I bought 2 8109's at the last TRU BOGO 50% off sale. I am thinking of building it, but of course there is that matter of lots of paper and ink. Anybody built it yet? Is it worth it? It looks interesting enough, I just don't want to waste the ink and paper if its subpar...

Ink and paper, what are you talking about? Just build it beside a computer, and you wont have to print the instruction... I've done so several times, and it's no problem.

Or, are you talking about something totally different?

This is why I love my iPad :classic:

I use my iPad for reading building instructions too. I don't have to print out any instructions and battery life is long enough to complete a model and more. I even made a stand out of Lego to hold up the iPad. :classic:

Back to topic, there is one way to find out. Build it, take some pics and post a review of the "B" model. :classic:

Hehe same here! I also have built a stand from Lego for my iPad. pirate_thumbup.gif

Most of the time I build the A-model using my computer. No paper instructions on the table anymore.

On topic:

I don't think the B-model is very interesting. However, since you have two sets, I would definitely build the B-model to see for yourself. (and then post a review, like dr_spock mentioned)

@Nazgarot: Unfortunately my computer is set up in a small corner (small condo) so that would be a great idea, but I have nowhere to assemble them near the computer and because I have cable internet I'm stuck. That's the reason I would need to print the instructions.

@dr spock: That is sort of the reason why I wondered if any of you had built it, to see if it is worth it to actually waste the ink and paper. If I built it, I would have already used those supplies and would know if I like it. It looks interesting enough, just wondered if it was really worth it.

Just get a large dinner tray and put all the parts on it, then build in front of your pc :)

Indeed!

Or get yourself a long extension cord for your monitor.

Being able to build near a computer screen will save you from printing future B-model instructions.

Good luck!

The B-model is nothing special. I have seen it last week after my friend built it. Please, do not waste the paper on the instructions and do as the other fellow members tell you if you want to build it.

Hi, I built this model last week-end, and I think it's a very simple truck.

I've made a video for SeTechnic, if you want to see how it runs :
