Palathadric Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Pretzel: I thought you and Sylph wouldn't get along as well, but I guess I was wrong. You and he ended up agreeing on more things than not, which I thought was kind of funny considering how dark a character Sylph is, compared to how "good" a character Pretzel thinks he is. It just goes to show that Clerics are Clerics, no matter which deity they worship. Yeah, I was pretty surprised myself. I guess Erdathcath helped Pretzel see the good in Druids or something. CMP, why did she want a knight in the party? Quote
CMP Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 CMP, why did she want a knight in the party? Diplomacy. Quote
Palathadric Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Was there any situation where Diplomacy was critical? Quote
CMP Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Was there any situation where Diplomacy was critical? No, it was just easier for you to deal with the NPCs with it. Quote
Palathadric Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I have to say, I don't think Pretzel was extremely diplomatic. In fact, everyone else, besides Nessa was probably more diplomatic than he was. Quote
JimBee Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 @ The most recent UQers: Thanks again for playing, just wanted to say it was fun to host you, and I apologize for the many delays over the months. It seems real life just gets in the way too much to host (let alone be on EB at all) sometimes. I appreciate your continued patience throughout! Quote
Duvors Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 O.K., a quest lasts two months usually, so if we wrap up 77 soon I might have time for a shortie before December. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 CMP, thanks for great quest, short, sweet, challenging, fun! I really have nothing that I can think of that I can pick on... Although I should ask the question I always ask, did we miss anything? Quote
-obelix- Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 CMP, thanks for great quest, short, sweet, challenging, fun! I really have nothing that I can think of that I can pick on... Although I should ask the question I always ask, did we miss anything? Absolutely agree with Scuba, great quest CMP! Short, sweet and very fun! The question I was also wondering what did we miss? What if we let that purple thing live and/or regenerate the Doctor? Quote
Etzel Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I agree with the rest of the team, great job CMP! I had fun playing and I liked in particular the NPCs and the battles, but the highlight of the quest was of course the special effects! Quote
JimBee Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 And that makes four of us, well done Pie! I loved the quest and the interactions between the four PCs. We really need more of these "short and sweet" quests. Quote
CMP Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks. Yeah, it was about as long as I expected. I actually planned for it to be this short this time. I'm glad you all had fun. The question I was also wondering what did we miss? What if we let that purple thing live and/or regenerate the Doctor? If Guts hadn't chased off Nuitan you could've gotten Shadeuax reputation by protecting him like Rian. And if you hadn't attacked the Plague Doctor he would've just left. If you put his mask back on he actually would've survived, but you probably would've just killed him again. I loved the interaction here. Guts pretty much flipping off anyone who annoyed him, Hybros quietly voicing his (usually pretty unique) opinion, Maurice doing his Paladin thing and injecting some common sense into conversations, Thalion trying to keep everyone from killing eachother... I'll get the epilogue up in a bit. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 If Guts hadn't chased off Nuitan you could've gotten Shadeuax reputation by protecting him like Rian. That's what you get, for doing the right thing. Quote
CMP Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 That's what you get, for doing the right thing. Guts gives and he gives and he gives, and what does he get? Quote
Flipz Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 That's what you get, for doing the right thing. Guts gives and he gives and he gives, and what does he get? Whole bunch of nothin'! Way of the world. That thing called "common decency", in which people are supposed to repay kindness with kindness? It's a myth, just like karma. Doesn't exist. At all. Trust me. Myth F*cking Busted. What's that? Oh, noo, I have no experience with that whatsoever.[/obvioussarcasm] Heroica's generally pretty good at demonstrating this lesson, but we players tend to be abnormally obtuse about accepting it. PsyKater Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Sandy, those pictures and sceneries and NPCs are phenomenomenal! I can't stop looking at the pictures. Just great. Amma really has to get on a Marketplace quest.... (not just because of the pictures...) Quote
Endgame Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Showdown on Memory Lane Boss Rush Obsessive compulsions ove rboss ights aside, I have been drafting a boss rush. Without spoiling the story details as for why this is going on in the first place, the concept would revolve around going into a cave and being tasked with smashing up the minerals inside: Memory Crystals. (Name still a WIP.) Memory Crystals are odd minerals, rivalling even Mythril in beauty - but also collecting the memories of whoever touches them, sometimes releasing them violently. Before they can smash the crystal and take its fragments, the heroes must first trigger the memories within, thrusting the party into remixed boss battles. Examples would include the Alpha Direwolf, Crozen Resurrected, the Caustic Wyvern, The Despair, etc. Crystals, when smashed, can be traded in for gold when you exit (whether victorious or violently) or items. The quest would appear periodically, requesting 4 to 6 heroes of level 15 or up. When chosen, they have to choose their tier: Advanced, Expert, Veteran, or Master. Advanced: The easiest tier, but a test of mettle nonetheless. Level 20 or higher is reccomended. Expert: Ups the ante and increases the challenge - the weak-hearted won't survive. The memories get even more brutal then before. Level 30 or higher reccomended. Veteran: A challenge worthy of the veterans of old - relive some of the most spectacular battles Heroica has faced. Level 40 or higher reccomended. *LOCKED: Expert Tier must be cleared before this one can be accessed.* Master: The ultimate challenge! Only the finest of heroes even stand a chance of surviving a single battle at this depth - every encounter is an onslaught. Level 50 reccomended. *LOCKED: Veteran Tier must be cleared and a monumental foe must be slain before this tier can be accessed.* Crystal size, worth, and difficulty scales upwards for every tier: This will not be an easy area. it will be a true test, forcing you to take risks and fight some of the toughest battles of Heroica remixed and made tougher. Being slain in battle banishes you back to the cave's entry, losing a third of the shards you had collected. Only one tier can be cleared at a time: when cleared, that party exits the cave victorious. The Cave: "Memory Lane" You will enter the cave with an actual time limit place don you (Approximately about 35 turns.) Clearing battles and paying off shady merhcants that appear in the foyers will be able to extend your time limit. When the clock hits zero, the party is forced off before they can no longer tell memory from reality. Blue Rooms: Crystal Chambers: Crystal chambers contain Memory Crystals, and cannot be exitted when entered - until the crystal is smashed. When activated, the party is thrust into a boss fight. The D5, D10, etc. represent depth: the higher the depth, the higher the difficulty. The higher the difficulty, the higher the rewards! The party will be provided with a map of the tier they chose so they may better strategize. Red Rooms: Foyers: These chambers contain one form of a merchant or the other. Some can be paid to reveal what lies inside crystals, others can sell you overpriced consumables, some can allow you to skip a depth entirely for a massive fee, etc. There is a Tier Boss at the end of every Tier. The toughest enemy of their territory, these fellows are tue Endgame bosses. Secret Tier Bosses can be revealed via taking certain paths, revealing a route to a harder - but tougher and more profitable - finale. Quote
The Legonater Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The actual plot is nothing alike, but that cave layout looks creepily similar to the layout for the quest I've been planning. Quote
