Clone-Trooper Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Whooooo, sounds like another LEGITIMATE listing.......... BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY Perhaps buyers are still purchasing them thinking, 2nd, 3rd, 4th time lucky? They're bound to score a bargain eventually right????????
22kane Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I can totally see how people fall for this type of thing. I've been with eBay for over 11 years now and have never had an issue. At a quick glance everything appears to be normal and to a novice this is a great deal. I've found many great deals on eBay and never thought twice about being scammed. After seeing this though I will proceed with a little more caution. Someone said earlier that a parent could easily get sucked into this for gift purposes and with free shipping what do you have to lose, right? Casual eBayers would have no idea how to spot something like this and for the most part eBay is very safe and trustworthy site. When it comes down to it the buyers aren't idiots, they've simply been taken advantage of. It's really quite sad actually.
Clone-Trooper Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) And so the SCAM SAGA continues.................. now it's hit Australian shores from a Hong Kong fake seller. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-Death-Star-10188-DeathStar-BRAND-NEW-/150656208545?pt=AU_LEGO&hash=item2313cf4ea1#ht_1684wt_1135 Amazing how much they're targeting the Lego Death Star sets !!!! He has x200 of them AGAIN, and for $189.99 Australian dollars let the stupid/gullible buyers get sucked in! Edited August 30, 2011 by Clone-Trooper
Sokratesz Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I have reported both. Ebay is slow to take action, I sent them a mail about that with no response yet. These guys are making tens of thousands this way - sounds like a nice job on the side.
22kane Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I've decided to follow these as well and keep reporting them. This is just insane that eBay hasn't taken action on some of these guys yet. I hate people like that.
22kane Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) They have sold another 18 Death Stars and 30 some Millenium Falcons since I posted this morning. Unbelievable. Some people are buying multiples from them. How sad. Edited August 31, 2011 by 22kane

She could have at least asked to see it. That's just plain stupidity.
Clone-Trooper Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Made me laugh. Who buys electronics in a McDonalds parking lot? She could have at least asked to see it. That's just plain stupidity. Totally agree, she should have at least seen it power up and turn on...... but that's just the sort of gullible people were dealing with.
Sokratesz Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 It seems ebay is finally taking care of the fraudulent listings... Oh and here's another great scam story for your reading pleasure: http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/
Clone-Trooper Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 People who have been scammed are listing warnings on E-Bay now............ good on them http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-Death-Star-10188-WARNING-NFS-/130570475571?pt=AU_LEGO&hash=item1e669b5833#ht_1787wt_1135
22kane Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I've been following this whole thing closely and sent the seller a message yesterday. I wrote " you are a piece of shit scam artist and you will get caught. It's only a matter of time. " He responded to me this morning by simply writing "MADE". I really hope he gets busted.

Lobot Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I’m glad that Ebay seem to have finally taken some action about this. I reported 3 separate listings, but I didn’t receive anything from them apart from the standard automated reply. I was really surprised that one of them was still showing 24 hours after I’d reported it (and I clearly wasn’t the only one doing this), especially considering the amounts involved. I just hope that everyone gets a refund.
bensl Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 they just keep on coming. dodgy pricks. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lego-Star-Wars-Millenium-Falcon-10179-NEW-/150657430532?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item2313e1f404
Wayno Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 they just keep on coming. dodgy pricks. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lego-Star-Wars-Millenium-Falcon-10179-NEW-/150657430532?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item2313e1f404 Yep more listings up in the UK, Personaly i HATE what ebay has become.. it just seems to be full of shops, high fees and scams! :( unfortunatly these scams will contiune as people just cant seem to grasp that good old saying "if it looks to good to be true it probably is"
r74 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Cant find the thread on here where someone recently ordered 10188 deathstar for £129 from ebay from china with free p&p, i remember the seller gave tracking number but not heard anything since? I was watching the same item and they also were selling 10179 Millenium Falcon for £179, they ended up selling x200 each in a few days which comes to a grand total £65,800 ish which paypal are going to have to refund as its obv a con as you can see by ther feedback for 100's 1p items to boost there selling credentials. I reported all these items to ebay but they are so slow or dont give a monkey as they managed to shift all 200 each and now a different seller is listing x200 as well, i've also reported these, has anyone got a spare ebay account they can do buy it now on all 200 just to stop people getting caught out with this, there are going to be many people get caught with the scam especially with xmas getting closer.
into the blue Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 (edited) Cant find the thread on here where someone recently ordered 10188 deathstar for £129 from ebay from china with free p&p, i remember the seller gave tracking number but not heard anything since? That'll be me. My original post can be found here. Still waiting. I tried opening up a dispute case with eBay but was notified that I can't start one until September 11th (why that particular date I don't know), so I'm just hanging on until then. I'm actually hoping nothing turns up as it'll be easier to try and get my money back, rather than having to return whatever the Chinese seller has sent me and starting a 'item not as described' case with eBay. lightningtiger Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Two things....one, at that price....too good to be true and second, this kind of topic usual sits in the 'Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds' forum ?
Sokratesz Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Yep more listings up in the UK, Personaly i HATE what ebay has become.. it just seems to be full of shops, high fees and scams! :( unfortunatly these scams will contiune as people just cant seem to grasp that good old saying "if it looks to good to be true it probably is" I always select 'auctions only', all the people treating ebay as a generic shop with their insane 'buy it now' prices can go suck a big one ^^
r74 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 they just keep on coming. dodgy pricks. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lego-Star-Wars-Millenium-Falcon-10179-NEW-/150657430532?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item2313e1f404 Thats the same twat that is listing x200 each falcon and deathstars in the UK, this must be costing Paypal a fortune as the other seller last week sold x200 eack and that came to a total £65'800, easy money in less than 72hrs. Its no wonder Ebay and paypal have started taking a higher %, its to cover their megablocks for scams like this. Can someone from each country just set up fake ebay account and click buy it now for all 200 listed.
Lobot Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 And another one for the UK : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-10179-UCS-Millennium-Falcon-Brand-New-/250885466507?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item3a69f0698b Actually, I think that this might be another hacked account (which happened a couple of weeks ago) as it's been dormant since 2008. I've just reported it to Ebay, hopefully they'll remove it quickly.
Sokratesz Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I reported those hours ago, no action taken yet.
