Davey Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 This is freakin' brilliant!!! I've been staring at my Green Grocer lately and wondering what exactly it is that I don't like about it. You've nailed it for me...it's too wide. I love the look of the 16-wide buildings. I think it's the forced perspective that makes them actually look taller since they are narrower. My wife and I have been planning to convert our town to a Victorian-era London theme and the 16-wide buildings are going to definitely be the way to go. And you have really shown just how much detail you can pack into a 16-wide. Again, this is simply brilliant and I will be snatching this idea. Well played!!!! -Davey Quote
greg3 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 They are brilliant!! Much as I love the modular buildings my lack of space means that I find that they're just too big to use for other than displaying individually on a shelf... your versions are perfect for incorporating them into a city/town display (especially the Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium) I think I may have to try something similar... very inspirational... Masked Builder Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 These are really cool! The size is great, and the way you've adapted them really works. Quote
sonicstarlight Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I keep coming back to this topic - really, really great work. I thought I would use my 100th post to let you know I blogged this on Brick Town Talk! Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Realy well done they look great Thank you so much! Very good work! It reminds me of an old TV show, Trumpton. Haha, dispite looking nothing like it architectulally, it does seem to have that charm :D More better than offical sets.I like 16 wide, 32 is too big. I'm starting to think so myself. Better at 16 wide that is, these wouldn't be any good if not for the stunning origionals! It took me a while to see what's "wrong" with this picture Love your 16 wide modification!!! Thanks! From a distance it does look like they are just a little taller! Very inspiring! This really makes me want to get the Fire Brigade now. And I will agree, that pool table is really neat looking. Thanks! :D At first glans very well done, and only after looking at it a bit longer you notice the scale difference with the original buildings. It's funny how the eyes decieve you into seeing what you expect to see :D Very nice! I love my modular buildings and I must say, you did an excellent job transforming these to "skinny" versions! Thanks! It was scary pulling them apart but at least i knew I could go back if it was a disaster! This is freakin' brilliant!!! I think that this solves the 'scale' issue between some of the older ones. It's funny just how similar the GG is to the PS after you take the massive bay window off! They are brilliant!! Space was my main inspiration, and after I started the challenge became working with a smaller space :) These are really cool! The size is great, and the way you've adapted them really works. WhiteFang Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Excellent and charming! I like and enjoyed how you placed the MMV tavern into the midst as well. It's certainly very enjoyable to sit back and admire this piece of remarkable work. Quote
Roger Rabbit Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 This is inspired, what a great 'half' street as it were. Personal highlights for me are the pool table and the clothes rack. Well done mate. Quote

Tervlon Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Just incredible! Thank you for sharing with us. This is REALLY tempting to do as my modular space is pretty much used up and I don't even have the Emporium or Pet Shop yet! Quote
an3 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Great idea to shrink the modular buildings down. Respect! Quote
