 2 or from level 31 to 32. Let's face it - there's always going to be players who are on different levels, and as the game goes on, the gap between level 1 and the highest level will only grow. So I don't think we need specific training, we just need to have quests geared for different levels of players. So Peppy, if you want (and if I haven't totally misunderstood your idea), you can create a "training quest" that can be light on the story and consists only of battles? It can then be repeated ad nauseum with a new batch of players, of course. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Well, it was just an idea... Not light on story per-se, just instead of being this loooong quest its quick and fun. Really I just had the idea after seeing all the little variations on a monster I created that my brother had built. As it is, I just figured an awesome idea for a quest that won't repeat that can be for low levels and will be nice and fun and use all the little creatures Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I was thinking of maybe a quest for four players, experienced players. Make them go to a far fling land where there is a deadly plague. This idea is really rough, thoughts? Quote

Fred Daniel Yam Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Hazmat Suit. Yeah totally! A wooden Hazmat Suit Quote
CMP Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Yeah totally! A wooden Hazmat Suit Hey, now. Zephyr's using elevators already... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Yeah totally! A wooden Hazmat Suit Leather and rubber, duh. Quote
Zepher Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Hey, now. Zephyr's using elevators already... Had it in Roman times, generally this sort of fantasy takes place after that time period! They still have cranks! People are using recorded music I've decided, so maybe I am messing up the time line. Though with mages in the mix you can explain away most things with magic! Quote
