Posted August 18, 201113 yr Hi, I've been modding a little on the 8043 excavator recently, and discovered a lot of new equipment mods. The problem is that there is on topic for each mod, so they are almost impossible to find. With this topic I want to start a collection of equipment for 8043, and equipment related mods. I hope everybody can help by either putting a link to other topics or adding replays with pics and videos of their own mods. I'll start by presenting my Jackhammer "The Nail Beater" (It actually hurts unleashing this on a finger nail, just ask my wife ) It's a simple spring loaded system that packs quite a punch, but it's slow. I tried to make it faster by using a 8 tooth gear, but that ended in a destroyed gear... I'll try again in a while with different springs. 3 times shorter time between hits would mak it a lot mor realistic, and it would be more compact to... The motor in this construction is doubling up as additional weight to make each punch count. More pictures and the complete .lfx file will soon be available on my brickshelf. The result of hitting a cracker Here you can even see crumbs on the spear Attached to the excavator Better view Details of the loading mechanism Partslist A youtube video will follow soon. You may also be intrested in my mod to fit a technic minifig in 8043. -ED- EDIT: Added some details. Edited August 18, 201113 yr by Nazgarot

August 20, 201113 yr Author I really like your mod! It seems the motor has a little trouble with the suspension. Maybe use a softer spring. Yes, I will try once i get home from work. I was thinking of trying with a 8 tooth gear as well, but using rubber bands as the springs are to stiff for this. Edit: Oh, and the batteries where almost flat. You can especially hear that as I try to lift the boom again after cracking the cookie (Should it be cracker maybe?). Edited August 20, 201113 yr by Nazgarot

August 28, 201113 yr Well i finished my penultimate mod comments welcome,i should add that it was made quickly and so not very neat also the video and the pics are not the best. The list of thinks i did: extended the counterweight made new a new boom coupling mechanism (can change to ether hrd or normal boom) fitted 2 pf switches to allow the change of motors changed the gearing to the boom lift LA'S added another battery box
August 28, 201113 yr Very impressive mod!! i was thinking of doing something similar. ohh and i will be able to post picturees of my mod tonight!! tim
August 29, 201113 yr Here is my collection of attachments: First a rotating bucket: In the arm of the excavator, there is a m motor to power a PTO. Next is a grapple, unfortunately, i did not have a micro motor so the grapple does not rotate. Again it is driven by the PTO in arm of the excavator. Next is a ripper attachment to rip through the ground: Next to last is a jack hammer. It is driven by the PTo in the arm, which drives the axle up and down. Finally is the compacter. It has a rotating drum which packs down the ground. thats all the attachments. More pictures can be seen of my ultimate 8043 mod on my brickshelf gallery. tim
August 31, 201113 yr If you want you could build Alan-p's grab with out the micro motors and just use a pf motor,Nice mod. Edited September 1, 201113 yr by Alasdair Ryan

Could you post in more detail the lifting mechanism for the cab, i have no idea how you did it! tim
