Rufus Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Spoils: The potions should go to those lowest in health, except Hybros who already has two potions: Alexis Boomingham Eric Now might be a good time to use them . Then shall we look at the crates with the Ziegfried emblem? And search the rest of the aisle.
Khorne Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Eric thanked Rufindel for the Potion. He immediately drank it and all of his wounds disappeared. Eric felt strong and reinvigorated. Newfound power and strength pumped through his veins. "I can't wait to see what we'll find in these crates"
Sandy Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 The party decides to open the crates with the Ziegfried insignia. Inside, they find numerous bottles in a stack of hay. Upon closer inspection, they see that the bottles are filled with some sort of smoky, swirling liquid. A faint humming echoes from the bottles, bringing chills to the heroes' spines. Would the heroes dare to open one of the bottles? There are no other interesting crates within the aisle.
Rufus Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Well, the crates definitely belong to the Ziegfrieds then! Could we perhaps take one bottle as evidence that their crates are here? Though I guess it's quite possible that the Shadeaux got these crates through perfectly legitimate means. Otherwise, back to aisle 4 and I guess we need to go through the back door. Unless we feel brave enough to open a bottle?
CMP Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Atramor springs back up into the air, rejuvenated by the extra level, and stuffs his hat back on his head. "I...I tripped," he mutters. "And if none of you guys wanna risk it..." Atramor scoops up one of the bottles, and holds it aloft.
Zepher Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Boomingham noisily slurps down the potion that was just handed to him, returning himself to fighting order. "I feel much better," he booms. "We want to take just one bottle of proof?! I could carry those crates on my own for the rest of our investigation, and take out all the guards, and not even break a sweat!" he boasts. "But in all seriousness, Rufindel, you're our magic user, it wouldn't be a bad idea to let you investigate one of the bottles, to make sure we want them back in the Zeigfried's hands. Not that I'm opposed to more money, but..."
Sandy Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 The party decides to take one bottle, but (apparently) they will not open it. Instead they head to the back door on the fourth aisle. Just as they are about to open it, a woman enters through it. The black-clad woman is carrying a fleuret and a shield with the Shadeaux motif, the bat. "Sacre Chauve-souris, what du we 'ave 'ere? Intruders? What du you want? Are you per'aps looking fur somezing?" What will the party answer?
Rufus Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Rufindel whispers to his colleagues. 'We mustn't reveal why we're here or what we're looking for. Boomingham, perhaps your charm is required here?'
JimBee Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Agreed, Rufindel. Though I think we should open one of those bottles. They could be valuable.
Rufus Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Though I think we should open one of those bottles. They could be valuable. We could... but if it releases some kind of malevolent spirit we'll probably have to fight it. Unless it attacks the Batgirl
Sandy Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Agreed, Rufindel. Though I think we should open one of those bottles. They could be valuable. We could... but if it releases some kind of malevolent spirit we'll probably have to fight it. Unless it attacks the Batgirl The Shadeaux woman looks at them with a raised eyebrow. "You du know I can 'ear everyzing you say? I am standing right 'ere, after all. So, you 'ave taken somezing from us, non? Zis bottle you mentioned?"
JimBee Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Erm, um, no, what bottle? I don't know what you're talking about, madam. I think we should just dispose of her quickly, before she alerts her fellow Shadauex, Hybros whispers to his allies.
Rufus Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I think we should just dispose of her quickly, before she alerts her fellow Shadauex, Hybros whispers to his allies. I agree, whispers Rufindel.
Sandy Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 The woman is seemingly amused. "You du realize you are ze intruders 'ere, dun't you? 'Owever, I am a reasonableu femme. I see you are from 'Eroica, and my family wishes non troubleus wiz your organization. Alors, let me introduce myself. My name is Umbra Shadeaux, the daughter of ze venerableu Noctus Shadeaux. I will make you an offeur: in exchange for 1200 gold, you name the person whu 'ired you, and you will walk out of 'ere free and intact, and wiz improved relations wiz my family. You can even keep ze bottle." Umbra winks, and slashes her rapier in the air. "Refuse, and we fight."
JimBee Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 "Please, madame", Hybros asked the beautiful Umbra. "Allow us to discuss our choice among ourselves before answering". Hybros turned toward his companions. "Well, it seems like we have to choose between the Hinckwells and the Shadeaux. This woman seems tough, and she's offering us the same amount as our reward would be", whispered Hybros. "Plus, we get this strange bottle. I'm not favored either way towards the Hinckwells or Shadeaux, but I am wary of the trickery that may be present here. She might get the name out of us, and kill us anyways. Besides, the Hinckwells specifically told us not to reveal them". Hybros continued in a hushed tone, making sure Umbra couldn't hear what he was saying. "I think we should decline, and take our chances with waging war on the Shadeaux. In any case, I'll drink a potion so that I'm fully prepared to do battle".
Rufus Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 *Whispered* I agree, Hybros. Though the 'reward' is the same, I am an Elf of honour, and I do not wish to double-cross our sponsor. Plus I do not trust these Shadeaux. I say we fight. What does everyone else think?
Masked Builder Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 "I agree with Rufindel. Let's not double-cross our employer." Takes one of her potions, restoring her to full health.
Zepher Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Boomingham eyes the woman who is kindly giving them an offer. Boomingham does not drool over her, but if he was in a less critical situation, he would certainly take time to get to know her. "I've never been big on fighting, admits Boomingham. "I'm a knight because it was shoved on me along with my kingdom. She is offering us a pretty good deal. We would avoid conflict, and we would get to keep this bottle we found..." Boomingham clears his throat nervously and awkwardly. There has been something on his mind. "I think we ought to take note that we haven't exactly found any crates belonging to our employers... it just rubs me the wrong way. The warehouse basically ends here. Why did they send us in if there are no crates with their marking on them? I'm just confused by it, and it sort of seems to me as if we were set up. I don't know, something to consider. I'd personally like to at least consider her offer. Talking about honor, if this is a set-up by our employers to get us to attack the poor little lady with the adorable accent, I think it would be more honorable to avoid conflict. Just my two gold." Boomingham relaxes, waiting to see what the others have to say.
JimBee Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hybros turns to Boomingham, and whispers, "You're right, but Lorcan never said that he or any of the Hinckwells knew for a fact that their cargo was stolen by the Shadeaux, they only had suspicions. Besides, we found something here that we were not expecting to find, and I think that we'd be paid handsomely for finding the Ziegfried crates". Hybros continued in a hushed tone. "And I think we'd be paid by the Hinckwells anyway. Our mission was to go in and see if there were any Hinckwell crates at all, not to retrieve crates that aren't even here. Besides, if we double-cross the Hinckwells, they'll never hire any of us again. I still think we should stand and fight".
CMP Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Atramor sweeps off his hat and bows to the Rogue-ish looking woman. "Please, Ms. Shadeaux. I am in no doubt of your fighting prowess, but you are outnumbered. And if we do fight, we'll just take the gold from you, and keep the bottle as well. So...kinda of a hollow deal on our end. And I'd rather not kill you, I do so enjoy your taste in feathered hats, but I will if I must."

And I'd rather not kill you, I do so enjoy your taste in feathered hats, but I will if I must." Umbra Shadeaux lets out a chiming laughter. "Outnumbered? I dun't zink so... And ze gold is not in my purse, you silly but 'andsome rogue. But I admit, my family is filzy rich, and I see you are 'esitating, so I will raise my offeur to 1500 gold. Take it or leave it."
Khorne Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 "This is a difficult matter. The woman offered us a better deal than the one we have with our current employer. 1500 gold instead of 1200 and we get to keep the bottle. Maybe we can even make some more money if we take the bottle to the Siegfrieds and get some sort of finder's reward. Plus, somehow I like the Shadeaux more. Sure, they're sneaky, but at least they admit it. Our employer acts all good and posh, when in fact they're no better than the Shadeaux. Hell, if they had been honest, they wouldn't have send us sneaking in here. However, I'm not afraid of a good fight, so if the party decides to decline the offer, I will stand by the decision and fight this woman. I'd think about her offer. The Shadeaux are a growing House, while the Hinckwells' power is fading. We can ally ourselves with what's in my eyes the more powerful of the two Houses" Eric whispered. He eyed his companions, awaiting their answers.
CMP Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 "Hmm. Now this is a tempting offer. I'll be honest, I have no problem with double crossing our employers. But..." Atramor drops his voice low, so only the party can hear. "Maybe we tell her we're working for the Ziegfrieds, although we're doing the same thing, looking for crates."

Atramor drops his voice low, so only the party can hear. "Maybe we tell her we're working for the Ziegfrieds, although we're doing the same thing, looking for crates." Eric whispered back: "That's a good idea. It crossed my mind as well, but I didn't really want to suggest it. If we play it smart, we can take the 1500 from the Shadeaux and get the 1200 from the Hinckwells"
