CMP Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Miderun handed off the cape with a nod, and headed out to the potion stand on the other side of the marketplace. There, she picked up a Phoenix Essence, three Potions, a Nostrum, and Smelling Salts for a total of 125 gold. Finally, she went over to the blacksmith, unimpressed by the somewhat lacking facilities there, but selling her Club for 25 gold, leaving her with 192 when she returned to the hall.. Quote

K-Nut Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Seeing his name among the chosen heroes, Althior makes is way down to the marketplace. He first stops at Fabian's stall as he pulls out his old cloaks. "Let's say about 80 gold for the Robe of the Elven Necromancer and perhaps 60 gold for the Rat Queen's cloak. That seem alright with you, Master Elf?" Quote
Flipz Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Arthur rushes up to Althior as he approaches Fabian. "Althior! Oh, hello, again, Fabian. Please, forgive my intrusion--actually, while we wait, perhaps you could imbue my spare Scroll of Blindness and Confusion into my cloak?" Arthur hands the Shadeaux Cloak along with 100 Gold over to Fabian. "We barely had a moment to speak before. How have you been? You barely spoke of anything besides business in our Z-mails, I'd love to hear about what you've been up to since our last meeting." Quote

He passes his Amethyst to be merged with his Robe of the Seneschal for 50 gold, "Should watch what I say about them, seeing as they're my employers now." He chuckles, "Haven't been up to much. Did some delivery services and crypt cleansing. Just got back from an errand for the Veterans in Babeleth. And yourself? Still not running around with Alexis, are you? I'd certainly hope not." Quote

"Alexis? Nah. I've gotten over what happened between us." Arthur looks away. "Besides, that part of my life is...sort of over now." Arthur thinks back to that certain person he had met, the only one who might have understood...but she was surely long gone by now--she herself had said Heroica didn't really interest her. Ironic--the first time in ages I've considered a normal life, and only now I realize how utterly I've ruined my chances of ever having one. Arthur begins to wander the Marketplace, happening to meander through Anwyl's wares as he continues speaking to Althior. "The Watch...? What, you're going to be working for them on your Quest? Good luck--they didn't take to me very well. Well, some of 'em did, but it seems like the only ones who get promoted these days are the ones who hate Heroes. They don't seem to 'get' the way being a Hero works, either, especially when it comes to the Veterans' spells." The Skirmisher notices Anwyl glowering at him for his loitering, so without really thinking about it her slides over his Dauntlet Index, his Amethyst, and 50 gold. "Me? Well, I helped a princess find a lost storybook, cleared out a bunch of Oculoids from The Regret's old base, and helped save R'klif from Pongcanis--though that last one I try not to think too much about. Had a really obnoxious dwarf along for the ride, and just barely held myself back from killing the little bastard." To Arthur's surprise, Anwyl quickly slides the newly-imbued weapon back to him; apparently it was a slow day for business. He shrugs, then slides another 50 Gold to the "dwarf" along with his Spider Leg and Topaz, though he notes this time that the smithy's glare does not abate when the Skirmisher produces the coin. Arthur decides to change the subject. "Anyway, my most recent mission was to guard a winery for the Shadeaux from a so-called 'master thief'. Don't see what the fuss was about, really, he was more irritating than legitimately threatening." Edited October 15, 2014 by Flipz Quote

"It's so nice to see that you still have such fond remembrances of me Arthur, it's very touching. And may I take this opportunity to apologize for my despicable behavior last time we met? I really don't know what came over me, sorry for this intrusion, goodbye."He turned to go but then stopped and turned around. "By the way, I didn't know you two knew each other, I hope Althor has been telling you all about how he has betrayed the Veterans and thrown us all to the wolves, good day." This time the despicable little creep really did go, and it was very obvious that he didn't intend to buy anything, and even more obvious that he had followed them. K-Nut Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 "I was hoping it would be" For the first time, he looked back to the Skirmisher, "I warned you then and I'll warn you again now. We do not, in our line of business, have time for meaningful relations like that. It seems we both learned it the hard way," He nods. "If there's one thing I hate the most about this damned city, it's those sniveling cowards over at the watch. Them with their damned sense of 'justice', hell, they have no idea what the word means. Hell, I've sided with the Wolfgang just to shove it in old Patricia's face," Finnegan clear his throat as the Necromancer turns back, unaware that the aura had accompanied him. Figures he'd be crawling at his feet. "Well, not just. Gotta get out of the damned hall for a little bit though," He turned back to Arthur, raising his hand. "Dwarf you say? About this tall?" "Pftt... Aren't they all?" Althior scoffed. "I know of whom you speak. He was on this last mission I was. Got so damned sick of the party he decide to abandon us and follow his own path. I heard he got skewered in half in the woods too. Serves the bugger right. Sometimes I wish the Veterans would lift their damn spell from time to time. Helps people realize their mistakes and gets rid of the more annoying types." He looked to the cold expression on the Skirmisher's face. "Gotta give him some credit though. All newbie heroes are rash and arrogant. Even us at Brobic Fort, my 'apprentice', were exactly like him one day." He pauses. "Well, not exactly like him," The Necromancer's head shot up at the mention of the Oculoid's. "So I'm not the only one those bastards have tormented. You end up meeting this so-called Regret? They said I was a lot like that thing they worshipped. I should pay them no attention, though. Talking about Lifespark's and Progg's and mere myths. Insane things," He leans over to Portia's shack, buying 8 Meads and 4 Nostrums. (140+120=260). Quote

He's a 'destroy the world and remake it in my image' type of fellow, though the most arrogant one I've ever met. Would you believe he actually had the gall to post a Quest notice asking for Heroes to try to stop him, bragging outright that they wouldn't be able to? " He shakes his head. "Not to say he isn't dangerous, but he's trying way too hard to impress and/or intimidate people he claims are beneath his attention." "Anyway, I think I'll head back to the Hall. Have time for one last drink before you set off again? " Edited October 16, 2014 by Flipz Quote

Lind set 50 gold down on the counter casually, and picked up the shuriken. 488 gold - 50 = 438 He suddenly rubbed his hands together for a few moments, stuck the shuriken into his pouch, and then pulled a shuriken out. "You know, strangest thing, I suddenly seem to have a WP:3 Shuriken, and an WP:8 Indescribable Pole on me that I'd like to sell." 438 + 15 = 453 453 + 40 (WP:8 x 5) = 493 "Oi, oi, oi. Right away." 233 - 100(removal(50) + merging(50)) = 133 Lind stepped over to Gnomeo's Tool Shed. "Excuse me, but could I buy that shovel there?" "Fine, fine, then shovel off already! "Want me to work on that while I'm at it?" the smithy asks. "Not yet," Arthur replies. "I'd rather let some newer Hero get some use out of it first. Seen any Mystic Knights around lately in need of a shield?" "Hmph. Not lately." "Ah. Thanks anyway." the Skirmisher replies, and goes back to his impatient waiting. Quote
StickFig Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Matthias wanders into the Market, wondering how his coin purse never seems to have anything in it and nursing tiny muscles sore from lugging around a collection of heavy blades. Remembering Calmcacil’s advice about an “‘amerspase bag” to contain all his items, he heads first to Gnomeo’s, but the mean little gnome - he’s shorter than Matthias, even, so he IS little - doesn’t seem to know what Matthias is talking about. Maybe some of the other Heroes in the Hall can tell me, the ranger thinks to himself, and he sets about perusing the other shops. He peeks his head into Smokebeard’s smithy, and the smith promptly offers to buy up the set of weapons Matthias is hauling around on his back. Glad to trade some of his stash for a little more coin, the gnome sells Smokebeard his Ball and Chain, Fang Dagger, and Staff for twenty gold apiece and his Steel Cutlass for another twenty-five, but he can’t bring himself to part with Magnar’s axe or the Red Lizard sword. After some discussion, gnome and “dwarf” agree that Smokebeard can keep the sword, but only if he removes the Ruby for Matthias, so the smith puts his forge to work and soon has the gem removed and back in Matthias’ hands. As a last thought strikes, Matthias pays 50 gold to have the Topaz removed from his Conductor’s Helmet. - Ball and Chain (WP:4, chain) + 20 gold - Fang Dagger (WP:4, dagger) + 20 gold - Staff (WP:4, staff) + 20 gold - Steel Cutlass (WP:5, longsword) + 25 gold - Sword of the Red Lizard (WP:10, Fire-elemental, longsword) + Ruby - Conductor’s Helmet (SP:1, protects from Lightning, headwear) -50 gold + Topaz + Helmet (SP:1, headwear) The gnome leaves Anwyl's shop and continues browsing. His eyes alight on a Gentleman’s Hat in Fabian’s boutique, and when he picks it up, it’s a little heavier than it looks, due to a secrete beneath the felt. He considers it for a moment, but the weight of gold in his pouch is too nice to give up so soon, so he heads back to the Hall. Edited November 16, 2014 by StickFig Quote
Sandy Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 It was always an exciting event when a new stall was erected to the Marketplace. The early crowd gave interested glances at Portia and Dain Almight when they carried crates under the awning of what would be Dain's new workplace. "You don't know what a relief this is to me, Master Almight! To finally get rid of these nasty explosives that could blow up me and my stall to smithereens. And the clients that purchase them are always so sleazy and suspicious... You're a lifesaver!" "Don't mention it, Miss Portia. I am merely relocating my old business here from Port Taboo. Hehe, I can't even count the times I had to rebuild my laboratory back there... The village was made entirely from wood, so you can imagine I was not the most appreciated citizen." "Hope you understand that it is the reason why your stall was positioned on the opposite side of the square from mine. No offense, I just don't want you to take me with you if your place blows up. All these bombs, gathered in one place... And I hear you combine them too! Doesn't that require, like, opening the bombs?" "Why yes, but that is an easy process. Did they not teach you that at the guildhouse?" "Ha ha ha! What do you take me for, a smelly alchemist?! Not with looks like mine, honey. Now, I see you have a line forming up. Have fun, and try not to visit me too often. I don't want people start to think we're friends or something silly like that. Ta!" "Oh..." Shrugging at his ditzy colleague, the dwarven bombcrafter stepped behind the counter of his shop, returning to his profession as a bomb merchant. ~Dain Almight's Bomb Shelter has opened to business at the Marketplace! I will have to check that out as I wait, I muse. Approaching Anwyl's armoury, I hand him the Crossbow. "I need this upgraded to a Level 14, on the Anwylian Scale, weapon." "Crossbow? Since when have you taken to archery. I thought you were an Artisan?" "Um...of course, I am planning to train as a druid...or something like that." Grumbling, Anwyl takes the Weapon and upgrades it to WP: 14. WP: 8 to WP: 14 costs 90+100+110+120+130+140=690-25%=518 gold spent. 585-518=67 gold profit. Quote
