My pleasure

Hey Darkness...you know I count you amongst my closest friends ;-)

Shall I PM you my address so you can send a tower? Just kidding...

In all seriousness are you thinking of starting a store?

Haha they are eyeing off my multiple Grand Emporiums, Fire Brigades and Death Stars too :p

I have dabbled in ebay, but I also find it difficult to part with my sets once I get them.

Once sets skyrocket in price I offload them, once upon a time it used to fund my hobby but not so much anymore.

My wife and I have debated opening an online store, but at this stage it isn't anything serious.

Tower Bridge has jumped back up to 169 euros at Amazon.fr. Hope some others got in on the cheaper price

Motorized Excavator is at £103.31 before tax removal and freight at amazon.co.uk

Translation "I am not telling anyone what I am going to do with my lego collection! :p"

you can advise your closest friends to buy from amazon.fr. they will thank you for it.

Bought several At-Ot walkers and grand emporiums few days ago, and they went out of stock within few hours.

All shipped via UPS

Lucky steal!

Haha not really. Once I was selling to fund my entire collection. And I sold off my original UCS star destroyers and death stars and didn't keep one for myself. I regret it immensely now.

I just look at how cheap we can import these sets and considering how others have gone, question the viability of it. Alot of people who buy the sets will just grab it from a retailer I believe. That's the way I see the Australian market anyway. Fanatics like us here will buy overseas due to the price factor.

I ordered another Tower Bridge from Amazon.fr this morning for 120.37 EUR before freight (and with tax removed)

It is temporarily out of stock though, so fingers crossed I get one shipped

Wow and I thought I got a good deal at 140.00 Euro. It pays to be vigilant.

I have a stack of items in the shopping carts across Amazon US UK and FR.

I check them multiple times a day. You never know what temporary discounts pop up

Does anyone have any Barnes and Noble coupon codes at the moment? I may put in an order for some LEGO and DVDs

The BN site is advertising "50% off ANY one educational toy or game" for Black Friday. Presumably this includes LEGO - I can't see anywhere that specifies one way or the other, but the ad banner shows a pic of a clone brand that shall go unnamed. What's intriguing is that the "countdown" page shows the countdown to Friday in my timezone - I wonder if this is means those in an Aussie timezone could access the sale 15 hours before the States??

They also show the coupon code E7U4N9X which is currently good for 30% off, presumably off any non-LEGO item but I haven't bothered to check.

Also, BN seem to have complicated their BN Kids Club 30% coupons nowadays.. They still provide them, but none of them work during checkout - you have to make the undiscounted purchase and then contact cutomer service to get the refund. Not that I even know of any LEGO items that currently qualify for this discount.

If Lego is 50% off at BN, Mindstorms will be affordable (for me to play around with).

Although I would probably get the turbo tank... I want the minifigs. Can't wait to see if it is on lego (shame it is only one item, although my CC would be happy).

May I ask that how long will they send our order to AU? 2 weeks? 1 month? or 3 months?

Cos I will be in overseas 3 weeks later.... and stuck there for 1.5 months

Any Canadians out there order from the amazon.fr site? I'm looking at the Cargo Train since it's a good price, but I'm curious as to what kind of customs/duties that I will be charged.

I ordered a Cargo Train (#7939) and Train Station (#7397) from amazon.fr on Oct. 27 and they arrived in Vancouver Nov. 1. Duties were $29.64 CAD on goods of value 109,03 EUR, which I thought was pretty reasonable (seems to be GST only + $10 UPS brokerage)... saved over $100 vs. buying sets in Canada.

Hope this helps. :)

I did a B&N order at the beginning of the year that took 5 business days (to Canberra) with priority UPS shipping. No damage whatsoever, all Lego boxes in very good condition.

I have watched the countdown go to zero, tried to make a purchase but cannot get any discount of a Lego item. Anyone know how this 50% discount is meant to work?

I beleive that deal was in-store only?

Naw, the email I received stated in store and online. Though the 30% off coupon to use now in that email included the usual 'not applicable on items stating no discounts/coupons' - ie including pretty much all Lego. Technically it isn't Friday yet so the countrer may just not be working yet? I'd be very surprised if they give us 50% off a Lego set... They're pretty tight with those discounts now, perhaps after they were abused earlier in the year?

...So it's ticked over to midnight in the States and there are indeed no surprises on the bn.com website. When they said "50% off Any one educational toy or game" what they meant was "50% off Any one educational toy or game that we include in the sale". Includes rival-brand sets but no Lego sets. There is, however, assorted Lego-branded merchandise included in the sale, eg watches & Minifigure alarm clocks.

Yes I have seen, how very lame of them. Its seems every single sale I have seen for months now has excluded Lego. That is the only item I buy from them (sigh)

All is not lost now that Eurobricks has helped me find Amazon Fr.

I have a question about Australian Quarantine -

So apparently a Bricklink order of mine whose tracking was languishing in 'Being shipped to destination country' for a *month* is, after an inquiry by the seller to DHL, actually in Australian Quarantine! As I've never had this occur with a Lego order (all of the items are NISB) I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before, and if so, what the deal with it is? Namely, how long is it stuck there and what are the implicAtions of having your Lego pass through Quarantine?

Thanks!

Haven't heard of Quarantine holding a Lego package before. Where was it shipped from?

Winter Bakery is 38.24 and Winter Toy Shop is 41.57 before tax removal at Amazon.fr

Germany via DHL. Don't know how long it's been there. Aus RRP of the order is well above $1k but my cost was far enough under so I shouldn't be stiffed with GST - I've read of cases of AQIS requesting documentation of what you paid in aud for the goods, but obviously I haven't heard anything from them.

Do you think it could be a problem with the fireworks and saplings I had them send in the same package?

I hope not. Holding onto it for that long though, you would have thought had there been an issue they would contact you.

I've been pushing the customs limit a bit lately. Latest order is well over $1000 retail here but around $900 on conversion. That being said, my orders generally get broken up too.

Amazon.com shipped the Mindstorms sets I ordered last night, 8 hours after I ordered it *oh2*

Hmm. I received a package HK->Sydney via UPS this week that had been opened by quarantine & taped up again, without any appreciable delay in shipment. I was intrigued cos I've had packages opened up by customs before but never by quarantine, and it's not like there was any organic/electronic/suspicious material in there.. Maybe they've uncovered a Lego-importing drug ring or something. How odd.
