From the very beginning I told myself I was not going to be a completist - No complete sets of 16 for the sake of it - And I stuck to it - Series 1 Between myself and the kids we only picked 13 of the 16 up. Same with series 2 onwards.

But once I saw those Samurai, and Fisherman and Elves. Oh boy. Multiples time.

Then Musketeers !!!! When we go to the supermarket me and the boy stop and have a feel of any packet we see, and if it was one of the above we'd buy it. Cant have too many elves! Even when there were only a couple left in the box and the end of the run I'd stil find elves.

Now series 5 i'm not too keen on, but I've picked up 2 Gladiators, 1 for me one for the boy, just cos I think i'll regret it in the future if I dont. Too good for MOC's.

And with the leaked images of 6 I already know I'm in trouble.

As far as the collectable minifigs go, I'm satisfied owning one of each, but I do consider myself an obsessive minifig collector otherwise.

I don't mean I want every minifig I ever see, but I'm a sucker for minifig parts, especially hairpieces and printed legs and dresses. I aim to have every hairpiece created in every possible color.

I tend to get my hands on every minifig from my favored themes, but I don't usually buy duplicates. I also don't keep the minifigs intact, but dismantle them for customizing purposes. For the last year or so, I've concentrated my hobby on buying minifigs from Bricklink, but I still buy new sets if they contain more than just the minifig I want.

According to Brickset I currently own 877 complete minifigs, plus an unknown amount of separate parts. It might not look like much to some of you, but keep in mind that I don't have very many duplicates, not to mention any armies of identical clones. I would take 800 different minifigs over 8000 identical ones any day of the week.

I am not obsessive about it (yet), but I kind of stopped swapping minifigs and just part out the doubles and add them to the big collection. They are always useful for anything :D

I am under control now. I got one of each in series 1. Series 2 I have almost a complete set. 1 & 2, I spent a lot of the rumaging through the barcodes. Series 3 & 4 a few here and there randomly.

Everything in Sandy's post sounds just like me. I am trying to get at least one of each torso and multiples of some, currently I have 688 unique torso designs logged. I also try to get at least one of each hair but sadly I am not doing as well in that department. I love printed legs and skirts and also like new heads to spice up mocing.

I don't do armies at all. For collectable figures I do get as many as I can, there are so mannun ice new accessories that won't otherwise be available. I really don't want to miss out on these items . I do keep one complete set of each sears separate from my parts collection, but not sure if that will last

Walmart is awesome.

Not really.

Occasionally I will find something rare or old at a Walmart but overall they are the worst place to get Lego. I scored a bunch of series 3 at Walmart during the peak of series 4 so that was cool. I also got a handful of Jack Sparrow promo figs for free because the cashier couldn't figure out how to ring them up. When it comes to the large chains I usually find better sets and discounts at Target. Besides, I hate Walmart. They really suck.

Yesterday I made my day!

I got home with 4 Evil Dwarf, 4 Roman Warriors and 3 Lizardmen just by feeling the bags... it's way easier than relying on the dotcodes. And the shopkeepèr asked me if I did that for him too!!!

:D

I went to a store in Germany last friday, just to look around if there was anything nice... that was the first store i saw minifigures series 5. And i thought "Okay... but 2,49 Euros is way too much for me, i wait about a year and get them in a sale....".

Then I looked at the price tag: 99 Cents! *huh* AWESOME! The first I randomly chose was a gladiator. Bought it, got the list of minifigs so the feeling would be easier. Got every minifigure I wanted that way.

Man I give you money you buy them for me!! :D

0.99 is way low!!! I found them at 2€ and that was the cheapest I could see!

  • 1 month later...

I completed serie 1 and 2 by barcodes, then bought extra zombies and spartans, some are on my bricklink shop.

Then when it came to serie 3 and 4, I bought the box, and not happy I went around, buying mummies, werewolves, elves (I bought around 20 by feeling the bags, I don't rely on dots) vikings and whatever could fit a fantasy environment.

I am ready now for the godzillas and dwarves, I will buy at least 10x of each one, but when it will come to series 6 I will have to buy also leprechaunes, genies, and tons of warlords and minotaurs... I will stock 100€ for eache serie apart from the 90€ that a box is worth to me.

And yes, whenever I come to a shop that has minifigs, I buy one at least. I buy the more appealing, or I have someone pick it for me. It's always good to have one more, they are awesome to me.

When a new serie comes out, I freak out and buy dozens per time... when a month is passed I cool down and buy one every now and when. I probably own 2 hundreds of collectible minifigs right now, and at least 2x of every serie (one is on my desk, the other is dismounted).

So after all you're not alone!

I'm trying to build up a collection of up to 30 zombies but they're so expensive now :(

It's getting worse for me I think. I've bought at least 12 figures in the last 7 days just purely on a whim at Tesco..

I don't think I have a problem (although my wife may disagree.!) It's not as bad as my brother's (Vindice) yet..!

Only 12? Is that all they had?

Buying collectible minifigs is the least of your problems mate. Fondling yourself whilst feeling the bags is when you go way too far.

I have at least two of each figure from each series so far (1-5); for most of them I have three or more. There are several of which I have at least five or six, and I think three figures for which I have ten or more each. For one figure I have 27.

*oh2*:cry_sad::laugh::wacko::blush:
