Transformers Movie information revealed

That's Blackout.

While on subject of movie designs, I came across this today:

It's not complete, just the torso, but looking at it it varies significantly from early designs, which the above of Blackout is, as you can tell from it's placeholder name. Bumblebee now shows signs of car wheels, whiche were not on earlier designs.

Also, to compare movie version to toy version, here's a proto of the Blackout toy:

I think Optimus is the only thing I've seen that's not bad or unsatisfying. They were always gonna be changed for the movie audience, although I'm not sure I expected this way. I don't mind the flames, although they look a bit odd.

I wonder, though, how will the toys be able to transform when they look like this... will the film Transformers have non-transforming toys? Are there any more questions I can copy from AICN?

As i am a die hard TF fan and have watched and read most comics featuring the TF's i can honestly say that i believe that the designs of these characters has gone way to far. I do agree that every few years the designs must be freshed up but for me this is way to far esp for megatron.

To this, I can agree that the old Optimus looks very cool. But his new form is better than the others who've been converted. I reckon if you'd never seen the old type, you'd think the new ones were really cool and the old ones really old fashioned.

Leader is class - for example, leader class in current Cybertron line consists of Prime, Megatron and Metroplex.

Yep. Don Murphy's repeatedly said "the old Transformers are silly and don't work in the real world".

So, they gave them all collapsing drinking cup properties.

Really, I think Optimus looks ok, but for the most part, noone looks like anyone anywhere with the rest of the characters.

If I'd never seen G1, I wouldn't give a crap. It'd be another crappy, badly written American movie that I wouldn't pay money to see, but with a cool looking action figure line

It's just a double whammy that I DID watch G1 and they called this Transformers. That the producers DID try to dupe fans into believing the feedback they asked for 2 years ago would go somewhere.

One ray of hope... he has a scriptwriter on his site occasionally answering fan questions.

According to him, the initial script leaked has had many changes... and is still being written now.

I'm going to dl this first. If I like it, I'll go see the movie... TWICE. X-D

In his traditional Sunday post the ever cordial Don Murphy has revealed that the head of Megatron from the forthcoming Transformers Movie, will not look like it did in the leaked concept images, and he credits us with making it happen!

I CAN tell you that Megs' head will not look like he did in the leaked pics. This was done solely because of the leader of Seibertron.com's delicate work on the process. He is so revered throughout fandom, Hollywood and the world that we decided to make the change. It was NOT because we were trying to make the fans happy. NO SIREE.

However you read his rather sarcastic post it does appear the changes were made for the sake of the fans, and possibly due to the largely negative fan reaction over the leaked Megatron images we saw a couple of months back.

I freaking LOVE it.

In a nutshell, after he'd pissed all over the fans he was talking to, as well as starting crap with the owner of seibertron, I'm guessing someone higher up than him came swooping in, to make him do something to keep the peace and bring back some of the disenfranchised fans.

An amazing thing is, on Transformer sites, the admins and mods are like "DON'T bash Don Murphy! Leave your anger and past experiences and critiques of his past (crappy) movies at the door!" ...but unfortunately DON doesn't do that.

You can leave past experiences with Don at the door, but he acts like this on a daily basis.

Here, he had good news to deliver to the fans, but instead is STILL taking sarcastic pot-shots at people.

It's too bad this isn't a G1 movie, and all the G1 fans seem to be forgetting that. It's not a remake of the G1 movie, it's not a remake of the G1 TV show or comic book. Like modern day Transformers series, the only thing it shares with G1 is the 'Transformers' name and transforming robots concept, and some character names. If we go with the Transformers multi-verse thing, this'd be a whole new TF universe we'd never encountered before.

They G1 robot designs -are- silly and wouldn't work in the real world. Especially that whole 'mass-shifting' thing. It's a live-action movie. If you were expecting G1 CGI models and G1 transformation schemes, you're just as silly as those old-school designs.

As for the changing of Megatron's head, I still say bah. Now he'll look too much like all the other Megatrons out there, and they're all friggin' boring. It was time for something new, and still is. As for some higher up guy swooping in and changing things, you do realize it was just a concept sketch we all saw. And it wasn't ever confirmed. Heck, even confirmed designs in other movies get changed.

Who says it was fan complaints that got them to change the design? Could it be you were all just complaining about an unfinished product? *gasp*

While I agree that Don Murphy's an idiot when it comes to PR (much like GregF seems to be sometimes), the Geewunner complaints aren't any better.
