chuckie8646 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Hi All, So far I have built the Burj Khalifa, Empire State Building, John Hancock Center, Willis Tower and The Space Needle. From the Lego Architecture series. Although they are very simple and don't have very many pieces I think they are neat and are very elegant sets to add to any collection. I have never built any of the other sets in the architecture series but hope to build some of them very soon. I started this thread in the light of the fact that LEGO has announced the release on September 1st of the Brandenburg Gate and later in the year the release of Robie house from architect Frank Lloyd Wright and I am very excited. And I was wondering what everyone else thought of the Architecture series from LEGO. Please leave your thoughts on the series here. Thanks Charlie Quote
The Blue Brick Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I only have the Empire State Building and the White House so far. My favorite is the White House though. Quote

I think the white house is the next one im going to purchase because it looks like a lot of fun to build and it looks great. What did you think of the build on this set was it fun? and was it complicated? Quote
Clanure Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 While I do enjoy the look and idea behind this line, I can't get over the price. As such, I don't own any and haven't built any. I believe the Robie house might be the first I get, assuming the price/piece ratio is acceptable (if memory serves, it is). Clanure Quote

What did you think of the build on this set was it fun? and was it complicated? I thought it was more fun than the Empire State building. There is just a lot of repetitive steps though like the windows. Other than that, it was fun, not really complicated, and looks fantastic. Edited August 21, 2011 by The Blue Brick Quote
chuckie8646 Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Clanure. I am really excited for Robie house too. I thought the smaller sets were not to badly priced. Blue brick I really cant wait to get the white house i think ill have to get it later this week. Thanks Charlie Quote
sonicstarlight Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Yeah, the price of these things are insane for what they are so I've yet to get any. That said, even though it is also overpriced, I will be getting the Robie House. Besides being a huge Frank Lloyd Wright fan, I lived literally across the street from it my first three years of college. Quote

I think thats pretty cool that you got to live pretty close to it. I have never been but one day would love to go. I also really like Farnsworth house and thats another set id like to have and a place id like to visit Quote
Roger Rabbit Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I've only got the White House, but it's brilliant. I do agree that the prices are a little steep, but the White House is pretty decent, I don't like to go over 10p/piece, and it was £40 for 500+ pieces and it looks really great. All in all, it's a set I admire, although I find the landmark sets to be quite disappointing. I think Fansworth House will probably be the next one I buy. Quote
L@go Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I've been waiting for this to be moved to the Special Themes section, where there are several other threads about the Architecture sets - as they aren't really Town sets. But that being said, I'm astonished that nobody has mentioned Fallingwater yet. I've got all the sets in the series so far, and I agree that Robie House looks great, but of all the buildings so far Fallingwater is without competition my favourite. If you have a chance to grab it, do it. It's sitting on top of my piano in my livingroom looking fantastic. Yes, the White House and Farnsworth House are nice. But Fallingwater is in another league, as far as I'm concerned! Quote

Wait no longer.... well, ok, a little longer. And, done. Let this be the Architecture General Discussion thread (as, surprisingly, we don't already have one that I know about). Quote

But Fallingwater is in another league, as far as I'm concerned! I love Fallingwater so much - that set singlehandedly brought me out of my dark ages. I modified mine slightly, adding dark red and medium and dark stone grey to update the color scheme, but even without that I agree it's the best of the lot. The way all the parts slide into each other and into the surrounding site make it not just a model of the building but a physical representation of the architectural concepts behind it. Quote
Ceroknight Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I have yet to buy one yet, but I really want to! Architecture have only been available in Canada for a few months now and the price is not really appealing. However, architecture is what I want to major in so who knows? I might buy a bunch Quote
Salty Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I have the Fallingwater set. It's really nice when completed and makes fine looking display. Now I want to go see the actual building and I probably will. It's not far from where I live. Quote
