Endgame Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Considering that some swords have SP-denial built in, an artifact (and artifact slots are a luxury!) shouldn't be too OP. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Even better--just use my "You want it? You fight it." mantra for cool items. I tried to follow that mantra with Fleur, but it didn't quite work out the way I intended... (Luck for the necklace, counter-striking for the daggers, encouraged to be a threat+her minions=stupid-hard fight.) I agree! Charge-up would be deliciously useful for Scroll-Clerics. Even more-so than for scroll-mages.. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited June 5, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Flipz Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Considering that some swords have SP-denial built in, an artifact (and artifact slots are a luxury!) shouldn't be too OP. I disagree. Imagine Lifestealer or Conspirator with Piercing Blow equipped. Ouch. The thing with the few SP-piercing swords out there is 1.) they're rare, and 2.) they have to be upgraded separately from other weapons. With an Artifact, you can slap it on on top of powerful and/or Effect-dealing weapons, creating something of a nightmare for QMs. Yes, Artifact slots can be at a premium, but they aren't NEARLY as limiting as weapon-bound abilities--which is a GOOD thing for averting Power Creep. Flare Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 If artifacts are OP, then perhaps making them take up two slots could be an option - or maybe that really wouldn't be fair, but an OP item isn't fair in any case. Quote

Players don't complain about being able to be Lucky all the time--the tables shift substantially when the enemy is Lucky. Similarly, the worse something is when on an enemy, the exponentially nastier it'll get if you put it on a player. Edited June 5, 2013 by Flipz Quote

Yeah, an SP-piercing artifact works with all weapons, so you're free to switch them or sell them or pick up new ones depending on the circumstances. It's more powerful, just like the Quiver of Poisoning is more powerful than a permanently Poisoned weapon. Quote

On most enemies, poisoning does little to no effect, while depending on them enemy, SP piercing can be extremelu useful. Quote

No, that's not my point; my point is that an artifact that grants an effect is more powerful than a weapon that grants the effect. Even if a Poisoning artifact doesn't make much of a difference, it's still more powerful than one weapon that's permanently poisoned. Quote

Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Speaking of minifigs, I'm planning an epic quest. Here's a preview of some minifigs you'll encounter. And: Quote
Palathadric Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I feel silly saying this, but I recognize very few of those faces. Awesome though! Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) Cool figures Cpt! Edited June 6, 2013 by Pyrovisionary Quote
Flare Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Neat! Where will this quest be taking place, Rome? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Well, if you compare features on the map of Olegaia to those of earth, the continent with the Abra Desert looks just like Africa, the continent with Dastan is the right shape and position of Europe, the High Kingdoms, Low Kingdoms, and Mistaria are somewhat shaped like North and South America, the Free Islands are in the Caribbean, and Värtland is Greenland. So that would put Rome just east of Charis, which fits with the fact that Charisian culture is based on that of France. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Actually, I never planned it to be anywhere near Charis. The Western land of Fenario sounds very Italian to me. But it is a bit North. Anyways, I also have a knew set built of an old city street. It has technic holes and pins so you can constantly add to it. Quote

Shoker86 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 The gladiator's subquest would be awsome. Colloseum, heroes fight for factions. Fights to beat time, lion fights, recreations of historical quest fights I love the roman outfits CJP Quote
Endgame Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Isn't the leader of the Croises Caesar...? Where is Brutus when you need him?! Quote

Mistaria is perhaps South American, but the Low and High Kingdoms are very obviously European, along with Charis. Dastan reminds me more than anything of a perversion of Russia culture. The Free Islands are also clearly European. The map doesn't really (and in my mind, shouldn't) exactly mimic the real world! A wizard did it. It doesn't seem very kind to simply throw out Quarryman's back story. He's already said that all he people of that land are similar to Nammyra. Saying that Nammyra only looks the way she does because a Wizard Did It doesn't seem particularly fair. Besides, Fenerio was added specifically because Quarryman asked it to be, and made it up. Quote

I was just pointing out that looking at the shape of the continents, it looks like that's where Rome should be, if there was a Rome in this universe. (Which there shouldn't be.) The culture part was my realization when saying that Charis was close to Rome that Charis is around France, comparing the geography of those four central continents to earth. Quote

To me, I got something of a combination between ancient Rome and "Manifest Destiny"-era Texas, with a side of colonial India thrown in for good measure. Quote
Zepher Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Then perhaps you don't know much about Russian culture. It's a pretty major perversion, I'll admit it, though there are some obvious nods. I can actually totally see Ancient Rome traits too, and absolutely Manifest Destiny, though that one less so. I'd still say that Russia was (my) strongest influence when developing the culture and architecture, though I don't have the most perfect understanding of their culture, and there were two other people who had a major say in it. Flare Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Fenarians live in Fenario - they look like Namyrra. No, they're not some sort of wizard's creation, they're a race Quote
