Could someone do me a favor? I'm in need of three Wolfgang members for a random encounter for A Secret Under Eubric and was wondering if someone was able to cook some up for me? The only thing they need is one with a sword, one with a bow/crossbow, and one with an axe. As well, I'd prefer for them to have different faces. They don't need to be edited, so long as they're well lit and can be easily turned into icons. If anyone could it would be really appreciated!

Oh man, I think something exactly like that was used in a quest some time or another... I'm trying hard to recall which it was, but you might want to look into Quests 6 and 23 (Sandy's first WANTED quest and Scuba's first quest, respectively). I'm sure they wouldn't mind you borrowing a few common thug NPCs.

Okay, here is the rest of my analysis... if anything comes up (or if there is anything else I want to comment on down the line) I'll put it up.

I'll admit, I'm still confused about what happened in the forest...

Rally Battle:

Almost a demo of the Manor battle, really - a dwarf concept of the Continuous Battle. I wanted to encourage snarking with NPCs by allowing you to lure The Bleeding out of hiding early, so RP played off here.

Snarking at him was quite fun... Then we slaughtered him.... That was also fun.

Rhodus Battle:

This one was fun - I got to take my first boss battle and up the ante. I did get a bit too mean near the end, though... kudos for spotting my bold period.

I really liked the Rhodus battle. It offered an interesting challenge, and the torture session was hella fun. I liked your 'mechanic' so much that I tried to duplicate it in my Maze puzzle... and sorta failed.

Medbay Battle:

Straight up battle, no minion joining nonsense! Galen meets his love interest here, making it so much more interesting... Never saw that one coming. Got to show off some specialized Proggs here.

I thought this was one of the better battles strategy wise. All of the proggs were fun and quirky, and Galice happened then, which was hilarious. I'd be interested to see how all that plays out.

Ballroom Battle:

Medbay battle cranked up even more. The Wound was interesting to RP for, especially with Sylph being heartless and taunting him on his abuse... normally, the roles are reversed, with the taunter being the villain. Sylph's dark side begins to shine here, and only grows more and more apparent as time goes on.

Ha! Yeah.  Rubbing Salt into the Wound was fun. He won't admit it, but Sylph does like playing with mice while holding their tails.... But something stops him usually.

Aquos:

RP and battle were really well intertwined here, thanks to you guys. The tentacle shuffling mechanic was tough on the QM end, but I think it paid off. All the RPIng I saw from everybody, before and after the battle, was a real treat. I'm glad Lycan revealed his real name after this one -it was well timed.

This was my favorite battle. I love a tragic villain, if you couldn't tell from Fleur (sorta. She's also pretty deluded and more obsessed than anything.)

Sylph's interaction with Aquos was really fun too. Sylph was conflicted between his quest to rid nature of such abominations (read: Hatred) and his fear that he was allowing himself to feel undeserved animosity towards such creatures. Is he fighting unsympathetic aberrants, or are they creatures of nature that deserve cleaner deaths? (Not to say he wouldn't kill them if they're natural. He'd just 'feel bad' about it. )

Manor Battle:

NEVER AGAIN.

If it had been a continuous battle we'd have gained more XP.

Also, you missed the Forest Battle. I felt quite experienced after that one.

Eidolon Battle:

A bloody fight to the death! The freefall twist was one of my favorites.

As calm and collected as I seemed throughout that battle, the free-fall scared me shitless.

The True Final Battle (VS Regret):

Essentially a combination of the first battle and the oozeling battle... seeing Romulus give in was definitely an interesting choice for your character, TBW, and I can't wait to see it come to fruition.

The True Final Battle (VS Perfect Regret):

I figured I let you guys beat me up for the grand finale. Some of the RP here was great, and the interaction between Sylph and Regret was top-notch. It was an experiment, but I think it worked well - combined with my favorite boss build, this battle was probably my favorite out of them all in 48.

I was also interested that Rome betrayed us. Someone had to. I think it fit his character. Most of the Party has dead loved ones (except Sylph  ) but only Rome, I think, could have betrayed us all like that. (Except, maybe Galen if the situation had been different)

I had hoped to be as heartless to him as I had been with the wound, but by then my character was behaving a littledifferently. And fighting you was rather cathartic, although at times I thought you were pulling punches.

Sylph/Dannylonglegs:  Sylph was a wonderful party leader, and your strategy pulled you guys out of plenty of rough spots. You're one of the best strategists in Heroica, and your RP was as good. Sylph mostly appeared pragmatic beforehand, but some of his darker shades came out during this quest... seeing him slowly unravel into what he truly is was amazing, and I can't wait to see Sylph progress. He shot up to one of my favorite characters to observe in all of Heroica over the course of this quest. I truly wish some of the interactions between the druid and The Regret could be posted, but alas... You were very active as well, to boot.

You flatter me.

Yes, Sylph has always been rather Pragmatic as a defining trait, but when faced with committing genocide against beings-not-from-this-world, a bit of his truer nature slipped forth. Thanks. I'll be frank, I'm excited to have him progress as well. As I mentioned earlier, talking with you and revealing a bit of his darker side really helped me flesh him out more as a character, and gave me some good insight into how he thought.

And yes, I was very active... I can stop whenever I want to.

Galen/Fugazi: And the hero with the most unlikely love interest goes to... Galen was good to see grow throughout the quest, and your RP was great as well. Galen, in my mind, seems to have quite a bit of cowardice bottled up inside of him... but his determination keeps him pushing forward, even when fighting some of his deadliest foes yet. His motivation to find Brianna seems real, and I hope to see his search conclude in one way or another. :sweet: Thanks for pariticipating and being active over all of these months.

Galen was great! I liked his character, and it was good to have another Raider on the crew. I personally was worried you'd join the Regret in that final battle, but I was glad that you didn't (I mean honestly, you'd have devastated us.)

And also, Galice FTW. :wub::sick:

I'm also interested to see Alex's character develop, and I'm interested to see where Lycan/Rome'll go from here...

Quest #63 - no offense MB, but to me it felt a bit anticlimatic  Lets just say that nothing really was explained, and well I dunno, to me it felt anticlimatic.

That was a fun Quest, Masked. :sweet: I haven't been on a short 'n' sweet Quest since 11, so it was nice to get away from the giant ones like 30, 40, and 53 for a while. They're awesome too, but 63 is a great example of how a small one can still be enjoyable. We had an awesome party - it's always fun to quest with Ellaria, and I've been meaning to try and get Heroica's most badass Rogues together for a while. It was an interesting dynamic. We all got along fairly well, and we decimated our enemies, but I get the feeling that without a Quest to focus on, things would've slipped a bit, which just goes to show that even reasonable heroes don't all get along perfectly.

Like Flare said, the only thing that was missing was a little dialog from Marc - Atramor might've wanted to deal with the situation without question - but I was kind of looking forward to seeing what kind of reasoning there was behind his madness...though if he's just insane as Altair thinks, I understand, but maniacal laughter might've shed some light on that. The alchemists could've been fleshed out some more too.

The setting was fun until we stripped it all down...you made us all paranoid us hell with those statues, though. The chest puzzle was pretty neat - I kind of like puzzles with a bit of risk, like Zepher's '10 coins for every wrong answer' riddle in Quest 30 - and I just loved the basement battle. Giant rats are a dime a dozen in a fantasy setting, but I liked their build, and I never thought I'd get to kill a Mynock.

As for battle balance, you did really well considering you had a Druid and Guts. The Ethereal enemies threw us all off. Maybe some AoE specials would've hindered Guts just a little more, and some more variation would've been cool...say, an Undead leader to each team of spirits, or something.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I like these little Quests that kind of flesh out the world some more.

I think this monologue sums it up pretty nicely.

But I felt the same. Other than that, the Quest was great fun to watch, and the player interactions were excellent! I also loved the pictures!

Would have loved an explanation (or, a line or two, maybe) from Marc the Mad, but it was a choice to not give him one, and I'll respect it.

The appearance of Altiar too... seemed strange, but I guess you wanted to offer a reputation choice? I also don't understand why you needed four alchemists. Couldn't they have just protected one? Why did it have to be those three targets? I would have loved to see more (or anything) out of them and John. Maybe its just me, but if you fill what could be one person's role with three people, they should be an interesting three people - or, just make it one if there's no reason for their to be three.

The battles seemed easier, but as others have said, you had Ellaria, Guts and Atramor. That's tough to balance for. I also know you didn't think you'd have four alchemists, but clearly that made them much easier.

Great pictures, nice length, as I said, not challenging battles, but certainly interesting ones. Nice amount of loot in comparison to quest length/challenge (see how little I give out that note!). Good job over all, develop those NPCs more next time, and I'm sure we'd love to see more out of you!!

Thank you very much for hosting, Masked, I think it was a very fun quest.

The best part for me was when we just got in the house, with nothing really happening, just exploring the house, that gave off a real sense of paranoia, added to by the strange statues. I parrot others in saying that Marc could have used some more exposition, his reasoning, but perhaps we'll see him again, who knows? I do like that you gave us a choice, in the form of Altair. The length was good, I like shorter quests. I also like the party you picked, Atramor and Ellaria are both characters that would neither be rivals or friends for Guts, but are interesting to interact with anyways. The pictures were also cool.

I definitely think the battles were too easy, the ethereal enemies made it interesting, but we were never in any danger, which seems like a shame. The rats you made up were a very cool build, as well. Perhaps there was a bit too much loot, but I won't complain about it. Shame we didn't get to take the consumables the alchemists made. Also, they stole my grand potions and remedies, even though Guts clearly stated he wanted the unused ones back. :cry_sad: (also, we forgot to take the WP: 6 Halberd, I think) I must say the puzzle also seemed a bit underdeveloped. Perhaps you could have made it a bit more like the boardgame Mastermind, does that make sense? It's nice there was a puzzle though.

It was very interesting seeing alchemists in actions, the four we had, whipped up a lot of mixtures, if we had used more, the battles would have been over quicker, but we could have seen the true might of the alchemists. Masked, perhaps next time the alchemists could have a non-combat role? And I don't think John actually served a real purpose besides strenghtening the party, I was half expecting him to betray us the whole time.

Overall I really liked it and had fun!

I can whip some up for you if you like, what kind of background were you thinking of?

Someone already suggested something similar to that to me, actually.

Docken, I feel I have to tell you that three people have PM'd me with suggestions on how to overcome your armor. They don't all fit in to this quest, but I've heard that you may be in for Guffington III as well.

Boil - The target is boiled in his or her armor, taking damage equal to the amount of SP they have, ignoring SP.

Can we make a scroll for that? I need a scroll with that effect.

That's okay, people do that in public in Rules and Discussion all the time, too.

The approach already taken by Sandy seemed pretty fair, though; just kept throwing enemies at me until eventually the Aura KO'd me.

Not anymore now that you have the Mail of Renegade Commander...going to have to get creative.

It could still be done... it probably just wouldn't be fair to the rest of the party since it'd have to be not only a bunch of enemies, but a bunch of high-Level enemies. (Or we could have another Creeper massacre, that's fine with me. )

Does anyone have a tablescrap Bonaparte bombardier figure lying around? He should be a Bonaparte flavored fig that wields a hand-cannon. I was planning on using a photoshop-made one, but if someone has a physical fig, I'd prefer to use that. It doesn't matter what he looks like, but I imagine the character as a slightly-obnoxious rule-following type who's seen less actual action than any of the Fortune's Mistress' other crew. :sweet:

Nevermind: Paint and Powerpoint! (head body and cannon all from different sources.)

Yeah, and I had meant to have some, I just lost track of that between all of the time I spent calculating battle results. And I agree, I'm thinking of doing another quest with one or two of them, they're great characters!

Don't worry, those only would have attacked you if you smashed the chest. :poke:

Thanks! I really am a builder at heart. :sweet: Yeah balance was hard, let alone rolling for all of you.

Well, battles with you guys were tough. I never did get one round right. Even the one Flipz ran for me was wrong. Never again will I host that many. (If you didn't guess it already, I didn't plan for the alchemists to battle with you.) Oh and I fixed the consumables for you, not like you need them.

Otherwise, there were a lot of references in the quest. Most of them very subtle.

John - Named after Master Chief from Halo. (Love those games)

Madness of Marc - March Madness

Mynocks - Star Wars

ROUSs - Princess Bride

That's all I've got. It's been a while since I've hosted, I need to get in a nice grove here. My next quest will be a bit long, and part of a story arc too. Well at least if I want to do that story now. I'm likin' the alchemists.

Maybe they're subtle or obscure references if you ask the average person, but not on this forum, I think.
