Shoker86 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 There should be a Pirate's confederacy. But it'll be just Sarge until either Arnulf or Atramor are willing to join... Sarge should get ship first. Pirate without ship ain't pirate. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 By the way, in the realm of the realistic, if I have to pick one of the seven factions (Eight? I don't know if the Town Watch is an option.) , I'll probably be picking the Bonapartes. They seem like the closest to a Lawful faction least likely to make a decision I strongly disagree with, with the manpower to enforce their decisions. Only faction I have reputation with is the Ziegfrieds, and they seem too Chaotic. That's not necessarily roleplaying, by the way, even if I do see Docken as Lawful Good. Docken is concerned with stats and wants Heroica to continue to exist and based out of a stable city so they can continue to be hired by other factions, which means winning a war if there is one, restoring order, maintaining the trust of the citizens, and enforcing the laws through a strong government. From what we've seen, the Bonapartes seem in the best position to do that. Quote

Sandy Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 'cept they had to hire heroica to take care of the Jolly Roger Actually, they hired Heroica to do the infiltration job to Jolly Roger's base while the fleet was engaged in a naval battle with the pirates. Quote
Kintobor Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) I had an idea for an artefact and was wondering what people thought of it: Zap Tap Badge- (Artefact, Accessory) Has a 1/2 chance to deal electric damage to an opponent who has dealt damage to a hero, equal to the heroes level. It's a nice concept - rather like a changed pair of counterstrike gloves. You would need to specify how much damage it deals, however. EDIT: Ah, I see that I've been snaked yet again! Seems a bit too complicated for me, why add another die roll to calculations when Counterstrike Gloves can do the same 100% of the time and without the added complication with elemental type match-ups? Quote
Flipz Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I think it'd be fine just as a Lightning-elemental Counterstrike, personally--no need to add the die roll. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I thought counterstrike gloves only dealt damage in response to a free hit. It sounds like these would have a 50% chance every time the hero took damage from an opponent. Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 So, uh... how exactly does one go about pitching a quest again? :P Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 So, uh... how exactly does one go about pitching a quest again? :P PM Sandy with the concept. (You might need to have examples of your builds to show; I never did that but I think some other QMs did.) Quote

Brickdoctor Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Interesting...in that case, I think a 1/2 chance is more than fair. Definitely. Otherwise the artifact becomes more powerful and work in more situations than Counterstrike Gloves and the Counter that some classes already have. Quote
Kintobor Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Definitely. Otherwise the artifact becomes more powerful and work in more situations than Counterstrike Gloves and the Counter that some classes already have. That was the idea. It's not exactly like the counterstrike gloves, and it's not meant to be an alternative. The 50/50 chance was added so the artefact wouldn't be OP, and the electric damage was added to make it effective in some, but not all scenarios. Quote
Endgame Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Pfft, everyone knows Spike Shield was the best badge in the game Looks good to me! Quote
Flipz Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Pfft, everyone knows Spike Shield was the best badge in the game But Chugga used Zap-Tap. No joke, I've seriously gone through and tried to figure out ways to incorporate all the Badges from Paper Mario that Chuggaaconroy used (I'm still in Chapter 1 of his LP of TTYD), and so far Zap-Tap is the only one that both works in Heroica mechanics AND isn't a complete waste of time (i.e. a specific increase to Power or HP or something). Quick Change MIGHT be another one (allows Evokers to switch their summoned Spirit in battle at the cost of X Ether?), but that's the only one I can really think of that isn't better-handled by an existing Artifact (Peekaboo Bade) or mechanic. Endgame Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Return Postage would work in Heroica, but it'd be very powerful. Other considerations: Piercing Blow Badge: Allows physical attacks to defy SP. Charge up: Every turn you don't attack gives you a +4 power boost. Baahammer (Baa Emblem?): All attacks have a 1/6 chance of inducing sleep. Power Rush Emblem: Wearer is Enocuraged when they have 1/4 HP or under (rounded up) Close Call Emblem: Functions like the Catsuit, but only when the wearer has 1/4 HP or under (rounded up) Quote

Piercing Blow: OP. Straight-up OP, SP piercing should NEVER be in an Artifact, period. Charge up: I like this one, good for Minstrels, Clerics, and Scroll Mages. Baahammer: Slightly OP, but eh, Sleep is underutilized anyway. Also, I never knew about this one, Chuggaaconroy never used or mentioned it. Power Rush: Interesting...though I think it'd be better to operate on a specific multiplier, rather than using Encouraged. (I also prefer a 1.5x multiplier to a 2x multiplier for some reason. Close Call: I don't like this one. Can't put my finger on why, but I just don't. Which is why they'd be something of a rarity, if I was to ever make em' - boss drops, most likely. Even better--just use my "You want it? You fight it." mantra for cool items. Quote
