UltraPrime Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Seriously, WHO is Don Murphy ?I was watching the extensive Cast and Crew of the movie on IMDB and he is nowhere to be seen !! Not in the 7 producers (what the hell is Steven Spielberg doing here anyway ?), or in the writing credits |-/ *yoda* He's executive producer. Past credits include Natural Born Killers, League of Extrodinary Geltlemen and first two X-Men films. Quote
Jipay Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 It's good fortune he was "only" producer then. Seriously, no producer should ever get involved into replying to criticisms on blogs over the internet. Especially in such a bad way. There are communication departement for this :-| Quote

Past credits include Natural Born Killers, League of Extrodinary Geltlemen and first two X-Men films. WEIRD, he is not listed on IMDB as part of the 4 executive producers |-/ An executive producers talking like that to fan should be ashamed of himself !! Just for his action, I hope the movie fails BIG TIME !! *yoda* Quote
Jipay Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 but it won't, we've been waiting for a robot movie for ages. Quote
UltraPrime Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 IMDB has loads of mistakes ;-) He is listed in trailer credits. I hope it doesn't fail! Regardless of Murphey, there are alot of people involved who are working really hard to deliver a quality film. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I sense the Miami Vice trend here ;-) Real fans will be pissed because its so way off the original, but its going to be a M.Bay movie (which will be bad because M.Bay is an extremely bad director !!), nothing more ;-) Just design wise those Transformers dude are hideous and way too modern - and thats only the toip of the iceberg IMO ;-) Those things happen when money dictates art ;-) Ahh the days when it was not like that :-| EDIT: I know Ultra Prime, I was beeing sarcastic there ;-) *yoda* Quote
UltraPrime Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 EDIT: I know Ultra Prime, I was beeing sarcastic there ;-) *yoda* X-D X-D X-D I hope I'm not coming across as a die-hard fan. I remember getting my first Transformer in September 1984 (I remember only because it was when I moved from junior school to senior). It was Optimus Prime. Having been a fan since the start, I've seen so many changes it just seems a natural progression. Most of the complainers are tose who loved it back then, but didn't keep up with it for whatever reasons and are just coming back now. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Yes Ultra Prime, that would be me ;-) Evolution is one thing that is normal in the course of a show, cartoon and yada yada yada. Its perfectly OK IF (and only IF) the true spirit remains ;-) Let me take an exemple to illustrate what I'm saying: I am a die hard fan of the 80's show Miami Vice ( *wub* ). I still haven't seen the movie yet but I know that the spirit of the show is gone !! So I'm sure it will be a good M.Mann movie but without any relation with the show. I have a feeling that the Transformers movie will suffer the same fate BUT I haven't followed the show for a lot of years and I am counting on you, the hard core fans from the beginning to enlighten us ;-) I admit I am bias on the subject for two reasons: * I totally despise M.Bay * I am more of a nostalgic fan - I really think that the robots are WAY TOO modern. I mean modernity is ok off course BUT if it limits itself. From the pics we saw That alien Megatron ressembles nothing at all, its really hideous, and what the hell is that Bumblebee thing suppose to be. Sure I was not expecting Ferdinand Porsche's design of the Classic Beatle, but I was not expecting that either. They should have stayed with the new Beatle which would be a perfect mix between Nostalgia and Modernity ;-) *yoda* Quote
UltraPrime Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 With regards to the Bettle, that was VWs call - they want no association with 'war' toys. Hasbro have been trying to get a new VW toy out for years. Quote

Hasbro have been trying to get a new VW toy out for years. What a load of crap !! Seriously, I remember some Porsche Transformers, and Ferdinand Porsche was the guy who invented the Turbo Engine on the Messershmitt planes :-| So is a Porsche model considered as a "war" toy ? Oh well, I love those inconsistent Cie policies :-D *yoda* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Riotflea wrote:1. Do you think the decision (as I think Michael Bay may've said) to have the movie at a 50/50 robot/human scene ratio, was due to their (erroneous) vision of what The Transformers is about, or was it more of a cost-cutting measure to avoid expenditures on special effects? 2. Perhaps a weighted question, but do you think the movie is going to do enough business to warrant a sequel? It is going to have a decent amount of competition at the box office and fans and non-fans alike have complained about pretty much every aspect possible of what's been leaked so far. 3. Has there been any dialogue from any of the big boys above you regarding your talking to the fans or "how" you've talked to the fans? (Likewise, perhaps even what they want you to say / leak to the fans?) Don Murphy1- We were always doing a live action film 2- Yes 3- I talk to the fans like a fan. Notice the big boys as you put it aren't even doing so. He's not answering EVERY question people post, but he's gotten to the ones in my first post. Hmm... that first answer wasn't really an answer. <__< Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Looool that answer to question 1 is right on the spot :-D :-P *yoda* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 RIOTFLEA Those... those aren't really answers to the questions. And no, you don't talk to fans like a fan. If you did, no long-term controversy would have materialized. Don MurphyYour name isn't really Riotflea RiotfleaOk, you're just baiting me, so I'll ditch any further questions to you. And I'm also not going to pay to see this movie now, no matter how good it might or might not turn out. Don MurphyI am not baiting you, your name is NOT Riotflea And of course you will see it So chill the heck out and take a fleabath RiotfleaIndeed, I will see it. But the not paying money way. There's no point in financially promoting things that shouldn't be. Don MurphyOh please RiotfleaYou're welcome. X D Quote
optimus-convoy Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Don Murphy... what a jerk. My feelings are mixed on the new designs. The Megatron design looks nice, but doesn't remind me at all of Megs. Bumblebee just looks too generic to me, but the face is alright. It looks so sweet and inosent, in a mecha sorta way. But I kinda like Optimus. Sure the flames are a little gawdy but it still gives off that Prime vibe without looking exactly the same as the original. Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Go Jinzo Go, Go Jinzo Go :-D I am not baiting you, your name is NOT JINZONINGEN 73 !! And remember your fleabath :-D Seriously its amazing that an executive producer reacts like that: what a pompus jerk !! He really needs a great slap on the face to make him touch reality or something similar !! I wonder what that other idiot (i.e. M.Bay) thinks of such conduct :-| *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 As i am a die hard TF fan and have watched and read most comics featuring the TF's i can honestly say that i believe that the designs of these characters has gone way to far. I do agree that every few years the designs must be freshed up but for me this is way to far esp for megatron. If hes going to be given his cannon then at least thats something i guess. As for Murphy well his posts are unbelieveable and his attitude stinks, to talk to fans in this manner is just not good practise of acceptable. Quote
Jipay Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 to talk to fans in this manner is just not good practise of acceptable. To talk to anyone in this manner is not acceptable IMO lol Quote
UltraPrime Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 The following has turned up: Optimus Prime As this is appearing on official merchandise, it's probably final design. Thoughts? I like it. Of all the redesigns I've seen, this is closest to original. Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I like it. Of all the redesigns I've seen, this is closest to original. Agreed, its the best and closest to the original TF we have seen so far ;-) However, I don't see the need for those "pimp my ride" flames on a truck :-| Its another example on where "modernity" clearly sucks ;-) Flames on a pick up or sports car are ugly but at least understandable, but on a truck, its just wrong IMO. *yoda* Quote
UltraPrime Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Agreed. Bay has said there is a reason for them, but I'm afraid I can thing of none that make sense. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 (edited) LOL... because Don is freaking insane and had to start name-calling, they deleted the "Ask Don" topic and closed access to his account. BUT they decided to let him post again. http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic...f8f4b5ba8582a85 Then they closed this, where he was last: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic...f8f4b5ba8582a85 Edited September 1, 2006 by JINZONINGEN 73 Quote
UltraPrime Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 OK, I mentioned earlier that Bay had a reason for Prime's flames. Well, he's now revealed the reason. And as I thought, it's lame: "The reason I went with the flames was to be able to define Prime's mid-section when he's a robot." Apparently, the flames are set sort of like ribs on the robot Prime, giving his mid-section more than just a monotone look. He also assured me that Prime was definitely red and blue, that the paint job from that angle made the blue look black. He also said that the only reason he picked a long-nose truck instead of a flat-nose truck was purely for the additional mass. Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Ribs on a robot *wacko* I never thought it was THAT lame though !! I think Hollywood needs to stop drug abuse this instant :-| *yoda* Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 OUCH, I was browsing Maj.com and found another BIG disappointment named "Incinerator" :-X Look at that horror: All way too modern for my taste :-X *yoda* Quote
