Brickadeer Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I picked up my Imperial Shuttle UCS from the PO today - shipped from Amazon.it. The set was received with one reasonably crushed corner and a hole was punched through the front of both the outer box and the set box around the size of two 50c pieces. Not worth complaining / sending back to them, but thought I'd let people know that sets can certainly be damaged even when sent via UPS with 'quick shipping'. Ah - can you simply send it back? I'm very interested in knowing how amazon.it deals with customer complaints since I thought and still think about ordering there. I just a received a Clone Turbo Tank from amazon.co.uk. Both the outer box and the set box were in top condition. A closer look reveals what can be called "minor shelfware" at one edge of the box. But it is really, really minimal.

I know there's some sort of return policy but I've never bothered looking into it. I have a feeling another member on here has done so at some stage though, but perhaps through Amazon France, not Italy... I wasn't going to worry about following it up.
BlamJam Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I know there's some sort of return policy but I've never bothered looking into it. I have a feeling another member on here has done so at some stage though, but perhaps through Amazon France, not Italy... I wasn't going to worry about following it up. I recently received a soaking wet, beat up box of 2x Unimogs. Bottom set was beat up bad and torn, top set was wet and sunken in. Contacted Amazon.fr and lodged a return. They sent out replacements free, straight away, and I had to shell out and send the package back. They will credit back the postage ($220) when they receive the return. Pretty painful but I could not sell the Unimogs in that condition. I've never received a parcel quite as badly damaged as that (Some Barnes & Noble packages would be pretty close) and it hasn't stopped me from buying other sets. I think it was a freak mishap that they got left out - who knows whose fault it was.
DrWeevil Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks for sharing that information - I thought it'd be something along those lines. As I'm not selling on the sets a smallish tear and crushed corner isn't worth that pain!
wokajablocka Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 For those after a death star, you can get it from both amazon France and amazon Italy shipped to Australia (I assume other countries too) for less than 300 Euros. So so tempting, but I must save some money for life's essentials. Its gone from Amazon.it and .fr has it for $374 pounds still, dang, I missed it.
Kryne Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Just had my order from amazon.com arrive, 3 business days after ordering, and i paid for the cheap option. VERY impressed. Now have 2 Maersk trains and a GE to build :D
greenpaw Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Its gone from Amazon.it and .fr has it for $374 pounds still, dang, I missed it. I'm guessing it will come back. It has been up and down over the last few months and hasn't sold out from Lego.com yet. Prices fluctuate on Amazon France so often-they are all over the place sometimes from day to day.
TheDarkness Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I have 15 sets still coming from Amazon.fr This lot have been unusually slow and are now outside of their standard shipping time. Will wait a little bit longer before emailing them Such a shame as I am wanting to order a couple more sets, though their prices are rather high by their standards right now
Trent Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I placed my first ever order with Amazon.fr on Friday evening, and I received both of my parcels today. You can't argue with that sort of speed - and both of the packages had been carefully looked after. I had never seriously considered ordering internationally before (particularly as my grasp of European languages isn't fantastic!) but I will definitely do so again following this sort of experience (a near £30 saving over two sets).
Kryne Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Had another order from amazon.fr arrive today, had 3 passenger trains in the 1 box, all in perfect condition. Paid cheap shipping and was here within days. I wonder if i paid fast shipping it would arrive as soon as i paid for it? as i cant see how they could be any faster.

Hewman Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 The Queen Anne's Revenge is down to about 83 Euro on Amazon France right now. Which would work out just over $100 Australian with shipping, which is a pretty handy discount on this set, if it's the kind of set that floats your boat (in a 'boat does not float' kind of way).
Kryne Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 My 2 yellow cargo trains arrived today from amazon.fr arrived in perfect condition, been paranoid about it since hearing all the horror stories on here
DrWeevil Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Haha if you find Amazon France packaging stories horrifying you'd best never order from The Hut!
Kryne Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Haha if you find Amazon France packaging stories horrifying you'd best never order from The Hut! lmfao im spending to much on amazon to even think of spending it elsewhere atm
DrWeevil Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Word on the street is that Amazon France has jettisoned their cheap shipping option. I've not checked this for myself (too lazy to start up a real computer) - can anyone confirm? That'll be a real shame if it's true....
TheDarkness Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 No cheap option on the sets I put in The fun is over ladies and gents
lorax Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I just checked as well. Darn, I had a couple of Christmas villages I was going to buy, I should have done it yesterday. Although it is probably a good thing, Amazon France took my Lego budget and stomped it into the ground, spat on it and laughed.
Kryne Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Its probably still cheaper for some items than buying them here

lorax Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I was just in the back of our garage getting some of my sons toys to give away when I found a large sealed Amazon box. I call out to my husband, 'did you know we have a sealed Amazon box in here'. I was about to grab it and tear it open (with confusion and glee) when he runs in to stop me... So I wonder who is getting Lego for Christmas Amazon France needs unmarked boxes
Brickadeer Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 and besides, crap on a fudgecake, french amazon is in french :( It is, but with regards to the sets you want to order, that should not be a big problem. Information about international shipping can be found here (English): http://www.amazon.fr/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=603090
Hewman Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) 119,99 eur was what I found just now :/ and besides, crap on a fudgecake, french amazon is in french :( Yeah you have to be quick for these deals, it sold out quickly, that was probably a 3rd party supplier or the post-sale price you saw. Also use google chrome as your internet browser and it will translate everything into English for you. Edited December 18, 2011 by hewman
greenpaw Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 They have made some changes at Amazon France, as has been reported elsewhere. So from what I can see you can only order Lego and have it shipped using the "Flash" option, rather than the "Rapid" option. I put the big Hogwarts Castle in my cart and it cost EUR 29 to ship. I then put a total of 3 Hogwarts sets in and it cost EUR 45 to ship to me by the superfast method which usually takes about 5 days from France. I'm not panicing yet In many cases it is still cheaper than buying locally and if you buy more than one, shipping becomes almost a non-issue. Anyone else have a different experience? Cheers
