DrWeevil Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Yikes, we're all so bad for each other! The one good thing about aus rrp is that I really bought less stuff as bargains were few and far between in store here. Since I discovered O/S amazon and the stronger Aussie dollar I've spend much more money this year than I ever have before. Granted I earn more money compared to before and a fair bit of what I spent this year was on old retired sets that I won't have to do again (see - my justification :P), but I really hope in one way TLG don't release a lot of great sets next year! On a more relevant note, my Imperial Shuttle has been shipped (via UPS, delivery estimate 9 Dec) now just to wait and see how long it takes! Also, the large Bricklink order I was waiting on *finally* arrived yesterday (2nd Dec) - after being sent on 24th October. I ordered from ChromeBricks - they are mostly modded brick sellers but also sell a select number of larger sets. Worth a look as they have up to 20-30kg shipped for 33eur (including 11 euro insurance) - but note the very long shipping time. Outer box was also wet when it arrived but the real boxes were in Lego boxes inside and were fine. Not a bad option if you're a patient person as the prices were decent - not much more than US rrp - the VW combi was actually cheaper than us rrrp.
bensl Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 .............. Edited: Ordered from Amazon Italy - the only site that was sold by Amazon and would ship to Australia. 195 Euro express shipping included (no other option). Pretty satisfied with that, makes it around $200 below aus rrp of $450. what was the list price? i had a look now and its at 230 euro. i would definately jump on at 195 delivered.
DrWeevil Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 what was the list price? i had a look now and its at 230 euro. i would definately jump on at 195 delivered. Can't remember exactly, either that or 220 - go through checkout until the second last step and it'll take off the VAT. Mine ex-VAT was 175 euro. 20 euro for UPS shipping (only option). City Advent on Fishpond at $26ish aud - supposedly to ship out Monday for free if anyone wants to take a risk...
lorax Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Finally got the turbo tank (I really wanted the minifigs from that set), with the city of Atlantis delivered for $167. My husband came down stairs and immediatly could tell from my face I had been on amazon France... I had that, oops, I couldn't resist face

Oh you guys are a bad, bad, bad, bad influence Another Amazon for me to consistently check? Oh my. My credit card is crying I have an Imperial shuttle already, am resisting that cheap price to add a second. Or third. Happy to hold onto them until the value rises Still I need some form of self control, especially considering I had 11 sets arrive today, including my extra Tower Bridge sets :P

That's hilarious! I hope you have home contents insurance :-)
Concept Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 11 sets. That's hilarious! I hope you have home contents insurance :-) I actually enquired about adding my Lego to my contents insurance the other day. I just have to pull my finger out and gather up all the receipts. I got my 8043 through a BrickLink Seller, Bricks2Play (highly recommended) for 104 Euro but I think the shipping brings the prices back into line seeing as no one seems to be able to ship as cheaply as Amazon do.
TheDarkness Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 11 sets. That's hilarious! I hope you have home contents insurance :-) I do. I will be updating it very soon too, considering what I have here now. Will need to itemise my lego for them, its a big, expensive collection these days. I will sell some off over time, but I have a heap to try make sure they are safe since they are all sealed still. I only just got rid of my extra AT-OTs, and now contemplating more Imperial Shuttles!

I bought my Greengrocer modular building from them earlier in the year. At that time they had the best price including shipping for a new set and had lovely customer service. Would recommend them also.
Hewman Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Are the good times over for us Aussies? I saw the price of the Millennium Falcon dropped to just over 100 Euros on amazon.fr, I tried to buy and then got the message that it can't ship to my address. Has anyone else had this issue? This is the first time this has happened to me on amazon.fr. Edited December 4, 2011 by hewman

Hewman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Hhmmm was able to get Lego Train thru. Could be certain kits only like it is on UK/US? Yeah I just tried to add a few other sets at random, both big and small sets and the MF was the only one that wouldn't ship, which is a bit annoying seeing it was the only one I wanted.

Always the way. Odd though - perhaps it's a stock level thing?
greenpaw Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Always the way. Odd though - perhaps it's a stock level thing? Maybe we've all just bought too much :-) Yes when you try to check out with 7965 it does say in their "More information" section that they ship toys only to certain countries - Australia isn't one of them. Has anyone else tried to to order something in the last day or so? I wonder if they are slowly working through all the sets to block them from shipping here or this is just a random thing. I don't know, it seems rather random. The majority of sets can still be shipped. Edit: ignore what I said about amazon.es, once you go to checkout, nothing can ship to Australia. I ordered 11 :o sets yesterday and they've all shipped (in my defense, most of them were stocking fillers, there was only 1 large Technic set)
distortme Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Got a new one I think - a late shipment from Amazon.fr. I did have to provide a different payment method but that was before postage, but the package was due yesterday.
Kryne Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 My grand emporium just shipped from amazon.fr, ordered it when it was 101 euro, so was $135 posted to australia. Scheduled to arrive on friday? that cant be right i paid for slow shipping how can it be here in 4 days?
Belchher Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Amazon fr ship larger sets using UPS. The battle of endor i ordered was purchased late on a thursday and arrived the following tuesday, another large set arrived in 4 days. Both of those where using the standard shipping order, so yeah, 4-5 days sounds right, especially if you're in Sydney ( I'm on the GC, and the UPS tracking shows they go through syd, so an extra day right there ).
greenpaw Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) The Harry Potter Diagon Alley is at EUR 114 before taking off VAT (or 95 EUR after VAT) It's a great set! Mindstorms is also back down to $219 at Amazon.com. Not quite as good as last week's $209 but still alot less than local. Edited December 6, 2011 by greenpaw
Splat Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 It looks like Amazon.fr has run out of the Millennium Falcan (7965). The ones that are listed on their site now are "Ships from and sold by Peek and Poke", which is probably why it doesn't ship to Australia. Usually you have better luck getting Lego shipped to Australia if they are sold directly by Amazon.fr, not a 3rd party reseller.

It still appears in my basket but with a ship date of 1 to 2 months. I'll just have to play the waiting game to see if it shows up some time in the next couple weeks as being able to ship from Aus. Also if anyone one wants a death star, there were two on amazon.it earlier this evening, for about 370 Euro I think. My quick calculations before put it at about $420 shipped to Australia.
greenpaw Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I wonder why the Battle of Naboo is always the bestselling Lego set on Amazon France? I mean, its a great little set but... It just seems strange that it is always at the top.

greenpaw Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) The Emporium is down again to EUR 115 before VAT is removed (EUR 96 after VAT removed or AUS $125). Must...resist.... Edited December 7, 2011 by greenpaw
