I'm looking at buying a Mindstorms NXT 2.0 from a German seller, only problem is it's the German version. Now in saying that I'm not sure how much of a problem it is. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the English version and the German version. Is it just the CD, in which case I can either download the software in English or buy the English Disk from another seller. Or is there more to it than that?

Thanks :D

Yea that's a good question. I've always wanted to know the same thing!!

Amazon.fr ship the Town Hall to Australia now.

Currently priced at 181 euros, but hopefully we will see a drop in price there soon.

I'm hoping it will go as low as AUD150, which is how much I paid for the other modulars via amazon.

That is around the mark I am looking at too, though doesn't this have a higher RRP?

Still, some people are more impatient than I am :)

The fire brigade had a RRP$299.95 and I bought mine at $215, when I hadn't discovered Amazon yet. The eBay prices were surprisingly cheap, as low as $160. Perhaps that was a once off.

I bought my first Fire Brigade at about that price, but have bought more after significantly lower.

I think the reason why there is so many available was because one of the earlier lots had a bag missing, so Lego was forced to continue production on it and replace sets.

$150AUD is a bit of a stretch when the US RRP is $200 in the first place.

It's a stretch but I think its possible...

It might actually be worth the wait to buy in Australia - I know David Jones were selling the Fire Brigade for approx $170. Not bad since it was RRP299.95.

I got a couple of Grand Emporium from Amazon for $125 - compared to USD149.99, great deal (before the shipping cost increases).

Time will tell...

Was the FB always $300rrp here? I remember it being $250 in the beginning at least (like the Town Hall was) and then they jacked up the price. It's a pretty absurd mark up considering it has always been $150 in the US.

As far as I am aware it has always had the $300 RRP, but I may be incorrect.

It isn't the first time Lego have jacked up prices along the way for Australians, that's for sure.

Did any of you guys who got stuff shipped to the UK from B&N get a bit tax bill when it arrived?

There seems to be a regular habit of having a $50 discount off the eventual RRP on the Australian Shop @ Home site for Modular Buildings. The town hall was $250 for the first few days. Many of the previous modulars also followed this pattern.

You need to careful of when the total purchase gets near $1,000 Australian dollars. There was a good post a while ago in this thread on the way tax is calculated on imports into Australia. I recall that the currency exchange rate used is one set by customs and can catch you out.

In regards to the town hall, i bought mine shipped for $260 aud earlier this year from the states. You can land the FB and GE in aussie at the moment for around the $170 au which is pretty good buying.

I think you'll be waiting a while for the TH to hit those lows, if ever. I'm constantly scanning the amazon sites for sets i want which don't currently ship here, time to time they seem to pop up. I've been making my purchases on bricklink lately, shipping from some stores there is quite reasonable, just gotta look.

Looking over Amazon.com and alot of the sets they used to ship to Australia now won't. Suprisingly though, they ship the 10212 Star Wars Imperial Shuttle UCS. The freight is a mere $28 US for their standard delivery, so you can get the set delivered for $288.02 US, far better than our $449 AU RRP!

I found out about http://www.tarazz.com.au (an Australian based business)

They only ship to Australian addresses and the items are from US retailers like Walmart etc.

Australia Post is their exclusive shipping partner.

More info here

For example the 10224 Town Hall set is $219.97, postage is $21.47 which makes the total at AUD$241.44, cheaper than RRP (for 1 set)! I added 4 sets of 10224 and shipping came to $55.47 which made it about $234 per set. More you order, the cheaper shipping costs are perhaps?

The postage prices vary from item to item and quantity. I assume conversion fees are not applied, since it is an Australian based business. :D

Also the site is really slow... just FYI also not sure if it should be under this thread, it's probably a bit of both? Should this be under local sales in Australia thread?

It will be really interesting to see how that goes. The site is really slow, but has some excellent prices.

This site could be dangerous! Ordered a Fire Brigade Modular, Marvel four pack containing Hulk Breakout with the three smaller sets, and the three pack Star wars Geonosian Starfighter, Ewok Attack, & Clone Trooper Battle Pack. All for $318 plus just $46.88 postage! Not bad for 8 sets including a Modular. Good deal on the multi sets seeing as they just seem to charger the one rate for the pack. Let's see how long they take (says 16-21 days) and how well they are packed.

I'm not a fan of shipping agents, best to deal with the retailer directly. I've had issues before with electrical items and it was a nightmare dealing with them.

Best to stick to amazon as there products are in-stock and the prices are very line ball.
